Tim Cone on Scottie Thompson’s performance in game 5. "He was so incredibly unselfish."

Since Scottie Thompson entered the professional league, we rarely see him score or just concentrate in contributing on the points production for Barangay Ginebra but their game 5 performance against SMB which they won with a huge lead was the first time that this rookie point guard scored more than 20 points who usually just dominates the boards and assists.

“We were mostly concern about Scottie, he was so incredibly unselfish that really you have  to force him to shoot.” Tim Cone stressed in the post game interview after their win against SMB. “First play of the game we decided to play for him to come out and take that first shot bahala na  I don’t care, you shoot it if you miss you just shoot it and when I said that the whole room kinda laughed” This move of Cone to start the game simply made a huge difference in their match with SMB.

“The point is we wanted him to come out and be aggressive he went out and took that shot and then he missed it so we were like uh-oh but then he just got on fire and I think he took five of our first six shots that kinda said to myself Yes! the message was sent to Scottie I think we have a shot in this game I feel like that we have a shot.” After hitting 5 of their first field goals in the first quarter, Ginebra made a huge run afterwards though SMB succeeded in trying to catch up, Ginebra still continued and played their best to get the win.

“Sol hits first 3 threes. It became contagious its nice it was such a redemptive win we got redemption on this game.” the most successful coach in the league said.

History has been made at Global Hoops 2016

Street ballers unite last night to give us a show that we will never forget. Global Hoops 2016 brings Court Kingz (USA) led by the legendary hot sauce, China RP Zed (China) led by their own street ball legend, Helmet and the Team PH lead which is composed of ex pro players and filipino street ballers.

The event was filled by excitement and intensity as those team battle each other on a 5 on 5 game and 1 on 1 game basis. USA easy dismantles China and PH while China get their bearings against PH. But that was not inportant to the fans, we all gather to see some awesome moves from the players.
Helmet, Hot sauce, Lil’ Flash (PH), More Free (CHINA) , Zigzag (USA) and Money Love (USA) take care of the dribbling exhibitions thoughout the event. But of course there are high flying actions and most of it came from the Court Kingz’s Jumping Joe, Megatron and Mr. Viral.

It was even brighter with the help of hip hop legends like, Andrew E, Loonie, Quest, Abra, Ron Henley and Gloc 9, who performed their own hits during the break.

This event will go down in the history. It is the only event that all street ball legends from USA, China and PH played in one court together. This is the true testament that basketball can unite countries, either in professional aspect or even in street ball.

Less fortunate kiddie athletes were all smiles as they were blessed with donated shoes and other sports attire from the International School Manila (ISM).
These kids have been training in sports like volleyball, basketball football among others wearing just regular clothes with inadequate shoes or even slippers for that matter. With organizations like the YSA (Youth Sports Advocacy) however, these kids have a chance of becoming more that what they are through sports.
Are you interested in helping giving these children a brighter future? Check out YSAV in Facebook and instagram and find out how you can help.
