Novak Djokovic King of Clay now! Best Ever? 12 grand slam titles

Novak Djokovic has captured the title that has eluded him for many years. He has been to the French Open Finals 4 times, he lost twice against Nadal and last year to Wawrinka. This year Djoker was a man on a mission. He was up against his closest friend Andy Murray world number 2 who dispatch Wawrinka in the semis in 4 sets. Djokovic lost the first set after breaking the first service game of Murray. Andy was able to capitalize on 3 straight games and thus he won the first set 6-3.

It may seem like it was going Murray’s way but the World #1 was out for war after the questionable call that favored Murray on a service that was called out but after reviewing it was in, from that point on Novak was in beast mode. Novak went on to win the next 3 sets beating Murray 6-1, 6-2, 6-4,

With the win Novak has 12 grand slams two behind Nadal and Sampras, 5 behind Federer’s 17. In my opinion even if Novak doesnt get 17 Grand Slam Titles he can be considered the greatest of all time yet due to the competition that he had to go through.

Djokovic is also only the 3rd tennis player to get all Grand Slams within the same year, the only other 2 are Rod Laver in 1962 and Don Budge in 1938.

Novak will be the favorite to win the 2016 Wimbledon open in June 26 and the Rio Olympics.

Al Thornton Exploded for 38 Points to help Nlex Beat Meralco 104-99!

It was a birthday treat indeed for me as I watch this game Live. It featured Baser Amer and League leading Meralco Bolts against NLEX Road Warriors, The Bolts come out guns blazing leading from the start to end the first half with a 7 point lead. 3rd quarter though was the man of the hour Al Thorton who dropped 20 points alone in that quarter as they finished it 81-79. Then they never looked back the locals was able to keep the lead with Thornton sitting for almost 5 minutes. It was a collective effort from the team that gave them the victory. Credits to Simon Enciso, Sean Anthony and Kevin Alas for giving the much needed support to Al Thornton who again ended the night with 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

With the win NLEX boosted its record to 3-3 in a crowded 4-6 spot and Meralco dropped to 5-2 good enough for 2nd slot but its their 2nd defeat.

OUR 2016 NBA Rookie of the YEAR! Karl Anthony Towns against the Raptors! A Monster INDEED!

I don’t think anyone would disagree with me on this one. KAT has been phenomenal from the get go. Towns has been awarded as the Rookie of the month for 4 months straight now and he has even upped his performance from 19.7 points with 9 rebs last January to an even better 20+ ppg and 12 rebs per game.

Join me as we review this monstrous performance that led Towns to win the Skill Challenge right before the break for NBA All Stars.

Karl Anthony Towns in this game scored 35 points grabbed 11 rebounds and 3 blocks! This guy is simply insane. I wonder what impact KG had on him if any. I wish we could get that interview 🙂

Here is the insane performance by KAT:

Pelicans Trio: Davis, Anderson, Holiday Beats OKC 123-119!

This is probably the most significant win for Pelicans this season at this stage of the game. The Pelicans are looking to make the playoffs and they are just 6 games behind Utah who is on the 8th spot. It will be hard because their roster is quite debunked right now. The starting line up was Davis, Ajinca, Cunningham, Gee and Cole.

Who would have thought that they could beat this OKC team with this roster, Well Ad is the first guy who would say anything is possible. AD led his team with 30 pts 6 rebounds and 4 block shots. Anderson was the side kick and added 26 pts, while Holiday made some clutch plays in the end to help seal the win and put up 22 points out of 8-12 shooting. The Pelicans bench were huge and everyone stepped up.

OKC’s Big three of Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka put up 91 points total (Durant 32, WB 44, Ibaka 15) but the rest of them team were almost a non factor.

Davis has also stroke it from 3 shooting 2-3 which is not bad at all. He is showing he can do everything and has really taken his team on his shoulders.

Twolves young guys stepped up big in all star weekend 2016!

