In Honor of their Retirement, Let’s Take a Look Back at the Marquez and Bradley’s Epic 2013 Slugfest

Two of the best boxers of our time recently retired and while there are still a lot of active great boxers, there will never be another Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez. The two boxers have given us a lot of great memories including their individual fights against our very own Manny Pacquiao whom they both defeated.
In honor of the retirement of the great Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley, let us take a look back at their epic 2013 slugfest. This is one of the great and closely contested boxing events in recent years that could have gone either way.
Timothy Bradley vs. Juan Manuel Marquez is a boxing welterweight championship fight. The bout was held on October 12, 2013, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on HBO Pay-Per-View. Bradley won via a split decision. The judges scored the fight 116-112, 115-113, 113-115. via wikipedia.

Big Cash Wont Convince Marquez to Get Inside the Ring with Pacquiao Again

Manny Pacquiao probably chasing to changing the history between his Mexican rival but Marquez isn’t keen on going inside the ring against Manny Pacquiao regardless of how much money they offer.
Marquez at 43 years old is ovbiously not getting any younger. He last fought May of 2014 against Mike Alvarado were he won via unanimous decision and have eased off since then. He obviously hasn’t retired yet and his long time coach still thinks that the proud Mexican can still fight at a top notch level and they are planning his return.
With the recent fallout of the Cotto-Kirkland fight due to injury sustained by James Kirkland, Cotto is cramming to fight a replacement fight in order to keep Miguel Cotto active who also fought and lost more than a year ago against Canelo Alvarez. The supposed event was titled The Return because both Kirkland and Cotto was in a long layoff.
With Marquez back on the prowl and preferring the fight with Cotto instead of Manny Pacquiao, both Cotto and Marquez may find a common ground to make the fight happen and heck they don’t event have to change the name of the event.

Marquez taking shots at Pacquiao and fans

Many of us was in shock when Juan Manuel Marquez knockout Manny Pacquiao, most of us immediately  want to see a rematch, majority of the boxing expert predicted that there will be a rematch, Bob Arum thinks that if both Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao win with their matches, he will make it happen, Pacquiao definitely want to avenge his lost, but   what do Marquez think about this all?
Marquez is not inclined to fighting Manny Pacquiao again, he mentioned that it is not about the money but its about pride and honor. that means keep on chasing but he is not going to get another fight with me.
here is a report from Koncrete Jungle

Do you think there would be another Marquez vs Pacquiao fight

Bradley vs. Marquez The Buzz, Check out 24/7 preview

Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, the conquerors of Pacquiao are set to fight each other to prove who is better in the ring. October 12, 2013 will be an interesting day in boxing as both men will try to continue their winning streak. Check out the hype video below and watch out for HBO 24/7  for the Marquez Bradley fight.

Who do you think will win?

Pacquiao KO worth more than all the money in the world – Marquez

A report from ESPN says:

“Speaking sincerely, I don’t think about that anymore,” Marquez said of the notion of yet another Pacquiao fight. “Anything that was pending was settled, in every way. If he would have knocked me out the way I did to him, how am I going to ask for another fight?

“Keeping that feeling would be grandiose, and to have my Mexican supporters and the whole world enjoy that feeling and say, ‘Remember the best pound-for-pound fighter that was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez?’ — to me, that is worth more than all the money in the world.”  – Juan Manuel Marquez

In a recent interview with Juan Manuel Marquez by ESPN, he was asked if he was willing to fight Pacquiao again and Juan Manuel Marquez was pretty blunt on his answer, Top Rank and Zanfer Promotions have been open about their plans for a fight next year that would match the winner of Bradley-Marquez with the winner of the Pacquiao-Brandon Rios bout on Nov. 23 but Marquez don’t want nothing of it.
“We know that the offer will be tempting, but it isn’t worth more than the feeling, what was lived, what was acquired after that knockout,” Marquez said. “That’s worth more than several million dollars. I would rather retire with this feeling than take a risk in whatever happens with Pacquiao [such as another controversial decision].”
I guess Manny Pacquiao and Filipinos, as heartbreaking as it is would have to settle with the lost, every time we see that Picture above its just heartbreaking, I don’t know how many more time I should say heartbreaking because it is really. Juan Manuel Marquez on the other hand is just being wise, he knew that Pacquiao still got the capability to beat him and wont risk that feeling. The Mexican will forever be remember as the person who defeated the Pound for Pound champion Manny Pacquiao.
Every superman got a kryptonite.

Its a toss up between Marquez and Bradley?

