Results of UFC Fight Night 96: John Lineker vs. John Dodson

UFC came back to Portland, Oregon on October 1, 2016 at Moda Center for 96th Fighy Night.

People react to social media about the decision that judges made for the main event. John Lineker who missed weight defeated the former two-time UFC flyweight championship challenger and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs. Team Miller winner John Dodson by split decision in a bantamweight bout. The fight was interesting as the two exchanging. There were so much speed, chin and power seen inside the octagon.

The second fight of former Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks in the octagon was opposite of his debut. Alex Oliveira who was also over weight won by TKO at 3:30 of the third round. Will Brooks was reportedly popped a rib in that first round. He was getting the back and neck multiple times and a body slam.

Newcomer Zak Ottow and Brandon Moreno made their debut a huge one. The product of The Ultimate Fighter 24 Brandon Moreno pulled off an upset against the no. 9 flyweight Luis Smolka. He submitted Louis Smolka at 2:23 of the first round. While Zak Ottow won over Josh Burkman by split decision.

Nate Marquardt, Brandon Moreno, Henrique da Silva and Curtis Blaydes all earned the POTN.

No one earned the FOTN though, but yours truly thinks the bonus should be awarded to the two Johns. Great close fight!

UFC Fight Night 96: John Lineker vs. John Dodson

UFC returns to Portland, Oregon on October 1, 2016 at Moda Center.

In the main event, John Lineker and former two-time UFC Flyweight Championship challenger and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs. Team Miller winner John Dodson will go against each other for the bantamweight bout.

This is going to be the second fight of former Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks in the octagon after his successful debut over Ross Pearson. He will face Alex Oliveira next.

On September 9, Brian Ortega and Bobby Green were expected to face Hacran Dias and Joshua Burkman respectively, but pulled out from their bouts. Ortega was replaced by Andre Fili, while Green was replaced by promotional newcomer Zak Ottow.

On September 22, Sergio Pettis was scheduled to face Louis Smolka, but pulled out also of the fight due to a minor injury. Smolka is now expected to face Brandon Moreno.

At the weigh-ins, all 24 fighters stepped on the scale Friday. Lineker was .5 lbs. over the bantamweight limit, Oliveira was 5.5 lbs. over the lightweight limit and Dias was 2.5 pounds over the featherweight limit. The three will forfeit 20% of purse which will go to their opponents.
