Ronda Rousey vs Travis Browne Skipped Mayweather vs McGregor for This

Former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey vs Travis Browne Wed

While most of us are focused on watching the fight last week between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor, two other MMA fighters skipped the epic event and focused on their own momentous event themselves.
Somewhere in Hawaii, the 30-year-old Ronda Rousey finally weds his long time boyfriend and UFC heavyweight contender Travis Browne. This was a long time coming and we are glad that the two have decided to tie the knot and get some victory for themselves.
Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne have both suffered a string of losses in their MMA career and the wedding might just be what they needed to finally get into that winning column, well at least in life.
Rousey last fought December 30, 2016, to Amanda Nunes and to Holly Holmes a year before that and lost to both. On the other hand, his new partner in life has suffered 4 fights in a row and the last one was just about a month ago.

We wish the Browne family well and congratulations on your wedding!

(Statement) Sometimes it doesn’t work how you planned – Ronda Rousey

“I want to say thank you to all of my fans who have been there for me in not only the greatest moments but in the most difficult ones. Words cannot convey how much your love and support means to me,” Rousey said in a statement provided to ESPN.

“Returning to not just fighting, but winning, was my entire focus this past year. However, sometimes — even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly — it doesn’t work how you planned. I take pride in seeing how far the women’s division has come in the UFC and commend all the other women who have been part of making this possible, including Amanda.

“I need to take some time to reflect and think about the future. Thank you for believing in me and understanding.”

Do you think she should retire or comeback?

UFC 207: Nunes vs. Rousey Results, Hightlights and Bonuses

The return of Ronda Rousey only lasted 48 seconds after Amanda Nunes successfully defended her UFC women’s bantamweight crown at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. Nunes was clearly the superior fighter. Rousey threw some punches but got countered everytime until she got pummeled in the face. Ref Herb Dean stopped the fight to save the former champ from more battering. I saw no Ronda Rousey during the whole fight. The utterly dominant Ronda who even claimed she could beat Mayweather. Really I hope she becomes strong both mentally and emotionally and comes back still.

The trading insults at one another between Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt indeed erupted into a five round brawl! Cody’s excellent game plan and dance moves were on display. He was landing big punches and took Dominick down during the first round. The left eye of the former champ was cut from a headbutt causing him to bleed in the third round.  Cruz was outclassed, taunted and danced by “No Love” to deliver an upset win and become the unbeaten, new world bantamweight champion. Both fighters were awarded $50,000 for Fight of the Night bonuses.

TJ Dillashaw’s performace warrants a title shot at 135 lbs. He used his footwork to outclassed John Lineker. “I want my belt. That’s my belt. He’s (Dominick Cruz) running from me. He knows I won it. I want my belt back”, The former bantamweight champion said after his unanimous decision victory.

Luis Smolka took 30% of Ray Borg’s purse as a penalty from not making weight. Borg with some heavy grappling and ground and pound took the win by way of unanimous decision.

The prelim fights were just as good as the main events. Jonny Hendricks dropped Neil Magny in round one but Magny was fighting on the ground with landing more strikes and triangle, stood up in round two. The no. 8-ranked welterweight got the head of former champion caught in a tight triangle again which was a near tap experience with numerous elbows. Close one. Magny edged Hendricks on scores after the three rounds. He also gets 20% of Hendricks purse. Hendricks missed weight for the third time.

Amanda Nunes and Alex Garcia were also awarded $50,000 for Performance of the Night bonuses.

RONDA ROUSEY HEADED BACK TO OCTAGON TO CHALLENGE AMANDA NUNES

After UFC undefeated female champion Rounda Rousey suffered her first loss to Holly Holm. She was only on the sidelines for eleven months.

A new information was reported by Ariel Helwani few days ago that indicates she is coming back to the octagon sooner than expected.

Today, Dana White and the UFC announced that Rousey will challenge Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title at UFC 207 in Las Vegas on December 30, 2016.

It’s going to be crazy!

Ronda Rousey Not Returning at UFC 205 and is Expecting with Travis Browne’s Baby?

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stayed out of the limelight since Holly Holm gave her a 1 into her loss column record at UFC 193. The division have had two champions in Rowdy’s absence already. Holm was choked out by Miesha Tate in March, then Tate failed to her first title defense as Amanda Nunes pummeled and eventually choked her out at UFC 200 earlier this month.

Not only UFC President Dana White but fight fans around the world are hopeful that Rousey would make her comeback at UFC 205 on November 12 when the company heads to The World’s Famous Arena, but has not given any indication as to when she will be back. It was also in November 2015 when she lost to Holm at UFC 193.

She recently guests on Ellen where she confessed that she has been in deep depression that she wanted to have babies with Travis Browne so she had a reason to live. Browne is also a UFC fighter who competes as a heavyweight and ranked no. 7 and was also booked at UFC 200. Former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez knocked him out.