We are sure that Manny Pacquiao wants to fight and we are definitely sure that he prefer to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. He wants to redeem himself from the devastating KO lost that he received from his ultimate rival in the ring, no way that he will let Marquez get away with that kind of a win
You would expect that Marquez would easily agreed to another fight because there are no other fights bigger than the fight with Manny Pacquiao, but unfortunately he is not decided whether to accept it or not, there are a lot of speculations on the reasons but this could come down to either money or Marquez just want to ensure his victory over Pacquiao and don’t want to give him another chance.
Bob Arum, promoter of Manny Pacquiao however already have a backup plan and that is the rematch with Timothy Bradley. The opponent of Pacquiao is basically a toss up between Marquez and Bradley but ultimately Marquez can decide if he wants the fight.
The venue of this fight will be in Asia , either Macau or Singapore.

Who do you want to see as the opponent of Pacquiao?

September 14, potential Pacquiao vs Marquez 5th fight

Looks like the fifth fight of Maqruez and Pacquiao is coming together sooner than expected. We are hoping that Manny Pacquiao injury is not bad so he can continue fighting and avenge his devastating defeat against the Mexican warrior.
Through his representative Fernando Beltran, Juan Manuel Marquez has spoken.
“We would be willing to take a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao,” Beltran told ESPN Desportes.com in Mexico City.
“Logically we’ll find what’s most lucrative for him. Juan Manuel Marquez and I are gentlemen and we know that Pacquiao gave us an opportunity and he didn’t have to and most probably we will give it to him.”
Top Rank spokesperson Fred Sternburg confirmed that Pacquiao-Marquez 4 was a huge financial success and as such, a fifth fight would be a “no brainer.”
“Most likely it will be scheduled to coincide with the celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day weekend.”
Sternburg said Arum will take Pacquiao to the Lou Ruvo Center of the Las Vegas Cleveland Clinic for further examination to make sure that he’s fine.
The clinic specializes in brain health, including diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons and Lou Gehrig syndrome.

Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 is the best fight for 2012!

Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 is the best fight for 2012!

There are a lot of boxing communities and awards out there, and almost everyone of them recognize that the fight between Marquez and Pacquiao this year was one of the best fight for 2012. Check out the poster that I made as a tribute and recognition to the fight.  PacquiaoMarquez4 poster

Manny Pacquiao still making Headlines in boxing!

Even on a losing streak Manny Pacquiao still making headlines

Manny Pacquiao did not have a good 2012. This year he lost against Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez. It was a disappointing year not only for Team Pacquiao but also to his fans, many of us would not forget the way he looses against Marquez and if we thought that Timothy Bradley’s win was a shocker then Juan Manuel KO against Paquiao was the ultimate shocker of all.  Totally unexpected, no one saw this coming.
Even as Pacquiao lost inside the ring, his name still resonate in the boxing world. Both of his fight was consider an event to watch in boxing, both of which received awards for 2012, and even though Manny Pacquiao was on the loosing end of these fights, we know that he has accomplished his goal for the fans.
Manny Pacquiao wants the fans happy, and I know the boxing fans are. In the end, the boxing world is the winner because of Manny Pacquiao’s willingness to give a good fight! Cheers to Pacquiao!
Below are some of the awards and recognitions of Manny Pacquiao fights for 2012 (positive and negative)
From Yahoo Sports:
KNOCKOUT OF THE YEAR – Juan Manuel Marquez made a lot of noise about the judges prior to his fight with Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 8. It turns out he didn’t need to do so. Marquez landed a crushing right hand that knocked “Pacman” out cold as he fell face first on the mat at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Nothing else was close.
MISTAKE OF THE YEAR/CENTURY/MILLENNIUM – Congratulations to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao for locking this up for life. They not only blew the biggest payday in sports history, they blew a chance to define their legacies. They may yet fight, though I doubt it. Still,  it will never, ever be the same. When this fight was first contemplated in 2009, it was between the two guys who were not only the two best welterweights in the world, but the two best fighters in the world. I always favored Mayweather and thought he would win, but there was an argument to be made before. Not anymore. No matter who you blame, they’re both fools for not having insisted the match be made.
From ESPN
KO of the year: Marquez-Pacquiao
Pacquiao and Marquez lived up to their promise and put on the best fight of their epic series, which delivered as definitive an outcome as possible: Marquez landing a picture-perfect right hand that knocked Pacquiao out cold with one second left in the sixth round. The knockout was as aesthetically pleasing as it was shocking and historically significant. Obviously, it’s the 2012 ESPN.com knockout of the year.

2012 Robbery of the Year: Manny Pacquiao Loses to Timothy Bradley

Boxing fans across the globe were both shocked and outraged when Timothy Bradley managed to win a Split Decision against Manny Pacquiao on June 9th of this year. Scoring the fight live, I thought Pacquiao was a clear winner, to the tune of a dominant 117-111 scorecard.
The outcome never seemed in question, nor did there seem to be any impending drama. That showed us, as two of three judges (apparently the only two people of the millions who watched the fight) believed that Bradley did enough to win a close fight.