The Future is bright indeed this is probably the best weekend for the Minnesota Timberwolves after KG’s reign. Zach Lavine’s stock value also catapulted to its peak, The reigning Slam Dunk Champ defended his title and even won the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge MVP

Here is the highlight of the game:

Karl Anthony Towns also gave his best to win the Taco Bell Skills Challenge it wasn’t an easy task as he was up against Isiah Thomas from the Boston Celtics, It is indeed a Samson Vs Goliath but this time the big fella got the win. Here is the highlight of that exciting finish

Andrew Wiggins also had a great weekend as he finished with 29 points to co lead the world team who was headed by Kristaps Porizingis with 30.  Here is the highlight of the World vs USA team.

Future is bright indeed as the wolves young guys performed and gave it their best. Its definitely a good year for them and better for the future.

AMAZING! NBA dunk contest 2016 highlights and some ideas.

The Dunk contest these year was too good these two guys had to do 5 completed dunks to win the competition. Will Barton from Denver Nuggets got a great entrance but the nerves got into him and never really got his groove. Andre Drummond made both of his dunks but that wasn’t impressive enough. So it was between Gordon and Lavine, Honestly both are great dunkers and all but I would have given it to Gordon. I know that any given day Lavine can pull off a dunk from the free throw and just add something to the mix. Gordon’s dunk on the other hand was just on another level.

Just check out the highlight of this dunk ITS FREAKING SICK!!!!!!

This is what Lavine Did

Last Dunk for both I gotta give it to Lavine but should have been something more, I know most of Gordon’s dunk was with the Mascot, While Lavine was from the Free Throw Line . I just think that there’s a lot of dunkers who could do what Zach Lavine did. I don’t know if there would be the same for Gordon’s Dunk. But this has been the most entertaining dunk contest since Vince Carter and Jason Richardson.

I hope to see Lavine’s Team mate next year my boy Andrew Wiggins.

Here is the highlight of the entire dunk contest:

Novak Djokovic is the Australian open KING! 6 out 6 finals!

Novak Djokovic lifting his Australian Cup Trophy!

Novak Djokovic made history in the open area and tied the great Roy Emerson with 6 Australian open Championship Title!

6 out of 6 there aren’t too many athletes that can do that be it a team game or 1 on 1. To me Novak Djokovic is the Michael Jordan of Tennis, not because he is also 6 out 6 but the hard work and dedication that his guy gave is like that of a Michael Jordan. Jordan had to overcome Bird, Magic, Dr. J, Hakeem etc. Novak on the other hand needed to prove that he is up there with Federer, Nadal, Sampras, Agassi, etc.

Djokovic beat Andy Murray the current world #2 rank in straight sets. 6-1, 7-5, 7-6. It wasn’t easy but many people believe that Djokovic played a better game against Federer. Djokovic only had 7 ace’s as suppose to Andy’s  12. Murray also had 40 winners and Novak only had 31. But the Serb was good enough on crucial moments to get his 11th Grandslam titles. Tied with the great Rod Laver and Bjorn Borg. 3 Titles more to catch nadal and 6 titles away to tie Federer who might win another 1 if he doesnt retire in the next 2 years.

The Grandslam that eluded Novak is Roland Garros French open. We will find out this June.

Djokovic settles the score against Federer to reach the Finals for Australian Open!

Novak Djokovic has finally settled the score against Roger Federer, he is now ahead by 1 match 23-22 something that he was able to do against Nadal as well, sure that his wins came at his peak but his defeats were during the times when he was not this good. Those who say Fed has declined a lot is simply making that as an excuse.

Novak Dominated the match even if he lost the 3rd set, Federer had to earn his victory and almost got broken again through his serve. Federer won the 3rd set 6-3 but that was the last of it.

