Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, stated: “It is always great to be back in Manila because the Philippines is one of the countries that truly and deeply appreciates martial arts. This is the reason why ONE Championship continually upkeeps holding blockbuster shows for our passionate Filipino fans. ONE Championship is set to hold four events in the country for 2018, and our first Manila card for this year will put fans on the edge of their seats, making them crave for more authentic martial arts action.”
Headquartered in New York with offices in Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, Global Citizen was founded in 2012 with the goal of building the largest platform where people can learn about issues, take action on what matters most, and join a global movement working to end extreme poverty by 2030. Since then, millions of Global Citizens around the world have taken over ten million actions, which includes millions of emails, tweets, petition signatures, and phone calls targeting world leaders to end extreme poverty by 2030. To date, the actions by Global Citizen’s global community, along with its high-level advocacy efforts and various partners, have resulted in 130 commitments and policy announcements from leaders, including financial aid valued at over US $35-billion, that is set to affect the lives of over 1.3 billion people.
Wei Soo, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Global Citizen, stated: “We are thrilled to be joining forces with ONE Championship to bring Global Citizen to Asia. ONE Championship reaches millions of young people around the region and together we will engage them on issues that impact the entire world. Since we launched Global Citizen in 2012, over 13 million actions have been taken, and we are excited to drive more actions and increase our impact for the world’s most marginalized people through this partnership.”
Geje Eustaquio, ONE World Title Challenger, stated: “I am expecting another difficult bout. Kairat Akhmetov is tough and has a huge heart inside the cage. That is why I am preparing very well for this rematch. A victory over Kairat would land me a rematch against Adriano Moraes. I believe I have what it takes to become the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion in the future.”
Kairat Akhmetov, ONE World Title Challenger, stated: “I am coming into this interim title match-up with the mentality that it will be me versus the world, and I am ready for it. In 2017, I had ups and downs. I do not want to look back. In 2018, I am looking forward to reaching my dream to battle Adriano Moraes for the third time. But of course, I have to beat Geje Eustaquio first to fulfill my dream.”
Joshua Pacio, ONE Athlete, stated: “I have more experience, and I believe the two losses that I have suffered in my career have taught me a lot. I see those setbacks as an advantage, rather than just a blemish on my record. This match means a lot to me. I want to prove that I deserve to be competing on this international stage. I want to show to my countrymen that we also excel in martial arts, and to inspire more youths to pursue their respective dreams.”
Lan Ming Qiang, ONE Athlete, stated: “I am proud to be part of a great martial arts organization like ONE Championship, but my pride is without exaggeration. My pride cannot be moved. It only grows. I want more people to see Chinese athletes at the highest stage. I am looking forward to the match. I do not know what is going to happen, or how the match is going to end, but it is surely going to be exciting.”
Eric Kelly, ONE Athlete, stated: “Rafael Nunes has been away for a while, so I am not sure if he got stronger or improved. All I know is that I am training to achieve a win. My opponent is a human like me, and everyone is beatable. I always put that in my mind. Right now, I have to redeem myself in front of my countrymen. I might be 35 years old, but I am not giving up. I am here to stay.”
Rafael Nunes, ONE Athlete, stated: “I feel so honored to face a Filipino martial arts veteran like Eric Kelly in my return to ONE Championship. I see me keeping the match standing, and I will be using my distance to box with him and use some kicks. If he wants to go to the ground, I will be trying to finish him.”
Top flyweight contender and former world title challenger Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio of  Baguio City, Philippines, is one of the most skilled martial artists in Asia, and a highly-decorated wushu practitioner. His solid striking and grappling skill set has led to huge victories over the course of a seven-year professional career. Training in the high altitudes of the Philippines’ Summer capital, Eustaquio hones his craft alongside world-class teammates at the fabled Team Lakay. Known for his incredible ability to keep calm in the face of adversity, Eustaquio is set to headline ONE: GLOBAL SUPERHEROES opposite Kairat Akhmetov for the ONE Interim Flyweight World Championship.
Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat Akhmetov is a veteran martial artist from Almaty, Kazakhstan. The 30-year-old boasts a solid 24-1 professional record amassed during a stellar martial arts career which has seen him dominate his opponents with tenacious wrestling and powerful striking. In his most recent appearance inside the ONE Championship cage, Akhmetov defeated Geje Eustaquio via closely-contested three-round split decision. Now he faces Eustaquio in a rematch, this time for the ONE Interim Flyweight World Championship.
22-year-old Joshua Pacio of Baguio City is one of the fastest rising martial arts stars from the Philippines. He is one of the promotion’s most talented strawweights and a proud member of the famed Team Lakay. Pacio is a wushu practitioner with a solid grappling repertoire. All but one of his 10 career victories have come by spectacular finish, which includes five wins by submission and four by devastating knockout. In his most recent bout, Pacio knocked out veteran Roy Doliguez with a second-round spinning back fist. A former ONE Strawweight World Championship Title Challenger, Pacio is looking to bring himself back to title contention with another victory. A tough task is ahead of Pacio, however, as he is slated to lock horns with China’s Lan Ming Qiang.
Lan Ming Qiang is a national sanda champion, who trains alongside ONE Championship flyweight standout “The Southern Eagle” Ma Hao Bin at the Jincan Defense Club. After a 16-2 sanda record and several championship titles, the 24-year-old native of Guangxi, China recently made his transition to the cage and already has a pair of stunning victories to his credit. Lan is set to make his promotional debut under the ONE Championship banner against former world title contender Joshua Pacio.
Featherweight standout Eric “The Natural” Kelly of Baguio City is widely considered one of the best homegrown martial arts athletes to come out of the Philippines. The wushu practitioner combines solid striking techniques with high-level grappling skills, which has resulted in nine impressive submissions and one knockout out of 12 total victories. Kelly’s most impressive showing to date came in a submission win over Rob Lisita in 2014. In his next bout, Kelly will face Rafael Nunes.
20-year-old Rafael Nunes is a martial artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil with a 10-1 record. He is the former Premier FC Lightweight Champion and has steamrolled through the competition in his home country with a knack for winning by exciting finish. All but one of Nunes’ 10 wins have ended within the distance. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, Nunes is equally comfortable finishing his opponents by submission or by strikes. He looks to showcase his multifaceted skill set in his next bout, and will face a tough challenge when he takes on veteran Eric Kelly.

