By the Numbers: Big 3 Talks, Why the Timberwolves is a Worthy Adversary

The Wolves are Biting: In case you missed, they are on a 4-game winning streak

Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins, Karl Anthony-Towns
The Wolves are enjoying an early success thanks to the Big 3 of their own.
Jimmy Butler.
Andrew Wiggins.
Karl Anthony-Towns.
Who would have thought that these three players would end up playing together in one team outside of Team USA? While the rest of the league were excited when the Oklahoma City Thunder landed Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to play alongside reigning MVP, Russell Westbrook, when the Cleveland Cavaliers have reunited Dwayne Wade and LeBron James, not everyone is talking about the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Why should the Timberwolves be included in the talks?

Reason #1: They are on a 4 game winning streak.

Reason #2: They are currently the 3rd best team in the West.

Yes, folks. The Timberwolves, a team who used to spend a big chunk of time being at the bottom of the standings in the Western Conference, is now among the best teams in the West as far as their record is concerned. And yes, their numbers don’t lie either:

109 Points per Game

With a starting unit that includes Karl Anthony-Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jimmy Butler who was traded from the Chicago Bulls during the offseason, we can expect the Wolves to score more. And they didn’t disappoint either. Through 9 games into the season, the wards of Coach Tom Thibodeau have been averaging 109 points per game and they have been able to reach the century mark in all of those 9 games. Impressive, isn’t? What’s more impressive is that they scored 119 and 115 against the Thunder- both were close wins. The Wolves’ 109 points average land them in 7th among all teams, 2nd in the West alone.

5 Wolves Scoring in Double Figures

  • Karl Anthony-Towns: 22 points per game
  • Andrew Wiggins: 19 points per game
  • Jimmy Butler: 15 points per game
  • Jeff Teague: 12 points per game
  • Jamal Crawford: 10 points per game
One of the main reasons why the Wolves are so successful nowadays especially when it comes to scoring points is that they have multiple guys on their team who are capable of scoring on a consistent basis. And the guys above are not just about scoring.
Anthony-Towns is also leading his team with  11 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.
Jeff Teague, another newcomer to the Wolves this season, has been contributing as one of the new point guards of Tom Thibodeau as he is averaging 8 assists (6th in the league) and close to 2 steals per game (10th in the league)- both are leading the team, to go along with his 12 points per game average.

Conclusion

If the Minnesota Timberwolves can keep up this level of consistency, they will keep on winning especially in the long haul. They will keep on biting and surprising teams. Who knows? They might be able to make a long-awaited return to the postseason should they keep on winning especially against the powerhouse teams in the league. But judging by their ongoing winning streak, KAT and company will be hard to limit and will be harder to defeat.

Efforts in Vain: OKC Fell One Step Short to Victory Against Wolves

Big shot after big shot!

Andrew Wiggins’ winning three-point shot against OKC

The Oklahoma City Thunder went through another unfortunate lost with their foe Minnesota Timberwolves winning with a 2 point lead via Andrew Wiggins breath-taking 3-pointer that beat the clock winding down.
The final 8 seconds of the game was a long thrilling 8 seconds, before Wiggins hit the winning shot, it seemed that Carmelo Anthony’s three-pointer was the supposed to be winning shot bringing the OKC up by 1 point but two big shots in a relatively short period of time is a phenomenon we do not see every day.
After OKC’s lost against Utah Jazz – Westbrook’s dormancy, the triple threat’s missing link Russell Westbrook redeemed himself with an ultimate explosion in their game against the Wolves, Russell finished with 31 points plus 10 assists.
Despite the ultimate performance of the triple threat and Steven Adams, still Thunder’s starter production had a missing link, Andre Roberson started the game and finished scoreless after 22 minutes of play whilst all of the Wolves’ starters were in double digits. Roberson was the missing link that made OKC fell one step short.
All in all, it was obviously a very close game, no significant difference in the team stats. It just happened that the Timberwolves were the last to hit the winning shot before the final buzzer buzzed and ceased the whole arena, leaving a throng of crowd stunned of what they have witnessed right before their eyes. The victory was in Thunder’s palm but then it slipped away in a blink of an eye.
Scores:
Wolves 115 – Wiggins 27, Towns 27, Teague 19, Butler 15, Gibson 11, bench – 16
Thunder 113 – Westbrook 31, Anthony 23, Adams 17, George 14, Roberson 0, bench – 28

Ball Scrutiny: 5 Reasons Why Golden State Warriors Dominated Their 2nd Preseason Match Against Timberwolves

Pachulia Blocking Towns

After a shameful loss in their first game against Minnesota, the Golden State Warriors awakened their true spirit, thrashed the wolves in their second preseason match up 142-110.