Scores:
6 – 1
6 – 2
3 – 6
6 – 3

Federer is a great champ no doubt but to discount the greatness of Novak is blasphemy just compare the top 10 players in his Era and to Federer’s Era

CURRENT TOP 10:
Novak Djokovic
Andy Murray
Roger Federer
Stan Wawrinka
Rafael Nadal
Tomas Berdych
Kei Nishikori
David Ferrer
Richard Gasquet
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Federer’s top when he reach world # 1

Roger Federer
Juan Carlos Ferrero
Andy Roddick
Guillermo Coria
Andre Agassi
Rainer Schuettler
Carlos Moya
David Nalbandian
Mark Philippoussis
Paradorn Srichaphan

Out of all these guys Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick are the that good. Carlos Moya,JCF where already on the downside of their careers. You could just imagine if it was Djokovic in this Era he would have done the same. But dont doubt the career of Djokovic he is now 1 step closer to his 11th Career Grandslam and it doesn’t look like he would stop anytime soon. It is not going to be easy at all because these top 10 players can certainly beat anyone in their prime.

Here is the highlight’s of the match:

Federer Vs Djokovic for the 45 time 22-22 all? Who would win? 1:30pm PST(PHIL)

Stats wont lie, Head to head they are even 22 wins vs 22 wins in 44 matches, Djokovic was way behind and was able to catch up and hasn’t really lost to one particular player that seems to be his kryptonite. This match will determine who is really superior between the two. I understand that this maybe past Federer’s prime but you are kidding yourself if you would say that he has declined a lot. It is just fair that Djokovic was able to catch up to Federer’s level through these years.

Djokovic Quarter Finals performance:
6-3,6-2,6-4 against Nishikori

Federer’s Quarter Finals Performance:
7-6,6-2,6,4 against Berdych

Novak Djokovic Survives against Gimon in 2016 Australian open in 5 sets!

Simon on the left congratulation Novak Djokovic on his victory.

Scores:

6-3, 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

The World #1 emerges out of this grueling battle against Gilles Simon the current world #15. Djokovic had a total of 100 unforced errors and yet managed to stay focus on the fifth set to be the victor, to move on to the quarter finals.

Djokovic will face Kei Nishikori who dumped Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in straight sets (6-4, 6-2, 6-4). People may think that Djoker is beatable and was rattled against Simon so Nishikori’s chances are better. I dont have any doubt on Nishikori’s playing style because its like Djokovic’s game when Novak was still starting. Nishikori is aggressive and loves to chase the ball and deliver that massive back hand, the Signature shot of Novak Djokovic. Kei was able to defeat Djokovic in the the semi-finals of US Open 2014.

It maybe a bad sign for Djokovic and a good sign for Nishikori as they have contrasting victories yesterday. I wouldn’t be too fast to write off Novak, because when he gets it together he puts on  a phenomenal tennis play.

This is the tournament that Novak has dominated for he has won this 5 times already (2008, 2011-2013, and 2015). He has surpassed Roger Federer who has 4 wins. (2004, 2006, 2007 and 2010).

John Wall is making sure that he is not overlooked this year, even though he was an all star for the past couple of years. Wall is making a case of being the best PG in the east. I know he missed the last minute layup but how many PG’s out there can make it in less than 4 seconds with 2 guys contesting the shot.

Novak Beats Nadal for the 24th time to win Doha 2016! 6-1, 6-2

Rightfully so, Novak has beaten Nadal 24 times it is more than the combined victories of Federer – 11, Murray – 6, Ferrer 6. Its really an amazing fact that he is the only player to win more times than lose against Nadal even the great Federer.

Novak steemed past Nadal in amazing fashion, its not like Nadal is out of rhythm, Novak is just on another level. The brilliance of this guy is often denied by supporters of both Nadal and Federer but I believe he is just getting better. So watch out!

J.J Barea 32 pts and 11 assists. INSANE!

J.J. Barea

Yes, We all love J.J Barea and the game we had against his country Puerto Rico during the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Barea put on a show as the Mavs gutted out a victory against Brooklyn Nets 119-118 in overtime. Dallas improved to 16-13 while the Nets dropped to 8-21. Dirk also moved to the 6th spot in the all time scoring leader, he surpassed Shaq. The other 5 players above Dirk are Kareem. Malone. Kobe. Jordan. Wilt

Dallas has secured the 4th spot as it stands right now, to me they are the surprised team this year considering the entire roster has been shuffled. I wont be surprised if Rick Carlisle would win coach of the year again.