Jimmy Yabo Banks on Experience, Avoids Being Complacent vs Brazilian Foe

A tough test awaits Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo in his first outing under the ONE Championship banner in 2017, but the Filipino fighter believes that he will be the roadblock to his highly-touted Brazilian opponent’s impressive run in the organization.
After ten months sitting on the sidelines, Yabo makes his return to the ONE Championship cage to take on Brazilian grappling ace Bruno Pucci on the undercard of ONE: LIGHT OF A NATION, which takes place at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on Friday, 30 June.
Yabo, who has been competing in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) for nearly a decade, stressed that his experience will play a pivotal role in trumping Pucci in their five-round featherweight encounter.
“My advantage coming into this fight is my experience. I have fought different caliber of opponents throughout my career. Don’t count me out yet because I am here to go back to the Philippines with the sweet win,” he said,
Holding a professional MMA record of 5-4, 1 NC, Yabo boasts one of the best finishing percentages in ONE Championship’s featherweight division as his last five wins came by way of knockout.
Yabo’s most impressive victory was when he knocked out Pakistan’s Bashir Ahmad in 21 second with a counter right hook in February 2016.
“He knows what’s on the line. I also know what’s at stake in this fight. As a veteran of this sport, I know I can spoil the party. If I can execute my game plan perfectly, I will get the job done,” Yabo stated,
However, Yabo has a tall order in front of him as Pucci is considered one of the most promising young talents to represent Brazil on the international stage of MMA like ONE Championship.
A first-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and world champion in No Gi, Pucci owns a win-loss slate of 4-2 and is famous for finishing all his fights on the ground via rear naked choke.
Although Yabo is entering the featherweight contest as the experienced competitor, being complacent is one trait that he wants to avoid as he faces Pucci on 30 June.
“I shouldn’t be overconfident in this fight. He may be a young fighter, but he presents a stiff test. I have to be careful,” he stated.
Despite the ten-month layoff and the two-fight losing skid, Yabo is confident that he can get the job done against a tough opposition like Pucci.
“I am very confident that I can win this one. I learned my lesson from defeats. It’s time for me to rise up and make a statement,” he asserted.
“Experience is the key. Bruno Pucci is young and talented, but I have been around for so long. I am ready for this given task to fight him,” Yabo ended.

