Nerlens Noel reportedly signs 1 year, $4.1 Million contract with Dallas Mavericks

Noel was traded last On February 23, 2017 to the Dallas Mavericks from Philadelpia 76ers in exchange for Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut and a 2017 protected first-round pick. He made his debut for the Mavericks two days later, recording nine points and 10 rebounds off the bench in a 96–83 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. On March 3, 2017, in his first start for the Mavericks, Noel tied a career high with 17 rebounds while scoring 15 points in a 104–100 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Noel played 22 games with the Mavericks and averaged 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.1 blocks  while shooting 57.5 percent from the field. Noel was starter on 12 of 22 games with Mavs.

Breaking! Mavericks Acquired Nerlens Noel In Exchange for Andrew Bogut

The Philadelphia 76ers finally realized that their 2013 overall number 6 draft pick is not the player that they expected him to be. After 3 years and with close to 10 average points per game and whole lot of injury issues, the Sixers have finally decided to move on.
Nerlens Noel is still a young guy at 22 years old and I personally think that he has not reached his full potential yet, not only because he is limited with injuries but because of the emergence of other big players in Philadelphia.  With Joel Embiid who I think will also be problematic,  Noel’s minutes have gone down to just 19 minutes per game.

The Mavericks sees some light  in Noel and traded for him in exchange for Andrew Bogut and a first-round draft pick.

Is this a good move for the Mavs?

It was previously rumored that the Boston Celtics are discussing terms to trade their 3rd overall pick for Philadelphia’s Jahlil Okafor, but according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics are discussing a trade where Nerlens Noel will be traded to Boston for the 3rd overall pick.

Will the Bulls and Sixers Pull Off a Rose-Noel Swap?

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to trade one of their promising big man, either Jhalil Okafor or Nerlens Noel. According to the reports, the Sixers could offer Nerlens Noel to the Chicago Bulls in exchanged for Derrick Rose. Reports also added that the Bulls could also throw in the contracts of Mike Dunleavy and Taj Gibson to the Sixers along with a first round pick to clear cap space.

Everybody believes that the Bulls need to move on and trade Rose who suffered multiple injuries starting 2011-2012 season. The league’s youngest MVP averaged 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 66 games this season. He only played a total of 166 regular games and 13 playoff games since 2011.

The Bulls will get a promising young big man that they could build along with Jimmy Butler and Bobby Portis and could probably land big free agent names with their cap space if the deal falls through. Noel, the 6th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, averaged 11.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists. 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks in 29.3 minutes per game this season. On the other hand. the Sixers will get a star point guard in Rose that could lead the team to their first playoff appearance since 2012.

Hawks, Sixers Discussing a Noel-Teague Swap

Jeff Teague drives over Nerlens Noel

According to the reports, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks are discussing a deal that will send Jeff Teague to the 76ers in exchange for Nerlens Noel. The Hawks are looking for a big man in replacement of Al Horford in case he leaves the Atlanta and sign elsewhere this summer while the 76ers are looking to unload one of their young frontcourt players as Joel Embiid and Dario Saric are expected to play next season, either Okafor or Noel will be traded. The 76ers want a guard in return.

Meanwhile the Boston Celtics are reportedly interested to Okafor as they are willing to give their prized third overall pick in this coming NBA Draft for the promising big man. The 76ers are expected to draft either guards Kris Dunn, Jamal Murray or Buddy Hield.

2015 NBA POST DRAFT Analysis : The 76ers, their process and their 3rd pick !

#3rd pick of 2015 NBA DRAFT : Jahlil Okafor

Philly wanted Russell so bad because they already have Embiid, Noel and Saric as their front court. Due to the fact that Lakers picked Russell, they had no choice but to draft the best player available. At first I felt a little bit uncomfortable with how the 76ers is running their organization. On the other hand Okafor and Noel will compliment each other well, while Embiid is still on a healing process. For Okafor though, he might need to trust the process as well since they might not win many games this year even if Embiid is to come back this season, the bright side is let’s say Saric might play after this season, that makes Noel an intriguing prospect for next year’s draft since the best big man next year might be Skal Labissiere after that its a bit weak compared to the big’s in this year’s draft.
The combo of Embiid and Okafor could be the force to reckoned with for years to come barring injuries.

The fans and the current players though will have to see this team in the top 3 pick again next year,

Here is the introductory press conference of Okafor: Courtesy of Jory Peto NBA.

There were not a lot of smiles from Okafor, although it may be his personality but hush young fella you still have a young career and if Embiid recovers 100% free agents would want to play for the 76ers.
