And Again! Jon Jones Failed Drug Test at UFC 214

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed the Light Heavyweight Champion that he failed another drug test resulting to being provisionally suspended by the UFC. Reportedly, the positive test for steroids could result in a ban up to four years. UFC on FOX told per Dana White though, the UFC has not yet stripped Jon Jones of his title.
Jon Jones is a tremendous talent who is being considered by MMA world as one of the greatest already. But the things he have been into tell it is more of a waste of talent. His previous suspension was due to USADA violation occurred during a test from June 2016. Jon Jones was pulled from UFC 200. Jon Jones came back and captured the interim light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux in April 2016, setting the octagon for a supposed blockbuster rematch against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Prior to this, he tested positive for cocaine in January 2015 and hit-and-run a pregnant lady three months after the same year. With Jon Jones’ drama for more than two years, fans already gave the fighter many chances. They were pumped for his return last July. The athlete even praised Daniel Cormier after he knocked his greatest rival out. Everybody got back on liking Jon Jones in the thought he would change this time around.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Jones, as it relates to the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and future UFC participation. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed the day before Jones’ bout at UFC 214 in Anaheim, CA, and USADA will work to ensure that the CSAC has the necessary information to determine its proper judgment of Jones’ potential anti-doping violation.
Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Jon Jones has taken back his throne and more of UFC 214

Really happy about already the best fight card of 2017 for me. UFC 214 aka Cormier vs. Jones 2, so I sit down and celebrated by enjoying a nice one post I want to write.

We don’t usually see the humble side of Jon “Bones” especially to Daniel Cormier. The new light heavy weight Champion of the world put the rivalry aside and gave props to his opponent instead.

Jon Jones: “Big thank you to all MMA supporters and the fans around the world for all the love and support. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this long process. I’m going to do my best to be the champion that you guys deserve to have. Daniel Cormier has been one of the biggest sources of motivation I’ve had in the last two-three years and I thank him for that and for pushing me to a higher level.”

Jones got his title back via third round KO at Honda Center in Anaheim, California on Saturday, July 29, 2017. The kick to the head followed by knee to the body started off Cormier’s wobbling until he dropped on to the canvas. Referee McCarthy waived the fight as Jones was relentless with his strikes. He finished DC on the ground.

After two years of waiting! The most anticipated rematch happened. Jones did exactly what he said he would do. To put the talking to an end. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones made his UFC comeback on April 2016 at UFC 197. The drug (January 2015) and road (April 2015) incident removed the world no. 1 from UFC rankings. Daniel Cormier disappointed the fans by pulling out of the fight last minute. Ovince St Preux stepped up instead. The fight was not as exciting as his last fights but still he was announced as that LHW Interim Champion of the world. Before April of the said year ended, UFC gave Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier as the main event for UFC 200. But three days before the Fight Card of All Time, Jones failed another drug test resulting to being pulled out from UFC 200. He was suspended for one year which was officially over last July 6, 2017. Last May, UFC booked the LHW rivals again to fight.

Jon Jones, Brian Ortega, Renato Moicano and Volkan Oezdemir each earned 50,000 for Performance of the Night bonuses.

Brian Ortega handed Renato Moicano his professional loss when “T-City” sank in a guillotine choke at 2:59 of the third round to secure the submission win after a firefight on the feet for almost three full rounds. The win gives Ortega four wins now in the UFC as he improves to 12-0 in his MMA career.

Cris Cyborg finally wears UFC gold around here waist after taking out tough Tonya Evinger by TKO at 1:56 of the third round. Cyborg controlled the entirety of the fight but Evinger had her moments, evading strikes and looking to clinch. She even landed a takedown in the first round but Cyborg stood right up. In the end the significant strikes began to add up for Cyborg, who finished landing 83 sign. strikes to just 23 for Evinger.

In a fight that lived up to its massive expectations, Robbie Lawler edged Cowboy Cerrone in a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in a fight that left everyone in the arena wanting more. Cowboy landed just 1/13 takedowns but landed more total strikes, 83-72 and had the edge in significant strikes landed, 72-64. Lawler came out on fire in the first round, pushing Cerrone back and landing bi shots that rocked Cowboy a bit on two occasions. But Cerrone owned the second round, landing a few head kicks and firing off combos. The two combined for almost 60 significant strikes in the final round before heading to the judges.

Volkan Oezdemir continues his shocking rise in the light heavyweight division with a first-round TKO win against Jimi Manuwa in just :22 of the first round. Manuwa looked to clinch with Oezdemir, who responded with a few big left hands that rocked Manuwa. As “Poster Buy” retreated, Oezdemir charged forward and caught Manuwa, who went tumbling to the mat before the finish moments later. Oezdemir now moves to 3-0 in the UFC.