Johua Pacio: "vying for the world title once again is my main goal"

Filipino fighter Joshua Pacio knows that if he plays his cards right against Thai combatant Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, he will get an opportunity to challenge Japanese veteran Yoshitaka Naito for the ONE Strawweight World Championship title again.
Pacio and Naito crossed paths this past October in the main event of ONE: STATE OF WARRIORS, where the latter had to endure two grueling rounds before he pulled off a come-from-behind victory by submitting the Pinoy prospect with a rear-naked choke in the third frame to keep the gold-plated strap around his waist.
The 21-year-old Baguio City native hopes that if he secures a convincing win over Dejdamrong, it will grant him a second date with Naito for the ONE Strawweight World Championship belt later this year.
“I want to fight for the world title again. I was inches away from winning it, but one mistake took that one crowning moment away from me. Since my loss to Naito, vying for the world title once again is my main goal,” Pacio stated.
“I have the chance to face Naito again for the belt if I will get the win over Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke on March 11. The stakes are high in this fight,” he added.

However, Pacio is not alone in the quest to get a second encounter with Naito as Dejdamrong also has a history with the undefeated Japanese champion.
Dejdamrong relinquished his hold of the ONE Strawweight World Championship belt to Naito in May 2016, yielding to the Japanese submission specialist by way of fourth-round rear-naked choke.
Even though it was not publicly announced that the meeting between Pacio and Dejdamrong will be a title eliminator, the Filipino standout truly believes that the winner of the bout will get a rematch with Naito.
“Dejdamrong is a former champion. For sure, he wants to face Naito again and reclaim the belt. On the other hand, I have the same goal in mind. There’s no doubt that the winner of this fight will face Naito. It’s a must-win bout for both of us,” Pacio said.
Pacio clarified that he is not in a hurry and is willing to wait for his turn as strawweights like Alex Silva and Rene Catalan has moved up in the rankings with their recent wins inside the ONE Championship cage.
If he manages to get his hand raised against Dejdamrong, Pacio is ready to prove his position as next in line for Naito’s strawweight title.

“I am not in a hurry. I will honor and respect ONE Championship’s decision if they will not give me another title shot after this fight,” he said. “I will always be grateful with what I have. I have no problem if I need to prove once again that I deserve a championship opportunity.”
Pacio locks horns with Dejdamrong on the undercard of ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM, which takes place at the 12,000-seater Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on 11 March.

ONE Wujie: Dynasty of Champions set for 23 January in Changsha

ONE Championship, Asia’s largest mixed martial arts promotion, will kick off 2016 with a bang, as it brings its world-class MMA event to Changsha, China on 23 January. ONE Championship has set the stage for another thrilling night of world-class mixed martial arts action.
Taking place at the Changsha Stadium in Changsha, China, ONE Championship will delight fans with an electrifying lineup of exciting fights headlined by a main event which will see ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes defend his title against challenger Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines.
“ONE Championship continues its dedication to cultivating the sport of mixed martial arts in China with another adrenaline-filled night of fights,” said CEO Victor Cui, in a statement released to the media.
“This is a great way to start 2016 and is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. Our success in Beijing sets the stage for an even better event in Changsha.”
ONE Bantamweight World Champion, Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil is one of the most dominant title holders in ONE Championship.
Considered one of the best fighters in the world and is ranked as one of the top bantamweights, Fernandes has amassed a stellar professional record which hasn’t seen him lose a bout in the last five years. His technical ground game paired with his fluid striking and well-rounded skills have brought him to the top of his division.
Fernandes will now defend his title against a very strong competitor in Kevin Belingon.
Kevin Belingon of the famed Team Lakay stable in Baguio City, Philippines has long been one of the most exciting fighters in ONE Championship’s roster.
Belingon possesses fearsome striking power brought about by his high-level Wushu background.
His highlight reel of spectacular finishes has seen him victorious against the top fighters in his division, and he now looks to make the most out of his much-anticipated crack at ONE Championship gold when he takes on defending champion, Bibiano Fernandes.
Apart from the main event, a slew of international and local mixed martial artists are expected to perform. The event will also hold the Changsha Bantamweight Tournament which seeks to discover the next local MMA superstar.