Here is the highlight of the amazing performance by Barea;

YES! Toronto 2016 please!!!!

Andrew Wiggins has pledge that he wants to be an all star on 2016 in his home country Canada. It’s not like he is asking for too much because games like this would very well put him over the edge against other guys out there. Outside of Harden, Wiggins has been a consistent 2 guard from the Western Conference yes i know Klay Thompson is doing good as well but Wiggins will get my vote.

THE NEW UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP LUKE ROCKHOLD BEATS WEIDMAN

Luke Rockhold may have been the underdog in this fight but unless you are as powerful as Vitor Belfort there’s not a lot of middleweight that can beat this guy. Even a Lyoto Machida only lasted 2 rounds against this tough dude. Rockhold delivered a stunner to the world as he left Weidman bloody to the canvas in the 4th round of their fight.

I, for one, was a believer because he was as good as Chris in every aspect of the game but i think he is more well rounded and packs a heavier punch than Weidman.

I am sure that Rockhold would want to avenge his loss against Belfort but we will see if UFC will give that shot or give Weidman a rematch. Rockhold is not invisible by any means but you really have to deliver a solid blow to put this guy down.

Congrats Champ!

Porzingis VS Dirk at the garden!12/7/2015- Porzingis the future Dirk?

The Future and the Legend

Dirk has nothing but high praises for KP. He even said that KP will be great barring any injuries because KP is playing better at this stage compared to a rookie Dirk. KP is averaging 14ppg and 5 reb with atleast a block per game. Dirk only average 8 and his rookie season.

KP almost won this game for New York but came up short in the end with a score of 104-97 . KP led all scorers with 28 points scoring at will in the 4th like Dirk in the heydays. Dirk led the Mavs with 25 points and 6 rebounds who improved to 13-9. The Knicks fall to 10-12 still not that bad if you ask me because people thought that KP would be seeing the D-League instead of the NBA. But the way he is playing now people even claim that this is going to KP’s Team moving forward and even saying that Melo may not be part of the future plans for this franchise. Well honestly I would wait and just watch the beauty of this young rookie.

Introducing: Jaylen Brown top 5 pick in 2016 NBA Draft! From CAL Bears! with 27 pts ! and a nasty jam!

Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown just put on a show the other day but still lost against Richmond, he was the only one trying specially on the end game but fall short. He put up 27 points and showed that he is NBA ready. His shooting stroke wasn’t on display during this game but for you guys i would upload 2 more videos of this young stud. Please always say kahwi leonard like or stanley johnson jr, but i see Brown as a much controlled Latrell Sprewell. Brown is 6’7 with a windspan of a 7 footer.

Brown has been part of Team USA and in his jr year he was touted as the nation’s best player. To me Brown can easily be top 3 this up coming draft. He has a lot to work on but his athleticism and body is already NBA Bound.

Mavs with Throwback Jersey! D-Will with Throwback performance 23pts 8 assists and 3 steals!

D-Will

D-Will has been somewhat a disappointment after leaving Jazz, I for one thought he was just a system player, he was up there with Cp-3 and Rose when they were starting, D-will lost his touch or interest after leaving Utah, he had some notable performance for the Nets but he wasn’t the D-will we used to know.

Now that he is playing for his hometown seems like D-Will is playing inspired basketball once again.

D-Will helped the Mavs Beat Utah with a great performance and indeed a throwback one. Is this a coincidence or Mavs can cling on D-will to give Dirk his last run.

Novak Djokovic World #1 for 171 weeks surpassing McEnroe! 5th all time and still going strong!

Novak Djokovic

The Man of Steel in tennis right now, the best of all time maybe within reach but just early this month, Novak has been the #1 player for 171 weeks and counting, Yes that’s right he has surpassed the great John McEnroe on the all time list moving in to #5 at the moment and he has no plans of stopping after beating Kei Nishikori 7 hours ago in the ATP Barclay’s ATP World Tour Finals 6-1 6-1.