Ricardo Lamas steamrolled through prospect Jason Knight with a flurry of big winging punches before finishing him at 4:34 of the first round by TKO. It seemed like Knight, who is very confident off his back, thought he could eat punches long enough or until he dropped, where he would be able to survive because of his grappling. But Lamas kept unloading with big shots and when Knight finally fell the referee was forced to jump in and stop the fight.

Tyron Woodley stopped all 24 of Demian Maia’s takedowns and won in a landslide unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 49-46). Woodley out-struck Maia 45-23 in what was generally not appreciated by fans in attendance. UFC 214 Prediction: Potentially Rusty Jon Jones Still too Big and Too Strong for Good Old Daniel Cormier

Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier a rematch for the ages in the UFC.

Saturday Night in the US, Sunday morning Manila, one of the most anticipated rematches in fight sports history will happen.
UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 tomorrow,  July 29, 2017, at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Jon Jones was the youngest ever champion at 23 years old. He also holds the record for the most successful and consecutive light heavyweight title defense in the UFC. To say the least, he is one tough and talented fighter inside the cage. He has dominated the sports and is still in the prime of his fighting career.  If only Jon Jones could keep his head together and get out of trouble he would have done more and could have probably retained the title belt that he lost due to issues outside the cage. Jones is now 30 years old and he last fought against Ovince Saint Preux on April 23, 2016, and won the interim UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Later stripped of the title.

On the other hand, Daniel Cormier at 38 is enjoying a 4 fight winning streak that dated back January at UFC 182 when he first met Jon Jones and lost via unanimous decision. The loss to Jones also marked his first and only loss in his MMA career. Cormier has risen up after that loss and has won the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and the  Performance of the Night against a tough opponent in Anthony Johnson. Fast forward today he has defended the belt four times in a row against Alexander Gustafsson, Anderson Silva and his last match were a rematch against Anthony Johnson. He won that fight via Submission (rear-naked choke). On July 29, the previous owner of the belt will try to get it back once again.

Prediction: Why we think Jon Jones will win via early KO or submission

Standing at 6’4″ Jon Jones look strong, prime and ready to take back his championship belt against 5’10” champion Daniel Cormier. Jones last fought inside the cage, April 2016 when he defeated Ovince Saint Preux. Since 2013, Jones only fought once a year. He has become a part time MMA fighter due to his battles outside of the cage. Jon Jones may be a little rusty and unfocused but his pure talent, size, and strength may be enough to defeat Daniel Cormier who is aging at 38 years old. While everyone is seeing a close fight as both fighters are good in their own ways, I am seeing a fight that won’t last to three rounds. These are professional fighters and they will fight according to plan but I, with the animosity between them, can see Jon Jones going at it right away just to prove a point.  Jon may attack right away with a combination of strikes and ground game. Cormier will have a success early in the fight and will be able to hit Jones back with his own strikes.  Mid part of the fight Cormier would be out of gas and ultimately, Cormier the world class wrestler, will be obliged to take the fight to the ground but it would be a big mistake as Jones who would be too slick will be able to control the situation and either submit or KO the defending champion.
To be honest, I want Jon Jones to lose because he is not a good role model to fight fans but we all know that the fight is not decided on the basis of being a good guy or a bad guy. It is decided on who came prepared and who is the better fighter and that is Jon Jones.
Jon Jones still got the fire and the motivation to be a great fighter that he once was.

UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2

On July 29, 2107, Daniel Cormier will once again face the only person that has given him a loss in his MMA career. Cormier at 38 years old isn’t slowing down and will probably not settle down until he faces Jon Bones Jones in a grudge match that has been long overdue.

Currently, the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, Cormier has beaten every man after Jones including two fights with Anthony Johnson, Gustafsson and Anderson Silva.
Jon Jones, on the other hand, was a promising young athlete and could have been the face of UFC right now if only he was able to live a straight life. Jones had a lot of problems including issues with drugs and is looking to get back on his feet on July 29.
Jones may still have the upper hand in this fight given that he is young and athletic but Cormier is on a mission to prove to the world that he is the real champion.

UFC Fighters Flagged for Failed USADA Drug Test Since New Policy Implemented

On June 2015, UFC and USADA started the new drug testing program and eversince it was implemented many fighters have failed.

The latest who received suspension for Doping Violation was Chad Mendes. The featherweight contender tested positive for GHRP-6. UFC removed him from Featherweight Rankings.

A temporary suspension for Jon Jones was handed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission until the commission can have a full hearing which will likely happen in September or October. The former light heavyweight champion who is considered one of the greatests in the sport tested positive for clomiphene. Disappoints me much as a fan.

Another one who tested positive for hydroxyl-clomiphene was Brock Lesnar. He may face a maximum two-year suspension from UFC competition but not from WWE because Lesnar is classified as a part-time athlete and thus he’s not subjected to the company’s talent wellness program.

