FIFA Club World Cup Winner: Real Madrid

Real Madrid, First Team To Retain The Title

2017 is one of the best year for Zinedine Zidane’s men as they won La Liga, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Real Madrid FC won their third FIFA Club World Cup and the first ever team in the Club World Cup history to win a back-to-back championship. Cristiano Ronaldo got the match’s only goal after scoring a stunning free kick goal against Brazil’s Gremio in Saturday’s final.
Los Blancos have drawn FC Barcelona on the number of Club World Cups they won in total. Both teams already have three Club World Cup trophies.
The Croatian wizard, Luka Modric, has won the Golden Ball award in Real Madrid’s Club World Cup victory. Modric put so much effort and bossing at the midfield area in the final game. He shows the world that he is one of the finest passer that played the game. The former Tottenham star also shows that he deserved it and is fit to win the award by inspiring the whole team to win the title.
Zinedine Zidane is hoping for a sextuple after Real Madrid’s 1-0 win against Gremio. “We have the dream that it (sextuple) will happen, we have achieved the third title of the season, the fifth of the year, and it was importand for us,” Zidane told the reporters. Zidane is also focusing on chasing the top of the table in La Liga as they are eight points away from the top seed team, FC Barcelona.
Real Madrid’s next match is against the tough and current number one in La Liga, FC Barcelona. The most awaited football game in Spain, the El Clasico, will be next week. It is the first El Clasico of the season at will be held at Santiago Bernabeu.

Every fan of the two teams around the world cannot wait for this season’s El Clasico as both teams are fired up in facing each another. This upcoming game will be written again in the history as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are both eager to win the El Clasico this season.

AZKALS: Azkals Places Second In CTFA Invitational Tournament

07 DECEMBER 2017: MANILA – Azkals grabs second place in the recently concluded CTFA Invitational Tournament held in Taipei from December 1 to 5. In spite of an undermanned team, and three-day preparation – the quickly assembled Azkals composed of a few veterans, players from the U22 SEA Games squad and University stand out squeezed a second-place finish ahead of Timor Leste and Laos.
Most of the regular Azkals were not available because they we not released by their Clubs due to the PFL season is in its semi-finals stage. The CTFA Invitational Tournament dates are also outside of the FIFA dates so a number of call ups on foreign based Filipino players were not successful.
Asked about his reaction on Mr. Dan Palami’s description of the Azkals outing in Taipei as the Taiwan ‘debacle”, Mr. Jefferson Cheng, Team Manager says:
“If this is accurate, I am surprised with the comments of Dan (Mr. Palami). We are working for the same organisation which is the PFF, and representing one country, Our Country. I think a more encouraging and supportive stance will do more good for Philippine Football than complaining and maligning the players and coaches who did their best for their country. I think whoever makes these negative statements are being unfair. We ended up second place with 3 days preparation, the players were given the best organisation one can possibly do with the time, and logistics constraints we have plus the conflict that the CTFA Tournament have with the PFL schedule.
My role is temporary as the PFF Secretary General asked for assistance because most of the Clubs with the regular Azkals players including Mr. Palami’s Global FC are in the PFL semi-finals hence the Clubs prioritise the League instead of the National Team that is why they did not release the players. The regular Azkals Coach Thomas Dooley also had a very important previous commitment to speak in an AFC event representing the PFF.
Mr. Palami suggested certain players, we contacted them even bought them airline tickets but they did not come for some reason.

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

During the Tournament were some calls and red cards that did not go our way which could have changed the complexion of the games and the result of the Tournament. I am not offering any excuses as there are none needed. The Players and Coaches did their best and what is important is they were there on the field fighting. We had three days to prepare and the players coming in from a long hectic PFL schedule, a 2nd place finish is descent under the circumstances.
We should draw our attention to the positives. We may not have won the tournament but the winner here is Philippine Football. The exposure given to our younger players was the right thing to do. Just ask Miyagi from Cebu, who scored his first international goal with the Senior National Team, ask what the Cebuano football fans think about that. Or Gayoso from Ateneo who had his first cap. What about the sight of the younger players playing alongside their Idols! The senior players mentoring and leading the younger ones was a very good and encouraging thing to see. I think this is what team sports are all about. This experience of our younger players will only encourage and bring more fans, supporters and followers to our National Team and Philippine Football.  Importante magtulungan tayo.”