From BoxingNews24
Upset of the year has to be Timothy Bradley vs Manny Pacquiao. It led to more talk than any other fight of the year. It left the boxing world furious after they witnessed Pacquiao easily dominate his much younger opponent, only for the judges to award the fight to Bradley.
Knockout of the year I have given to Jaun Manuel Marquez after he ferociously stopped the iron chinned fighter of the decade, Manny Pacquiao. In their three previous fights Marquez had failed to even knock down his much feared rival. Both wanted a knock out in their 4th fight and Marquez was the one who achieved that. Not a average knockout, Pacquiao was on the floor for well over a minute.
 From Ring Magazine

Pacquiao-Marquez IV is voted Event of the Year for 2012
The fourth bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez was met with mixed reaction when it was announced.
The future hall of famers’ three previous fights were all hotly contested, but each 12-round bout also resulted in a hotly disputed decision that did not favor Marquez, who was 0-2-1 against his arch rival despite winning at least two of the three on the un-official scorecards of the fans and many members of the boxing media.
Those same fans voted Pacquiao-Marquez IV to be the Event of the Year for 2012 on RingTV.com’s “Readers’ Choice” poll. The fourth fight garnered 74 percent of 1,000 votes, beating out the dueling Las Vegas shows on Sept. 15 (12.4), Floyd Mayweather-Miguel Cotto (11) and Ricky Hatton’s return to the ring (2.6).
Although the numbers (live gate revenues and TV ratings) connected the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Sergio Martinez HBO Pay Per View show, Showtime’s “Knockout Kings” quadrupleheader topped by Saul Alvarez, Mayweather-Cotto and Hatton vs. Vyacheslav Senchenko were impressive, there was no doubt as to which major fight would produce the Event of the Year.
The post-fight buzz from Pacquiao-Marquez IV overshadowed every sporting/entertainment event on Dec. 8, including the UFC on FOX 5: Henderson vs. Diaz broadcast. The dialogue and discourse continued, not only among fight fans through the internet and social media but within the mainstream media, for two weeks following the fight.
Pacquiao-Marquez III was RingTV.com’s Event of the Year for 2011 and if a fifth fight between the two legends happens next year it will likely produce a strong candidate for Event of the Year for 2013.
More awards and recognitions to come…

Reason why Pacquiao is fighting Marquez

 Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 poster

Manny Pacquiao fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for the 3rd time, its confirmed and PACMAN is flying to the US to make sure that all the details are in place including his cash prize!

Pacquiao flies to US to finalize Marquez fight

MANILA, Philippines – Fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao has booked a flight to the US to iron out the final details of his impending fourth face-off against Juan Manuel Marquez.

According to his confidant, local boxing promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, the Filipino boxer is set to fly to the US on Friday to meet Top Rank executive Bob Arum.

“Aalis siya bukas ng gabi,” Salud said in an interview in ANC’s Top Story. “Pagtungo siya doon para pag-usapan yan (Marquez fight).”

Salud said the reason Pacquiao is leaning on another ring tussle with Marquez is the pay-per-view factor, noting that the Filipino’s fight against Timothy Bradley had fewer pay-per-view buys compared to the Marquez bouts.

“Kasi ang laban nila ni Marquez [last November] ang pay-per-view nila ay umabot ng 1.4 [million],” said Salud.

Aside from Bradley’s lack of marketability, Salud said the American boxer is likely to demand a higher purse now that he won the World Boxing Organization welterweight title.

In his split decision victory against Pacquiao last June, Bradley received a guaranteed purse $5 million.
“E nag-champion siya kay Manny, kung hihingi siya, doble na ‘yon,” said Salud.

Fight fans would like to see another Pacquiao-Marquez fight and this could hike the Filipino’s earnings, said Salud.

Salud, however, admitted that there’s a downside in accepting the Marquez bout.

“Kung matalo siya kay Marquez, ‘yung [Floyd] Mayweather fight wala na. ‘Yun ang fight na gusto ng mga tao,” he said.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Judges Scorecard and Compubox

A win is a win and we should be thankful and I think Filipinos are too grateful for the win, I somehow feel that we don’t deserve it. It was an awesome fight and everyone who watched it will surely agree with me. But one thing most people don’t agree about is the result of the fight. Many people believe including Juan Manuel Marquez himself that he won the fight and the fact is that he has a very good reason to do so. I am not an official but I feel it was scored correctly. Check out the Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Judges Scorecard and Compubox.

So enough of the controversy lets just hope they fight again because I think Juan Manuel Marquez deserved another fight. Maybe after Mayweather.