Now, Rousey’s long-time rival Cristiane Cyborg Justino is congratulating her because she is hearing rumors Rousey may actually be pregnant:

The Biggest Upset in UFC History

There was a lot of excitement and questions going into UFC 193.  The promotion had high expectations for their biggest star, Ronda Rousey.   The plan was to make history by:
– Having the first UFC Event headlined by two women’s title fights
– Breaking the attendance record with 70,000 fans
– Breaking the live gate record set in Canada at UFC 129 St. Pierre VS Shield

Media and fans alike were waiting in anticipation to see if the UFC can accomplish these goals. The promotional videos leading up to the event mainly focused on Ronda Rousey. They showcased her cross over appeal by featuring Hollywood celebrities giving their praise to Rousey.
Amidst all of this it seemed like it was a given that Rousey would come out victorious, it was just a matter of how she will finish the fight and how quickly it would happen.

Holly Holm and her team in Albuquerque, New Mexico had other plans.
While the UFC marketing engine and MMA media were building up this event and almost dismissing the possibility of Holly Holm winning, the Jackson Winklejohn team was building another future champion. The result was a sharp, perfectly conditioned confident fighter in Holly Holm.
“The Preachers Daughter” showed poise, foot work, high level striking and wrestling.  She executed the perfect game plan come fight night and dominated the former champ Ronda Rousey.    In the first round of the fight Holly Holm surprised everyone dominating Rousey on their feet, defending her takedowns and even landing her own takedown.

Rousey was clearly hurt at the end of the first round and it was obvious to everyone watching that she had lost the first round.  At this point the first round she had ever lost in her MMA career.
As the second round started Holm continued to show amazing “Octagon Control”, she dictated where the fight will go and when they would engage.  At one point Ronda shot-in for a takedown and Holm smoothly moved out of the way making Rousey look amateur.  This was not the Ronda Rousey everyone was used to seeing, she was being dominated and the fight was not even close!

Everyone was in shock! UFC commentator Joe Rogan was baffled saying “her hands are down and her chin is up.”  A few moments later the kick heard around the world happened! After a scramble, as Rousey was getting up, Holly Holm threw her signature head-kick and it landed perfectly on the neck and chin of her opponent. Rousey dropped to the canvas and Holm followed up with punches until the referee stopped the fight.

We are definitely entering a new era in the UFC. Dominant champions we are familiar with such as Anderson Silva, Cain Velasquez and now Ronda Rousey have fallen.  New champs have emerged like Fabricio Verdum, Rafael Dos Anjos, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and now Holly Holm.

These types of fights are great for the sport. This is what makes Fight Sports exciting!
“Great fighters take risks and take on all challengers in their prime. The losses in their record are evidence of this, and these losses do not take away from their greatness.” – Oscar Dela Hoya (Boxing Hall of Famer)

Answered prayer for " The Preacher’s Daughter"

And the new!! UFC women’s bantamweight champion!

Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm

Holy Holmes just shocked the MMA World by dethroning the heavy favorite and the 6th time champion Ronda Rousey.

The stunning performance happened in front of 56,214   fans Inside the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. As per the record this is thus far the highest gate attendance recorded in the history of UFC.

Just like what I have mentioned in my previous article back in Aug.
“I can’t think of anybody else in the UFC women’s division other than Joanna Jedrzejzyk who can put up a good stand up fight against Holly Holm”

Not to take anything away from Ronda Rousey who had defended the belt 6th time, Holly Holm striking skill set is on a different level.
Ronda approaches the fight with relentless pressure as if she is on a mission trying to prove everybody that she is not a one dimensional fighter.

She kept coming forward and did not prioritize her ultimate game plan of taking her opponent down and finishing by a submission.
On the other hand, Holly Holm is perfectly executing her game plan all throughout the fight; Keeping her distance and being elusive.
At some point in the 1st round Ronda was able to take holm down but failed to finish her.
Holm went back to business the moment they went back standing, landing some kicks and punches
She also took advantage of the rare opportunity to take Ronda Rousey down.
Ronda ended the 1st round with heavy breathing and bloody nose.
The 2nd round; Ronda Rouse still confidently putting pressure on the challenger until Holm landed a clean left straight that put Ronda in unstable position then followed by a high kick that knocked  Ronda Rousey down.
The slowmo replay shows that Rousey looks sort of unconscious for about 2-3 seconds when she hit the floor but Herb Dean didn’t stop it there and Holy Holm quickly made sure that it’s over by landing a strike and a hammer fist.
The side and oblique kicks and the elbow strike remind me of her teammate, the Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
While the footwork and the cardio play a big role in this historical fight; we must give credit to Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA Academy for preparing Holly Holmes for the biggest fight of her MMA career.

Indeed it’s an answered prayer for ” The Preacher’s Daughter”

Holly Holm dominated Rousey! Highlights all over the place

Holly Holm dominated Rousey!