Novak’s greatest achievement as he mentioned is getting married and having

a kid, that’s his biggest milestone.

BEASTS! Cousins 40pts 13 reb Rondo 3ple double 23 pts 10 reb 14 assists ! DUNK OF THE NIGHT! FROM BOOGIE!

Kentucky Wildcat boys: Rondo and Cousins having a great time!

As a Celtic fan, the speculations of trading for Cousins has been around for almost 3 years now but it turned out the other way around. The Kings probably have the best PG+C combination right now, i know it may raise a lot of eye-brows but Rondo is making everyone look like a fool for not wanting him. Rondo has recorded his 3rd triple double in 4 the last games, that may not reflect on the winning record as the Kings are sitting to 3-7 right now.

Make no mistake about it they started the season slow and the rumors that speculate around the team didn’t help them, The Kings won 2 straight games and looking to make it 3 wins in a row against the Raptors tomorrow.

It is a thing of beauty for Rondo and Cousins clicking together at times they look unstoppable.
There is not a lot that could guard boogie one on one, as he keeps stroking them 3’s and if he doesn’t get he goes inside. Rondo on the other hand makes everyone touch the floor and provides balance and spacing for the team.

Here is the dunk of the night video from Boogie!Courtesy of NBA Highlights Daily!

From Heavy Weight now lets focus on Super Featherweight Champ Javier Fortuna!

We are now down to the little guys, Little? not really this is the division that save boxing. You maybe wondering who? Well Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather was the studs in this division when they were still younger. Will Javier Fortuna and Ivan Velasquez make the same impression, only time will tell. Fight is Scheduled tomorrow 9/29/2015 at Palms Casino and Resort, Pearl Theater, Las Vegas, Nevada

Current WBA Superfeatherweight champ Javier Fortuna 28 wins 0 lost 20 by KO will go up against Carlos Ivan Velasquez 19-1-0 (12 KO) . To be honest this is nothing like Wilder VS Duhaupas because the champ this time will be shorter. Fortuna is just 5’5 and has a reach of 68 1/2 inches while Velasquez is 5’9 with a reach of 70 inches. Fortuna has shown he can come back from a knock down on the other hand Velasquez must be careful because he has been KO’ed before by a lesser opponent.

Novak Djokovic: Is surely making a name for himself after winning the 2015 US Open

Novak Djokovic: Is surely making a name for himself after winning the 2015 US Open

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has stayed as the world number 1 in men’s tennis for 164 weeks and counting, a feat that only the greatest of the great was able to do, names like Roger Federer (302weeks), Pete Sampras (286weeks), Ivan Lendl (270weeks), Jimmy Connors (268) and John McEnroe have spent more weeks at No. 1 since 1973.

Djokovic latest triumph happened during the 2015 US Open Men’s Single’s Tennis. Djokovic was able to beat Roger Federer in 4 sets 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–4. But this victory still far from over, I for one among the millions that’s still awaiting the time when Novak gets the career grand slam with then next few years. Novak was able to get 10 majors titles and 8 runner up for the last 4 years.

Novak has been declared world #1 even if the last quarter just started. Here is the official announcement from ATP

Chris Kermode, the ATP Executive Chairman and President, said, “Congratulations to Novak on yet another incredible achievement. To secure the year-end ATP World Tour No.1 ranking this early in the season just goes to show what an amazing year he has had. His remarkable level of consistency throughout the season and on the biggest stages has been quite simply awe-inspiring. He’s in his prime, unquestionably at the pinnacle of the game, and fully deserving of this latest accolade – a true credit to our sport.”
Novak is still at his peak and just 28 years old, he has been virtually dominant in all surface of the sport being a runner up back to back(2014 and 2015) in Rolland Garros he has won the Australian open 5 times since 2008. US open in 2011 and 2015.

I will now be leaving you with the highlights of the recently concluded 2015 US open Final.