Two Beijing Featherweight Champs to Battle Inside Cage
Beijing featherweight champions Li Kai Wen (4-2) and Yang Sen (2-0) are set to stand across each other inside the ONE Championship cage this 23 January, at ONE Wujie: Dynasty of Champions which takes place in the Changsha Stadium in Changsha, China.
The bout will serve as part of the undercard to the main event between reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes as he takes on Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines.
Li Kai Wen is on a nifty three-fight win streak, clinching the first instance of the Beijing Featherweight Tournament Championship with two wins in just one night.
He defeated opponent Nathan Ng by TKO in his most recent outing.
An explosive finisher, Li brings electricity to the crowd with his fast-paced and powerful striking and has the ability to end a fight at any given moment.
Li’s opponent, Yang Sen enjoyed an eventful 2015, winning the second iteration of the Beijing Featherweight Tournament.
Yang’s impeccable striking and well-calculated offense has brought him success inside the ONE Cage, as he looks to prove that Chinese fighters are truly world-class mixed martial artists.
It will be a battle of local martial arts superstars when Li and Yang finally step inside the cage, and one that fans are definitely looking forward to.
The Changsha event is part of an ambitious two-year plan laid out by ONE Championship, that sets to stage over 20 live events over the course of a two-year period. The promotion, Asia’s largest and most prolific, has held successful shows previously in Beijing and Shanghai. They will look to replicate their success this time in Changsha, in what looks to be a great year for the organization.
Part of ONE Championship’s phenomenal growth plan is developing local mixed martial arts heroes, particularly in China where the market is largely untapped but steadily booming. With the rise of heroes such as Li Kai Wen and Yang Sen, the promotion is headed in the right direction.

The growth of MMA in the region can also be attributed to ONE Championship’s aggressive expansion.

The win established Lee as the queen of submissions in ONE Championship. Known for being a sweetheart who transforms into a formidable contender in the cage, Angela ends her fights fast, with her first three bouts ending by first round submission. Angela looks to keep the streak alive when she meets her next opponent, Polish fighter, Lena Tkhorevska.
Lena Tkhorevska is one of Poland’s fastest rising female MMA stars. She makes her ONE Championship debut in Manila and can be described as a versatile fighter, complete with a formidable stand-up and ground game. Tkhorevska owns a knockout and a pair of submission victories as a professional and is set to give her opponent Angela Lee a tough fight in Manila.
Singaporean featherweight prospect by way of Hawaii, USA, Christian Lee will be following in his sister’s footsteps by turning professional inside the ONE Cage. Coming from a family of impressive martial artists, Christian was crowned multiple-time Junior Pankration World Champion with a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was voted ‘Most Outstanding Athlete’ at the 2013 FILA World Championships after winning five world titles across the disciplines of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Pankration, MMA, and Submission Grappling. Team Lakay’s Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio will face Chinese fighter Yang Jian Bing in a surefire fast-paced flyweight bout. After two losses, one against Anatpong Bunrad and the other against Adriano Moraes, Eustaquio is eager to come back better and stronger, and showcase just how much he has improved since. Yang Jian Bing is one of the most promising young flyweights to come out of China. With five victories on his professional record, including three submissions, Yang is a nightmare matchup for anyone in his division. Despite the remarkable success he’s had in grappling, Yang considers striking to be his forte and will look to take the fight straight to Geje Eustaquio of the Philippines.
Eugene Toquero is one of the most exciting fighters to come out of Manila. His time inside the ONE Cage has been memorable, as he’s delighted fans with impeccable striking and flashy combinations. The former celebrity MMA trainer recently fell short of victory at ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA when he lost to Riku Shibuya via unanimous decision. Toquero is set to do battle with Wu Ze, who represents a chance for him to get back on track for a title shot in the future.
Chinese flyweight Wu Ze has seven years of mixed martial arts training, with a strong background in Sanda and Wrestling. He became the winner of the ONE Guangzhou Flyweight Tournament Finals when he defeated Yang Jian Bing via split decision. Wu, who is also a parkour and extreme sports enthusiast has proven to be an exciting fighter just like his next opponent, Eugene Toquero of the Philippines. This bout between two flyweights is definitely one to watch out for.
Bruno “Pucci Bull” Pucci from Brazil makes his much awaited return to the ONE Cage after a year-long break. A first degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and world champion in No Gi, Pucci is famous for finishing all his fights via his favourite submission move, the Rear Naked Choke. Pucci’s winning streak came to a devastating halt when he lost to Major Overall last year at ONE: HONOR & GLORY. He is determined to get back on the right track, this time against Anthony Engelen.
Anthony Engelen is a Dutch fighter who trains full-time in Indonesia. Just like his next opponent, Engelen’s strength lies in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, making his match a potential war of attrition on the ground. Engelen is undefeated in his first three professional fights and his debut with ONE Championship gives him the chance to advance his position in a stacked division. Standing in his way is Evolve-MMA