Splash Brothers with a Tsunami

Klay Thompson and Steph with a huge domination from beyond the arc – Warriors’ main weapon. Klay Thompson shot 80% from the rainbow country with 28 points, Steph Curry with a monstrous 40- point explosion, shooting 66 % from the 3 point area. Thompson and Curry shot 14 three-pointers combined, which doubled up the whole Timberwolves 3 point shooting.

High Scoring Ball Game

The first quarter ended, 41-36. A high scoring ball game equals a high-paced ball game which is very evident that the game is going on the Warrior’s run and gun style of play.

Impeccable Play Execution

No matter how they throw in the ball, the hoop just seems to suck it down.  It’s just because of the incredible Warrior’s passing style plus the every player really connects with the hoop everytime they take a shot.

Inside Control

Warriors limited the Minnesota in Offensive Rebounding to just 6, thus limiting their extra possession and 2nd chance points.

The warriors, known as outside gunners yet managed to neutralize the inside,  they even had a 2 point advantage in terms of points in the shaded area. It leaves no room for Minnesota to start a sizzle as the Warriors are ferocious inside and outside.

Every Drop Counts

The Golden State Warriors shot 80% of their free throws (20-25) which is far well than the first game when they missed 12.

Ball Scrutiny: 5 Ways for Warriors to Tame the Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors Flag

What shall it take for the Dubs to shut down the team that’s said to be their greatest matchup this season?

With a surprising 2 consecutive loss. What shall the Dubs do to overcome a nightmare?

Dominate the Boards

In their last match, The big men of the Dubs faced a massive malfunction to give the team extra possessions, Pachulia and Green only with 6 rebounds apiece. It is not bad except that their point guard Steph Curry has the same number of rebounds. Timberwolves overthrew them with the offensive boards 15-8, as a result of their poor long-distance shooting and weak inside for rebounding.

Know Main Role

With Steph Curry tying up with his big men’s boards, Curry was not much of a playmaker, having only 4 assists which are puny as compared to Green with 8. Draymond tends to pass more but is unproductive with 24 minutes of play scoring only 5 points.

Every Drop Counts

Warriors only shot poorly from the free-throw line (52%) which is very unlikely for them, they are known for their terrifying shooting capacity yet they are missing a lot on free throws, making the 12 missed free throws could’ve put the game closer as much as 109-111. Freethrow shooting, especially at close games, are vital and missed shots are really fatal.

No Splash for the Brothers

Thompson and Curry shot 50% from beyond the arc, which is their main producing power source. They evidently made few attempts (12 combined) and delivering only 6, which is not as explosive as compared to the Warriors real form. Durant couldn’t carry the game all throughout.

Full Throttle Defense

Warriors poorly defended the Wolves in their last match and as a result, 7 wolves finished the game in double figures. Gibson 12, Butler and Towns 16, Wiggins 14, Bjelica 11, Jones 10, Muhammad 10.

No time to Slack-off

They are the defending Champs for this season, they must equal their rival’s eagerness to thrash them down or else they’ll fall off and before they even know it, the title was long gone and they are out of the chasing game.

Timberwolves Will not be Shooting a lot of Threes but in Case They Do?

The Wolves’ outside shooting could pack a punch?

With Jeff Teague, Jimmy Butler, Andrew Wiggins, and Karl Anthony Towns leading the pack, the new look wolves may just be one of the top teams to beat this upcoming season.
If you ask me, the starting line up of the Minnesota has never been as good until now. The combination of young and veteran superstars makes them really a dangerous team. Jimmy Butler automatically makes them a super team.
The move of the Chicago Bulls to let go of their main man still puzzles me up to now. Jimmy Butler would easily inherit the franchise player role especially as he is back under the coach of his former coach in Chicago, Coach Tom Thibodeau.
Jimmy was averaging 23 points last season and he attempted an average of only 3 three-pointers and making one of them.  You can say the same for the other players in the starting line up. With teams like the Golden State Warriors making a living outside the three-point area, should it be a concern to Wolves fans that their players may not be attempting enough threes?

Last season percentages:
Jeff Teague – 35.7%.
Jimmy Butler – 36.7%.
Andrew Wiggins – 35.6%.
Gorgui Dieng – 37.2%.
Karl-Anthony Towns – 36.7%.
Average: 36.2%.

Should the Wolves shoot more threes?

The Minnesota Timberwolves is targeting Kyle Lowry, Jrue Holiday, George Hill, and Jeff Teague in free agency, according to Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News.

Getting Wiggy with it . Wiggins 47 career high against LA Lakers! 125-99.