Ronda Rousey had become too confident and in the end she paid for it dearly. Holly Holm a boxer did what she had to do and she executed the plan perfectly boxing and standing up against the obviously too confident Rousey. It was the perfect ending and a start of a new era in women’s MMA.

Check out the number of highlights,

No touching gloves

First MMA fighter on the Ring Magazine, fight in the Octagon

First MMA fighter on the Ring Magazine, is fighting inside the Octagon and is not even a boxer.  We do not know exactly what are the qualifications to be on the cover, but we certainly understand that you should be popular. Ronda Rousey has taken over MMA world and it looks  like she is doing the same thing in the boxing world. The Ring magazine is a boxing-centric magazine and while there are certainly a number of female boxers that could be featured they chose an MMA fighter instead.

Congrats to Ronda Rousey.

Should I tag this under MMA or boxing category?

Ronda Rousey was talking about her fight with Hollly Holm, but we could not concentrate

Ronda Rousey was talking about her fight with Hollly Holm, but we could not concentrate

We know how important the fight with Holly Holm is on November 14 in Melbourne, Australia and she is definitely discussing  it with Jimmy Fallon here. For whatever reasons Jimmy Fallon is still able to concentrate and not look at the glorious neckline of Rousey is beyond us, because we just could not take our eyes of Rousey’s you know what.  We’ll just let you just watch the video yourself.

Ronda Rousey vs Floyd Mayweather Jr – Street Fighter video

Ronda Rousey vs Floyd Mayweather Jr - Street Fighter video

For awhile people have been dreaming of a fight between the retired number one pound for pound boxer and the number female MMA fighter today. We all know that it’s never going to happen, but fans always fancy what would happen if it did.

If it does happen, Ronda Rousey won’t stand a chance against the tactician, even if they will be fighting under the MMA rules. Floyd will simply run circle and tire Rousey, and end up wining the fight by decision, yup I guarantee she can’t knockout Ronda.

Anyway, here is the only way we can see them fight each other. Check out the fan made Floyd vs Ronda street fighter version.

Ultimate “Rowdy” question for the “The Preacher’s daughter”

Check out this video of Holly “the Preacher’s daughter “Holm and Jon Jones doing a light boxing sparring.

MMA fans were surprised when the champion Ronda Rousey herself announced on Aug 21st that she will be fighting Holly Holm instead of Miesha Tate.

Holly Holm got a clean record of 9-0 in MMA and an impressive 33-2-3 in Boxing and 2-1 in Kick Boxing.

I can’t think of anybody else in the UFC women’s division other than Joanna Jedrzejzyk who can put up a good stand up fight against Holly Holm.

Everybody knows what “The Preacher’s daughter” is capable of, and now the “Ultimate question “is, can she survive the elite level ground game of the Champ Ronda Rousey?

Not to jump on Joe Rogan’s bandwagon, but I can agree with him that it might be a little too soon to see the fight between Holm and Rousey.

I believe that Holly Holm has a potential to be a future contender or a champion perhaps. However I thought 2 more fights would have been a great build up for her.

Oh well, it is an MMA fight and it’s always been unpredictable. You can’t really guarantee that because she doesn’t have yet that elite ground game like Rousey has she will never win.

Who knows she might connect those precise and calculated striking and of course let us all not forget that she trains in Jackson-Winkeljohn MM Academy  one of the best if not the best training camp in the world headed by Greg Jackson 2010 “ Coach of the year “ .

It’s a long way to go for both fighters. The Champ sure has enough time to sharpen her improving striking game while the contender is honing her ground game.

On Jan. 2-UFC 195, let us all see “The Preacher’s daughter” will answer theUltimate Rowdy question”

The champ is known for the armbar and judo throw but hey!  Check this out!

Ronday Rousey’s upcoming opponent nearly died during a boxing match, Holly Holm

Meet the upcoming opponent of Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm could be destined to beat Ronda Rousey or probably not.

Holm was a former professional boxer and kickboxer and  during her boxing career, she became an 18-time world champion in three weight classes. This already says a lot of things about this fighter and the potential fight against Rousey.

Now that she is an MMA fighter she continues to dominate by racking up 9 wins with 6 knockouts with no defeats, she is certainly ready for the big fights in MMA.

Holly Holm pretty girl
Like Rousey, Holly Holm is also a pretty face who can easily be marketed.
Check out one of the toughest fights of Holly Holm.

If  there is one thing we learned about this fight and Holly Holm. This girl is not a quitter, he will fight till the end.  Although the stupid referee should have stopped the fight.

Ronda Rousey and Holly holm is set to fight on November 26, 2015 in Australia.

UFC joins the fun and responded to Floyd Jr comment on Ronda Rousey.

“I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter, or other boxer, make over $300 million in 36 minutes,” Mayweather said on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “When she can do that, then call me.”

These two  will definitely not fight inside the ring or cage, but since fans could not  find any man that can beat Floyd, maybe a woman will.
