The Philippine Football team Azkals’ miraculous winnings in Asia started a wave for the country that we too can eye for the most coveted World Cup. 

For the first time in history, The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has launched a search for the next Philippine Azkals who will undergo training for the 2019 World Cup qualifier.

More than 1000 boys from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao tried their lucks. Only 22 are selected. 

This documentary film is a story of dreams.

Azkals and Football activities in the Philippines

After the Azkals lost to Kuwait it seems there are no more football in the Philippines. So what’s next? In the continuous effort to promote football in the Philippines Smart will run the Smart Clubs Football Championship. The Azkals player are dispersed to different teams and will play against each other. Not much of an event but still better than nothing. (story here)

Bittersweet, this is exactly what I felt after the loss of the Philippine National Soccer team (Azkals) to Kuwait last July 28 at the Rizal Stadium in Manila.

Azkals have given Filipino Football fans with more than what was expected of them and their recent accomplishments are already unmatched and unheard of in the history of football in the Philippines.

They left Filipino fans salivating for more and dreaming of moving forward to the 2014 FIFA World Cup . The game with Kuwait for most football analyst is a given as Kuwait football team is much more superior that you can almost expect a beating. which exactly what happen in their first game in Kuwait as they were swallowed with a 3 – 0 score and the same result on the second game 2 -1 in favor of the Kuwait Football team.