Maro continues, “Events such as this one also showcases the technical capability of the club in finding future footballers in the country.”
LA Galaxy Coach Wes Meadows, on the other hand, says, “It has been great to partner up with Davao Aguilas, their staff, and players as well.  Obviously for us, with 100 kids being here, we needed additional staff, and they have been very accommodating.  It is great to work out and have this activity with a club here locally.”

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

As for the participants, Coach Meadows had this to say, “The kids have been great.  And for us, LA Galaxy, we are fortunate to travel all over the world, and domestically, be able to see a lot of players.  I think here in the Philippines, there’s a lot of potential here.  Overall, we are certainly pleased with the level.”
Before arriving in Manila, the LA Galaxy coaches came from Korea, where they had tryouts for their second team for 10 days, before stopping in Guam for another youth football event there.
With the success of its first Youth Football Day, Davao Aguilas FC thus intends to hold similar events in other parts of the country in the near future.

MILO fulfills dreams of nine young booters in FC Barcelona Camp

The MILO Philippine team with FCB legend Eric Abidal, coaches from the FCB Escola, and delegates from other countries

MILO fulfills dreams of nine young booters in FC Barcelona Camp

Manila, Philippines – MILO and FC Barcelona recently sent nine deserving children on a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience world-class football training in Barcelona, Spain. The children that made up the MILO Philippine team were chosen from the selection camp held by MILO and FC Barcelona in September in Manila. These young football players, who showed heart and skills on the pitch, and values such as humility, effort, ambition, respect, and teamwork, embarked on the Road to Barcelona, a journey that made their dreams come true.

“Seeing the children’s awe as they saw Camp Nou for the first time, their eagerness to learn as they engaged with their coaches and fellow players, and the joy on their faces as they played on the pitch is priceless. They have brought pride to the country as they represented the Philippines in Spain,” said Robbie De Vera, MILO Sports Marketing Executive. “We at MILO are delighted to make the children’s dreams come true. We are looking forward to bringing more Filipinos to Barcelona in the coming years.”

The junior booters were immersed in a series of training sessions with FC Barcelona Escola’s esteemed football coaches, both on the pitch at Ciutat Esportivo, the home of La Masia, FC Barcelona’s youth academy, and in the classroom at Camp Nou, together with delegates from Australia, Colombia, Jamaica, New Zealand, Tahiti, Thailand, Singapore, and Panama. The training sessions were modeled after the FCB Escola’s modules, which are based on the Barça methodology that includes a creative and attacking brand of football and the promotion of positive values. The children were also given with a well-deserved break that included a tour of Barcelona’s top sights and cultural gems.

“What I like most about the trip is that I was able to experience something that was only in my dreams before,” said Lowell Tortona, 12-year-old football player from Xavier School. “I was also able meet new friends along the way, not only from the Philippines but also from other countries, and we have bonded over our common passion for football.”

The ultimate highlight was the training session with FCB legend Eric Abidal, an experience they will surely never forget. To complete their trip, MILO and FCB granted the young booters’ dream of seeing their idols up close on the pitch as they watched FC Barcelona’s match in Camp Nou against Malaga in La Liga.

“MILO hopes that through this experience, the young booters of the MILO Philippine team may serve as an inspiration to other athletes of any sport to pursue their passions and reach for their dreams,” added De Vera.