Just after a beat down from the other Los Angeles team, The Wolves headed by Andrew Wiggins were on a mission to win and get closer to the .500 record. They improved to 3-6 and the Lakers fall to 6-5.

Wiggins is proving to be an all star type of player who shot 14-21 .667% with 4 rebs, 3 assists and a block. Bjelica also had a career high scoring 24 points and 8 rebs, Karl Towns had a decent game as well 22 points, 12 rebounds and 1 block. LA was headed by Lou Williams with 17, Clarkson and Randle added 14 however DLo struggled and only had 7 pts who shot 3-10 from the field.

Will Andrew Wiggins be an All star this year?

He would have done it last year but i guess it was a bit premature because they were lottery bound but this year people think that the Wolves can comeback to the playoffs.

I know a lot may not agree but I still see Wiggins on par with Towns when it comes to potential. The guy is simply talented and is called Air Canada for no reason, I am not saying he is the next MJ but the first Andrew Wiggins.

I say that this is the year that he starts counting those all star trips and eventually being an nba champ!

Here is the unseen hours as posted on what he is working on this off season.

Timberwolves Willing to Trade 5th Pick for Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler tries to score against Andrew Wiggins

The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly interested in trading for Bull’s guard Jimmy Butler. Butler is a former player of now head coach and president of basketball operations of the Timberwolves, Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau made it clear to the Chicago Bulls front office that the he and the Timberwolves are interested on trading for Butler and is willing to part with their prized 5th overall pick in this year’s NBA draft.

Butler is considered one of the best two way player in the league today along with Lebron James, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson and Paul George, He led the Bulls this season averaging 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 36.9 minutes per game.

Thibodeau are looking to add some veteran experience and a player with an immediate impact for the Timberwolves young team and Butler fits the bill. Butler could led this team to a playoff birth in the very deep western conference. Chances are very high that the Timberwolves will dominate the west in the coming years with core of  Andrew Wiggins, Karl Anthony-Towns, Ricky Rubio and Jimmy Butler.

But in order for the Timberwolves to get Butler, they need to give up more than their 5th overall pick. They should package one of their young guns, either Andrew Wiggins or Zach Lavine and Shabazz Muhammad along with the 5th pick. The Timberwolves will be dumb if they trade their future star Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins is much younger and has a higher ceiling than Butler. There is a big chance that Wiggins will be a better player than Butler.

The Bulls are considering a reconstruction to the team as they failed to enter the playoffs this season. A couple of weeks ago, reports said that they were shopping Derrick Rose to the Sixers for Nerlens Noel and will not going to resign Joakim Noah.

Timberwolves to Pursue Noah in Free Agency

Image via VN Design

The Minnesota Timberwolves had made their biggest move this season by hiring Tom Thibodeau as their head coach and president of basketball. Thibodeau and the team is now looking to sign Joakim Noah in free agency.

According to reports, the 2014 defensive player of the year told his teammates in Chicago that he isn’t going to resign with the team. Noah was fallen out of coach Fred Hoiberg’s front court rotation for the Bulls due to injury and with the resurgence of rookie Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic.

After averaging 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5,4 assists, 1,2 steals and 1.5 blocks in the 2013-2014 season, his best season in the NBA, Noah just averaged 4.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, .6 steals and a block in just 21.9 minutes per game this season with Hoiberg as their coach. This season marks his lowest minutes logged in per game since his rookie season.

The two -time NBA all star and two-time NBA all defensive first team is expected to provide the leadership for the young team of Minnesota. With the front court of  Nemanja Bejelica, Gorgui Dieng, Karl Anthony Towns and Joakim Noah, the Timberwolves will be having a towering presence in the coming years. Noah hopes to be back in his all star form with new team this coming season.

Tom Thibodeau is the New Head coach of my WOLVES!

Playoffs! Guaranteed I dont care if Tom Thibodeau had negatives after leaving the Bulls but this young core will learn a lot from this guy and they also added Scott Layden as the general manager in place of Milton.

The Wolves definitely stepping up to the right direction

OUR 2016 NBA Rookie of the YEAR! Karl Anthony Towns against the Raptors! A Monster INDEED!

I don’t think anyone would disagree with me on this one. KAT has been phenomenal from the get go. Towns has been awarded as the Rookie of the month for 4 months straight now and he has even upped his performance from 19.7 points with 9 rebs last January to an even better 20+ ppg and 12 rebs per game.

Join me as we review this monstrous performance that led Towns to win the Skill Challenge right before the break for NBA All Stars.

Karl Anthony Towns in this game scored 35 points grabbed 11 rebounds and 3 blocks! This guy is simply insane. I wonder what impact KG had on him if any. I wish we could get that interview 🙂

Oh Do i need to remind you who Jaylen Brown is? 23 Pts against Washington!

