England’s greatest football rivalry opens a new chapter

If you are a football fan, there is a big chance that you are very aware of this classic rivalry. There are other big rivalries over the years in English football, like the Manchester Derby (Man City vs Man United) Merseyside Derby (Liverpool vs Everton) North London Derby (Arsenal vs Spurs)  London Derby (Arsenal vs Chelsea) and others. But no rivalry in England comes close to the North-West Derby Liverpool vs Manchester United. It is one of the biggest rivalries in Europe, This rivalry is on par with Spain’s El Clasico (FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid) and Italy’s Derby della Madonnina (AC Milan vs Inter Milan). And during the early hours of Octoboer 18 in the Philippines, The two clubs will once again try to show the world why this rivalry is one of the biggest rivalry in football.
Liverpool and Manchester United are as expected the two most successful clubs in England with the two have a combined 124 trophies under their name 60 for Liverpool and 64 for Manchester United. They won 38 combined league titles 18 for Liverpool and 20 for Man United. From mid 60’s to the entire of 80’s Liverpool has dominated the League, FA Cup, League Cup and as well the European Competitions, having won 28 titles during those time. However when the 90’s arrived Manchester United has switched the tide and became the new dominant force of England from the ealry 90’s until the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. During Alex Ferguson’s era, Manchester United has won 13 league titles, 5 FA Cup titles, 4 League Cup titles and 4 European Titles. However since Alex Ferguson left United has won only 1 trophy which is the 2016 FA Cup. for Liverpool, even failing to win the league title since 1990, Liverpool has still won 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, and 4 European Titles in the last 26 years. Even if Man United has a 57-49 edge to Liverpool in the domestic titles, Liverpool can still call themselves as the most successful team in Europe from England having won the most number of European titles of any English team, with 11 titles. 5 Champions League, 4 Europa League and 3 UEFA Super Cup titles.
Now, Liverpool are currently 4th in the league while Man United are in 7th position but only 3 points are separating them, with firepowers from both teams, we expect them that they will give the fans that will watch the game in Anfield a feel on why this is always the most talked about game in English football. Adam Lallana and Wijnaldum are expected to miss for Liverpool because of injuries however Clyne and Lovren are now fully recovered so we can expect Jurgen Klopp to start them. Liverpool fans hope that they will once again see the magic of their midfielders which are composed of Coutinho, Mane and Firmino. Manchester United meanwhile are looking for Rashford and Lingard to be more aggressive and try to feed Ibrahimovic in the front. Pogba and Mata will be very vital piece too for the Red Devils if they want to secure an away win.
