Orlando Magic’s Elfrid Payton and WNBA Sue Wicks in Manila for the 2017 Jr. NBA NTC

May 11, 2017 – Orlando Magic’s Elfrid Payton and Former WNBA Player Sue Wicks are in the Philippines to help young NBA hopefuls get a taste of what it’s like to train and play like an NBA player.
Over 30,000 players will be partcipating in the 2017 Jr. NBA National Training Camp with the hopes of becoming the 2017 Jr. NBA All-Stars. 37 boys and girls were chosen from Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camps in Cebu, Manila, Cagayan De Oro, Quezon and Alaska Power Camp in Manila who will participate in different advanced fundamental skills training and exhibition games at Don Bosco Technical Institute from May 12-13 and at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in May 14. They will be trained by Payton and Wicks to determine the 8 boys and 8 girls who will be named as Jr. NBA All-Stars.
When asked about what characteristics they are looking forward to the young hopefuls they will be training, Payton said that he wants to see a player with leadership and values teamwork. While Wicks said that she hopes that the kids will have fun and they will earn what they worked hard for after this camp.
The 8 girls and boys will go on an overseas NBA experience trip together with other Jr. NBA All-Stars from around Southeast Asia and with the 2017 Jr. NBA Coach of the Year.