This dunk may look easy based on the picture but watch the replay here. He was like a bigger version of Jimmy Butler.

The Cal Bears are clicking just in the nick of time before March Madness start Jaylen Brown is starting to grow in our eyes, he is becoming the leader that they want him to be. The fact that Brown has his fellow freshman phenom in Ivan Rabb, he doesn’t take a step behind him and often times he would lead them to win. Jaylen Brown Scored 23 points to steal a win on the road and keep their March Madness hopes alive.

Cal bears is undefeated at home with a win over #12 seed Arizona and an absolute dominance over USC, its all thanks to Brown who has average 15 ppg and has scored 20 or more on crucial games that gave them a chance to finish as the #4 seed come championship week.

Karl Anthony Towns 28 pts 13 rebs 4 assists 2 Blocks! ROOKIE OF THE YEAR?

KAT – Karl Anthony Towns

Karl Anthony Towns PLAYED BIG and its nice to see him play like this, I have a feeling that this Kid would be stronger after the all star break. We all know that Towns beat Isiah Thomas in the skills challenge and this victory solidifies the bright future for this Kid.

Towns led his team to win against the Celtics today with a score of 124-122. This is the 18th win this season for the Wolves and as soon as they get rid of Sam Mitchell next year would be better for this Franchise.

The Wolves will have a chance to get better next season with another lottery pick and I certainly hope that this would be the last one. I would post an analysis on how to improve the wolves next season .

For now let us all watch KAT on his road to ROY:

The Future is bright indeed this is probably the best weekend for the Minnesota Timberwolves after KG’s reign. Zach Lavine’s stock value also catapulted to its peak, The reigning Slam Dunk Champ defended his title and even won the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge MVP

Here is the highlight of the game:

AMAZING! NBA dunk contest 2016 highlights and some ideas.

The Dunk contest these year was too good these two guys had to do 5 completed dunks to win the competition. Will Barton from Denver Nuggets got a great entrance but the nerves got into him and never really got his groove. Andre Drummond made both of his dunks but that wasn’t impressive enough. So it was between Gordon and Lavine, Honestly both are great dunkers and all but I would have given it to Gordon. I know that any given day Lavine can pull off a dunk from the free throw and just add something to the mix. Gordon’s dunk on the other hand was just on another level.

Just check out the highlight of this dunk ITS FREAKING SICK!!!!!!

This is what Lavine Did

Last Dunk for both I gotta give it to Lavine but should have been something more, I know most of Gordon’s dunk was with the Mascot, While Lavine was from the Free Throw Line . I just think that there’s a lot of dunkers who could do what Zach Lavine did. I don’t know if there would be the same for Gordon’s Dunk. But this has been the most entertaining dunk contest since Vince Carter and Jason Richardson.

I hope to see Lavine’s Team mate next year my boy Andrew Wiggins.

Here is the highlight of the entire dunk contest:

Introducing: Kris Dunn Lottery pick for 2016 NBA DRAFT!

Kris Dunn

Dunn tore his labrum in June 2012 and underwent shoulder surgery immediately after. He made his freshman debut in late December.[3]On December 11, 2013, it was announced Dunn would undergo shoulder surgery and miss the rest of his sophomore season.[4]In the following 2014-2015 season, Dunn returned from injury to earn the Big East Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year awards. Choosing to return for the 2015-2016 season with the intention of graduating, Dunn garnered many preseason accolades, including preseason POY.
Dunn was named Big East Player of the Week on January 4, 2016 after scoring 26 points in a win against St. John’s and a 20 point outing in a victory over ninth-ranked Butler.[5]On February 1, 2016, he was named one of 10 finalists for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.[6]

He has gotten better and proved to be a better player after the surgery. Here are the stats for Dunn this senior year from Providence Friars.

Measurements:
Height: 6’4
Wingspan: 6’9
Standing Reach 8’6

Stats:

17 PPG
5.9 RBG for a point guard
6.7 APG
3.2 SPG – 2nd in the nation in steals

To me he is a smaller version of Dwade, his tenacity of defense and the ability to absorb contact and make the shot reminds me of Dwade. Which is not bad there are rumors that my wolves assuming the wolves keep the 5th pick would take Dunn, I don’t have a problem with that if they would trade rubio or lavine. I don’t want the wolves to have 3 PG’s again like what they did with rubio, flynn and some mash potatoes.

Dunn will be a great fit for Milwaukee because MCW looks a bit lost out there. Dunn would thrive playing under Jason Kidd.

Here is a good highlight of Kris Dunn’s style of play:
