This Plaridelian Cartoonist is also a chess wizard

Wearing two hats at the same time is something that Mark Angelo Fugen is in familiar territory. He is the current cartoonist of The Plaridelians, the official school organ of Plaridel National High School, Nagcarlan, Laguna.
Aside from that, he is also a chess player. Mark Angelo Parena Fugen was born on August 3, 1999 to Mr. Bernaldo C. Fugen and Ms. Corazon P. Fugen. He is the youngest in a brood of five. Currently, he is studying at Plaridel National High School  grade 10- Matulungin under his Adviser Ms. Teresa Suazo.
He started playing chess tournaments in school when he was in grade 8. For Mark, the hardest part of playing chess is when he knows he is going to be mated by his opponent or when he loses his Queen. Aside from playing chess, he also likes to play basketball games. His idols in the NBA are Lebron James and Kyrie Irving of Cleveland Cavaliers. His inspiration in playing the game is his family.

Manny Pacquiao will face Juan Manuel Marquez a fourth time

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are great fighters, they have given us 3 classic and highly controversial fights. And now here we are again with another one, what was reportedly just an optional fight for Pacquiao is now looming to be the primary opponent on his next fight. With Mayweather jr gone in the picture the options are Marquez, Bradley, Peterson and Cotto.
Manny Pacquiao was recently quoted from local news that he is willing to fight Marquez again for the fourth time because people are not satisfied with the win but not only that he wants to get 28 million dollar guarantee for the fight. Marquez on the other hand should at least get 10 million.

Gilas wants Douthit, McGee for national five

Smart Gilas Pilipinas is now preparing to negotiate with Marcus Douthit for a new contract while keeping its line open for NBA player Javale McGee as another option for naturalization. “We’re now getting him back as we’re now forming the national pool,” said Antonio. At the same time, Antonio said McGee is still an option even as the NBA has resumed. (source)
Javale McGee into the Philippine National Basketball National team?! , I say its nice but the management must be crazy to even hope for Javale to play for the Philippines. NBA is the place to be for basketball players, even Pinoy players would opt out playing for the national squad if they are offered an NBA contract. McGee is young and tall with a lot of potential. Javale McGee is radical and crazy and does a lot of crazy stuff but i don’t believe he is crazy enough to play for the Philippines at this point of his career maybe when he gets older and past his prime he can consider playing. So enough news about hyping up the fans about Javale McGee.

Brandon Vera vs Eliot Marshall Fight Result

Brandon Vera vs Eliot Marshall Fight was the make or break for  Brandon Vera. I am glad that he won this fight. Brandon Vera did very well in the first two rounds controlling the fight with combination of punches and knees that ultimately gave him the edge to win the fight. The third round was a different story as Eliot Marshall rallied and broke Vera’s arm. Vera survive the third round and the fight was declared a unanimous decision win for Brandon Vera. He needed this win badly and this would give Brandon Vera not only a win on his record but the much needed boost confidence. Congratulation Brandon Vera a well deserved win, hopefully you can still get back to the main stream.

Will Brandon Vera be a champion in the UFC?

Winless Alaska in PBA needs help!, Terminate Banal!

Gone are the days of the championships, grand slam and triangle offense. Its all down to the drain as Alaska continue to struggle under their new coach. Being one of the worst team from being one of the top  team is heartbreaking for the Management of Alaska especially if their former head coach left to transfer to a different team.  I think Alaska should terminate Joel Banal, he is not fit for the team. Should Alaska terminate Banal?!

Donaire won the fight but fans not satisfied

I guess when fans are use to witnessing Nonito Donaire dominate and KO opponent its not enough that he just win it, he needs to really dominate and drop the opponent. This was the expectation that was placed in his shoulder and as the fight goes on the fans are got more anxious and inpatient for the moment. Unfortunately it did not come as Nonito was unable to penetrate the defense of Omar NarvaezNonito won via Unanimous decision, but fans lost and the reaction are unanimously unsatisfied.  Watch out ill be posting the replay of Donaire vs Narvaez.

Ramon Garcia Hirales Victim of Home cooking!

What else would it be! Ramon Garcia Hirales  vs Donnie Nietes was a close bout and it truly is, unless you failed to watch it and was just reading it from the news then you would think that Donnie really won the fight. Its evident that Ramon Garcia Hirales was the aggressor and was more active compare to Donnie Nietes. the fight was really close. Well at least this is what I think but majority of the judges score it the other way around.
Judges scored the bout 115-113, 118-110 and 117-111 and the winner by unanimous home cooking and the new champ Donnie Nietes. What a shame, unanimous decision? who are you kidding! maybe a split decision for Nietes could have been justified but unfortunately it did not happen! but who am I, I am not an expert so lets just forget about what I think.

Why don’t you tell me what you think?

Lee takes PBA by storm

Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao was perhaps right all along in selecting Paul Lee as their pick in the PBA draft two months ago.

Playing like a veteran, the 22-year old rookie guard delivered clutch baskets to help turn back Barangay Ginebra’s comeback as the Painters held on for a 94-93 victory.
The close contest gave the PBA a thrilling sendoff to its 37th season Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. Paul Lee, the No. 2 overall pick in the PBA Rookie Draft, led Rain or Shine with 21 points.

Smart Gilas Philippines had a bad showing against the Jordanians and none of our players really stood up except for the naturalized player Douthit who is really not Filipino. Its funny right? Anyways Korea is a tougher team than Jordan so do I expect a win here. Nah! Smart Gilas dropped every important games as if they are not mentally ready for it and  why do these things happen? I don’t know! All I know is that many Filipino are still supporting the Smart Gilas club and if they don’t win tonight we shall change the name of our National team to Smart Choker! Go Go Go Smart Gilas choke the Koreans! kidding aside I really hope they win this to still get a chance to qualify for the Olympics.
