Bellator 160 results: Henderson vs Pitbull

Bellator 160: Henderson vs. Pitbull took place August 26 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. LIVE and FREE on SPIKE.

This was the second fight of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson booked at Bellator. He returned to his lightweight class and compete with former featherweight champion who’s on the other hand went up a weight class Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire in hope to get a title shot at lightweight. Bendo was defeated by Andrey Koreshkov on his debut at Bellator 153 Welterweight Championship bout on April 2015. In the same event Pitbull fought Henry Corrales as the co main and won by submission.

Freire was giving kicks to the legs and body until he took Hendersdon’s back trying to get a takedown in the second round.  Henderson responds by going for a kimura but Freire was able to get out of it. The fight’s over when referee McCarthy stopped it as Pitbull can not stand any more due to an injury.

Benson Henderson will contend for the Bellator Lightweight Championship against Michael Chandler Jr.- the current title holder at Bellator 163 on November 19. The one who brutally finished the elder Freire during the co-main at Bellator: Dynamite 2 event. Pitbull was unsuccessful in seeking revenge for his brother due to unfortunate circumstances.