Ev Ting had little trouble taking care of Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario, finishing the Filipino via Guillotine Choke just moments into the first round. Banario opted to shoot for takedowns instead of relying on his Wushu base which proved to be his downfall. Ting capitalized on a missed shot by Banario and sunk in a deep choke to force the tap.

FILIPINA BOXERS TURNED ONE FC MMA FIGHTERS READY FOR ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY

Filipina boxers turned MMA fighters Ana Julaton and Jujeath Nagaowa are both set to show their wares on December at SM Arena.
ONE FC’s May event in Manila earlier this year was a successful endeavour, as both former professional boxers Jujeath Nagaowa and Ana Julaton earned victories and solidified their standing as leading belles of women’s MMA in the Philippines.
At ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY on December 5, they aim to put on a repeat performance. Both women will once again be in action on the same night. Nagaowa is set to face Cambodia’s Tharoth Sam while Julaton has a stern test in front of her against Egypt’s Walaa Abbas.
The ONE FC female mixed martial arts scene continues to thrive, especially with the addition of the two former boxers. Julaton previously won both the WBO and IBA Super Bantamweight titles in boxing.
Julaton then decided to try her hand in mixed martial arts and immediately fell in love with the sport. She has now enlisted the help of prominent wrestling coach Ricky Lundell to improve her grappling and is eager to showcase her newfound skills in her next fight.
Julaton is now set to fight in Manila for the second time, and will look to have her hand raised in victory once again in front of her fans in the Philippines.
“Ana is so proud to be Filipina and has been working so hard to make all her supporters and Kababayans proud of her. With Coach Ricky Lundell teaching her ground game you can expect a new and improved Ana Julaton,” her boxing coach, Angelo Reyes, says.
Nagaowa, on the other hand, is a true rags-to-riches story.
She came through the ranks in the Philippine boxing scene before winning the WBO Asia title, competing in several bouts in Korea and Japan. The native of Baguio City has ferocious punching power and is rounding out her game, training with some of the top gyms in the country.

It may be a matter of time before a ONE FC World Championship belt is introduced for the women’s division, but both Julaton and Nagaowa can stake a claim for a title opportunity with victories at ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY.
Tickets for ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY on 5 December in Manila are on sale now at SM Tickets (http://www.smtickets.com). Ticket categories begin with the full Red Carpet and cageside experience for VIPs at PHP 6,360 followed by Patron PHP 3,180, Lower Box PHP 1,280, Upper Box PHP 640 and General Admission PHP 220.  Prices include ticketing fee. Pre-sale packages are currently available.

BRANDON VERA TO LEAD PACK OF 7 PINOYS AT ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY

BRANDON VERA TO LEAD PACK OF 7 PINOYS AT ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY

On December 5, 2014, 7 Filipinos will show their warrior skills inside the cage in front of the Filipino audience at the SM Arena.
The pack of 7 will be led by none less, Brandon Vera, international MMA superstar who is set to have his debut fight for ONE FC that night.

ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY is set to be the organization’s fifth stop in the country, and the star-studded card will feature seven Filipino superstars taking on foreign opponents.

