Ginebra comes back from huge deficit, wins Manila Clasico showdown

It was a sold out sunday blowout for the PBA fans as they witnessed another exciting game  between the two league favorites

The Star Hotshots dominated the first half of the Manila Clasico showdown with a huge lead with as much as 15 points as the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel bounces back from this huge deficit in the second half.

Justin Brownlee of Ginebra who became their anchor who scored multiple three point attempts and jump shots ended the game listing 38 points, while Japeth Aguilar who thrilled the crowd with his jams also contributed 21 points.

Jervy Cruz, Mark Caguioa, Sol Mercado, LA Tenorio and Scottie Thompson also contributed by sinking game changing shots.

The Ginebra squad blasted away during the pay off period as they protect a huge lead. Ginebra wins with 13 points.

Struggling Star Hotshots will go against the so far succesful Ginebra San Miguel.

One of the most anticipated matches in the PBA is the Manila Clasico showdown every conference. Two of the teams with the biggest fan base will go head to head again this Sunday, Aug 28, 2016 at the Araneta Coliseum and will be expected to have an overwhelming crowd once again.

Grand slam team Star Hotshots who has been struggling in this conference who only won 1 game and lost 5 out of 6 outings will try to clinch a win against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel who is currently at the 3rd spot of the PBA Standings winning 5 out of 7 games and one of the top contenders in this season ending conference.

Justin Brownlee and the rest of the Barangay Ginebra will once again make the crowd roar. But, Tim Cone said that they will be facing tough teams and they’re out to take the challenge. Having their players ready to go out there and die for every possession, the team will always try to put their best foot forward and take it one game at a time.

The Ginebra San Miguel has yet to get another championship trophy within almost 8 years now and everyone’s assuming that this will be their time to take the bread home. With their current performance and consistency, it is no doubt that the Ginebra squad have high chances in getting the title that every fans have been waiting for.

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is off to a great campaign as they grab another win against the rain or shine elasto painters last Sunday Aug 21, 2016 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Ginebra squad lost only two games tied with Mahindra Enforcers on the 2nd spot in the standings.

The Ginebra fans are slowly getting their hopes high, as the team continues to show their strength and unity to make it to the finals. Its been a while since the team made it to the Championship Stage, and this conference maybe one of the best they’ve had. They will be facing 4 more teams before the end of the elimination round and one of these teams would be Star Hotshots.

The Manila Clasico will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday Aug 28, 2016 and will be expected as again a jam packed crowd. The former team of the new Ginebra Coach is currently struggling but will again prove that each team is a contender. Ginebra is a must beaten team as they make it hard for their opponents once the crowd gets involved. These two teams with the most biggest fan-base will again entertain the crowd as they fight for another win on their campaign in this conference.

The “Never-Say-Die” team is back!

   
The game between Ginebra Gin Kings and Purefoods Star Hotshots was definitely an amazing gift to the fans.
It was tight ball game until the 4th period when the Star Hotshots took the lead by as many as 18 points.
The Gin kings slowly cut the lead and made an 8-0 run in the last two minutes of the ball game.
With a minute left, the Gin Kings drained 3-point baskets courtesy of Aguilar and Mercado to outscore the split free throws by Yap and Melton.
Down to the last 14 seconds of regulation, the hotshots were still in a good position to win the game however at this point of the ball game the Ginbra Never-Say-Die spirit came alive!
Sol Mercado hit another huge 3-point basket to cut down the lead to 2 points 80-78.
Coming off a time out the hotshots committed a crucial turn over. The Gin Kings intensified the pressure defense and forced Mark Baroca to lose the ball which lead to an easy lay-up by the rookie Scottie Thompson.
The MOA Arena erupted! As the game is tied. With 3.4 seconds remaining in the ball game, coming out of a time out, Raffie Reavis once again was assigned to inbound the ball.
The intensified pressure defense by the Gin Kings made the Hotshots to commit the same crucial turnover as James Yap failed to secure the ball off the in-bound pass. Sol Mercado stolen the ball but unfortunately did not make the lay-up.
During the overtime period, both teams traded 3-point baskets. While it is the season for exchanging gifts, Baroca and Tenorior exchanged 3-point baskets.
The star point guard even gave out two 3 treys. During the 2:13 in the OT period, Sol Mercado hit a huge 3-point to tie the game at 86 apiece.
Alex Mallari joined the 3-point exchange by connecting from beyond the arc. 89-89, 1:36 left.
Gin Kings played the next possession patiently, they shared the ball 7 times before Sol Mercado found himself open beyond the arc then hit another cold blooded trey!!
The game is tied at 89 apiece and the Hotshots failed to make a basket with 30 seconds left in OT.
The Gin kings got the last possession with 16 seconds left.  Marc Baroca fouled L.A. Tenorio, the initial unsportsman foul was quickly changed to a regular foul.
The Gin Kings called a time out to orchestrate the clutch play with 4.1 seconds left in the game.
Sol Mercardo secured the leather off the in-bound pass from L.A.Ternorio then he quickly dribbled closer to the basket.  Mark Baroca had to provide help defense and Tenrio was left open.
The man of the hour Sol Mercado made a quick bounce pass to his open teammate, and there’s  the dagger! L.A Tenorio who was momentarily open made a buzzer beater!
The Gin kings are moving on to the knock out round against Global Port Batang pier while the Purefood Star Hotshots ended their campaign.