Azkals Share Points with Yemen, Remains on Top of Group F

The Philippine Azkals are among the national teams in action this international break as they continue their campaign to make it to the 2019 AFC Asia Cup.
The Azkals faced a very familiar foe in Yemen. A team they have been grouped with during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
This time, both teams slug it out for Group F’s top spot. A position which is very important to be in, since only the top 2 teams of each group will qualify for Asia’s premier football competition 2 years from now.
The match against Yemen was held in Qatar where a good number of Filipinos were in attendance to support the Azkals. Both teams had great share of possession. Etheridge though, seemed to be the busier keeper as the Yemenis had great chances throughout the game.
In the 63rd minute, Yemen scored the game’s opening goal after a scramble right in front of the Azkals goal. From thereon, the Azkals created better chances. The Filipinos were keen to equalize and share the points with Yemen. Time wasn’t on their side but they kept pushing, until Paul Mulders found Mike Ott who easily found the back of the net in the 89th minute of the match.
It was a huge relief for the Azkals since they knew that if they gave the win away, Yemen would take the group’s top spot.
The Azkals will face Nepal next. The game is scheduled to take place on November 14 and will be an away match for our national team.

Photo Caption: Davao Aguilas FC Team Captain Phil Younghusband going for the goal, at one of their recent matches in Tagum City, which ended in a draw.

3 OCTOBER 2017 – MANILA: Five Davao Aguilas FC (DAFC) players, have been called up to be part of the Philippine men’s national team squad for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers Match between the Philippines and Yemen.  The match will take place on October 10, 2017, at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
This will be the second time that Azkals and Yemen will face each other in the qualifiers.  Their last encounter ended in a 2-2 draw last September 5, 2017, at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, which saw top Davao Aguilas FC players Phil and James Younghusband contributing 1 goal each, for the Philippine side.
The five (5) Davao Aguilas players are as follows:

    1.    DE BRUYCKER, Dylan
    2.    O’DONNELL, Nicholas
    3.    ROTA, Simone
    4.    YOUNGHUSBAND, James
    5.    YOUNGHUSBAND, Phil

Davao Aguilas FC Stuns Ceres Negros FC with a Draw of 1-1

21 SEPTEMBER 2017 – TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE:  Still fresh from their run in the AFC Cup, Ceres Negros FC plunged back into action right away against Davao Aguilas FC for the PFL, first at the match at Rizal Memorial Stadium (RMS) last weekend, then next at Davao Aguilas’ home pitch in Tagum City last September 21.
But in a span of four days, Davao Aguilas seems to have changed their moves inside and outside the pitch.  Davao Aguilas changed its head coach, from its previous Australian coach to its current head coach Marlon Maro.  Maro was previously head coach of U22 Philippine men’s football team and led the Philippine contingent to the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last month.
Along with that drastic change, came a change in their tactics and strategy as well.  Ceres Negros FC on the other hand, marched into Davao most likely thinking it was still the same team they dealt with only days back, and that they had the upper hand, being on the upper end of the PFL table.
In the pre-match press conference in Tagum City where Coach Maro was presented, he said, “There will be a lot of changes but there is only one option, which is winning, the team is also in high spirits, we are very positive and looking forward to our first win.”
In their match yesterday, the Davaoenos became unpredictable, and in fact snatched the first goal in the 27th minute, with the help of James Younghusband. The first half ended with a score of 1-0, in favor of the spirited and reinvigorated Aguilas.
The close to 4,000 spectators was surprisingly quiet, perhaps surprised that the home team was able to control the game against Ceres Negros FC in the first half.
A 2nd goal by the Aguilas, however, was unfortunately deemed by the referee as an offside.
Ceres Negros FC on the other hand, recovered and equalized the game with a goal on the 73rd minute, courtesy of Fernando Rodriguez.
Coach Marlon Maro at the post-match press conference said, “We indeed won, however, the referee nullified our second goal, it’s his opinion, we respect it.  To our fans, we are still on the right track for the remaining matches.”
Davao Aguilas FC faces FC Meralco Manila this Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