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion B.J.Penn has been suspended by USADA for six months due to out-of-competition IV use. Penn was pulled out of UFC 199 bout with Cole Miller.

UFC lightweight Islam Makhachev tested positive for the Meldonium. Makhachev underwent a radiofrequency ablation procedure in December 2014 and physician recommended to incorporate it into his follow-up treatment. The fighter discontinued use because he was aware that the substance would be prohibited. USADA ruled Makhachev with a ‘No Fault’ for his Meldonium.

George Sullivan voluntarily disclosed information that could pose a potential compliance issue with the Anti-Doping Policy. Sullivan has been removed from his fight with Hector Urbina from the UFC on Fox 20 card.

Former heavyweight champion Frank Mir joined those who have failed drug tests. The BJJ black belt tested positive for oral turinabol metabolites.

Yoel Romero tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). He was removed out of UFC Rankings. Romero was former No. 2 Middleweight contender.

Machida has been flagged by USADA and admitted the use of 7-Keto DHEA on his pre-fight. He claims he had no idea it was on the banned substances list.

NSAC suspended welterweight Nick Diaz for five years because of the third marijuana-related offense of his career. Diego Brandao also has tested positive for marijuana at UFC 195.

Other fighters in the list are as follows:

▶Ricardo Abreu, Substance: Unspecified
▶Daniel Omielanczuck, Substance: Meldonium
▶Carlos Diego Ferreira, Substance: Ostarine
▶Viscardi Andrade, Substance: Currently unspecified
▶Felipe Olivieri, Substance: Methyltestosterone
▶Tim Means, Substance: Ostarine
▶Abdul Kerim Edilov, Substance: Meldonium
▶Gleison Tibau, Substance: EPO
▶Mirko Cro cop, Substance: Admission of usage of HGH

Emotional Jon Jones Addressed His Stripped Of Fighting In UFC 200 And Failed Drug Test

The former light heavyweight champion looked okay when he walked inside the room, but became very emotional after few words and walked out at one point.

He has no idea what he could have tested positive for. He couldn’t pronounce it and never heard of it. The B sample will be tested today according to Jon Jones and that he would never take something that would enhance him in anyway. It was his manager, Malki Kawa, who answered next questions from the media.

Jon Jones was asked what he would tell Daniel Cormier. He starts to cry as he says, “I haven’t had an opportunity to talk to DC. I just want to tell him that I’m sorry. I know this fight mean a lot to him”

“I believe that something good will come from this but it’s hard to see it. I’m sorry that I’m crying guys”, Jones add when asked to explain how he feeling and how it hurts.

Seeing Jon Jones actually cry on the stream during the interview is heartbreaking. It’s really hard to be a JBJ fan right now.

His probation officer also said that all these things Jon Jones is going through right now has no impact on his probation. Jones is serving 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to hit-and-run in April 2015.

Jones said he would come back if he has to sit out due to a 2 year suspension.

Jon Bones Jones Is Out Of UFC 200

The Interim Light Heavyweight Champion failed another drug test resulting to being pulled out from this weekend’s UFC 200. Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt is the new main event.

Jon Jones is a tremendous talent who is being considered by MMA world as one of the greatest already. But the things he have been into tell it is more of a waste of talent. His previous suspensions were due to cocaine and hit and run incidents. Fans gave the fighter one more chance. They were pumped for his return last April. The athlete even thank the people via his posts on social media for the support and that he would not disappoint the ones who believed in him. The most talked about and much awaited second match with Daniel Cormier is not going to happen. Tomorrow Jon Jones will give his statement about the issue.

The substance he failed on and flagged by USADA as potential violation have not revealed by UFC yet.

UFC 197 on back burner?

UFC 197 main event “might” be put on a back burner following another legal woes by the former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones to make the situation worst, there was rumor spreading about Cormier’s leg
injury.

Jon Jones was pulled over and received multiple citations.  In the video below you can see Jon Jones as he goes off on the police officer. Jones was allegedly cited for drag racing. I thought the video was like a verbal grappling, Jon Jones tried to talk his way out and let his emotions got the best of him. In the end he had to tap out by signing the papers.

On the hand the current Light Heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier is rumored to be injured. It’s been spreading over the internet that Cormier was spotted at a wrestling tournament and based on the “unconfirmed” report, it’s seemed that the champ’s left leg was hurt.

DC’s camp hasn’t released any statement as of yet. Jon Jones on the other hand might have a rematch in the court with the police officer anytime soon.

Jon “Bones” Jones and Daniel “DC” Cormier rivalry never run out of drama which I think spice things up.

In UFC 197 scheduled on April 23 the MMA world witness how will the drama end between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