Jujeath Nagaowa, Ana Julaton, Rene Catalan, Honorio Banario, Kevin Belingon, Eduard Folayang and MMA superstar Brandon Vera are the seven Filipino stars set to feature on the card and the group form an impressive representation of the martial arts prowess of the Philippines. Both Jujeath Nagaowa and Ana Julaton have boxing pedigrees, with Julaton a former WBO and IBA Super Bantamweight Champion. Catalan, Banario, Belingon and Folayang all have a long list of accolades in Wushu and Brandon Vera is a kickboxing champion and one of the most highly touted fighters in recent history. A win for any of the Filipino stars could put them up for title contention in a future event.

Jujeath Nagaowa is taking on Tharoth Sam, a female mixed martial arts pioneer from Cambodia. Julaton, who arguably had the loudest ovation at the last Manila event, will be back in action once again to take on Egyptian kickboxing champion Walaa Abbas. Julaton has been training with some of the top wrestling coaches in the states and is eager to showcase her new grappling chops in this bout.

Former ONE FC Featherweight World Champion Honorio Banario will look to make the climb back into title contention, but he faces a stern test in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion Herbert Burns. Belingon will be disappointed that he is not in the main event, considering he was dominating in a #1 contender bout against Dae Hwan Kim before succumbing to a submission. Dae now gets to compete in the main event and Belingon will be determined to gain a headlining spot.

Eduard Folayang has another stern test in Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin. Folayang has staked his claim for a title opportunity by defeating Vincent Latoel and former ONE FC Lightweight World Champion Kotetsu Boku, and a win over Nastyukhin will make it hard for the matchmakers to overlook his claims.

The event will also see the debut of MMA superstar Brandon Vera in the Philipines. Fans in the country have been clamouring for an opportunity to see him live in action for more than a decade and will now get the chance at ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY. He will take on Igor Subora, a Ukrainian who has destroyed the regional scene in the Philippines. The clash of heavyweights is one of the most heavily-anticipated bouts of the year and will cap off the Filipino participation at this momentous event.

Koetsu Okazaki worked his way up the ranks of Shooto by dominating all opposition and earned the Shooto World Championship belt as a featherweight. He has never been knocked out or stopped with strikes due to his excellent chin and ability to take a punch. Okazaki is looking to continue his win streak by defeating Kevin Belingon to move up the ranks and work his way to another shot at the Bantamweight title.
Kevin Belingon is arguably one of the best bantamweights to hail from the Philippines, renowned for his striking ability while possessing incredible speed and power. He can get in and out of range without being taken down or countered and can inflict serious damage with just a single strike. To top it off, Belingon has some of the most dangerous kicks in the entire division, rounding things out with explosive takedowns and devastating ground-and-pound. Belingon is set to come back stronger this time against Okazaki in front of his home crowd.
Honorio Banario has a record of 8-4 and is hungry for a win, with the ultimate goal of landing another shot at ONE FC gold down the road. Known for his aggressive yet calculated approach to striking, Banario will need to overcome the toughest challenge of his career against Brazilian featherweight standout Herbert Burns before he can consider himself back in the running for the ONE FC Featherweight world title.
Herbert Burns is one of the top Featherweight prospects in ONE FC with a penchant for locking in fight-ending submissions. With his strong background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Burns is widely considered the top contender in his division and is on the fast track to getting a shot at the ONE FC Featherweight title. He is extremely driven to win the belt to prove to fans all over the world that no one can get in his way.
Newly signed Roger Gracie will make his debut at ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY against contender, James McSweeney. Roger is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of all time and is part of the world famous Gracie fighting family, the originators of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He is undeniably one of the most skilled grapplers to transition into mixed martial arts and is looking to showcase his world-class technical acumen when he competes in Asia for the very first time.
Challenging Roger Gracie in this exciting light heavyweight bout is British fighter, James McSweeney, who is coming off a series of wins since his debut in ONE FC. Nicknamed ‘The Hammer’, McSweeney is menacing in the cage and will look to completely destroy his opponent to prove that he is the top fighter in the ONE FC light heavyweight division.
Since transitioning into mixed martial arts, former collegiate wrestling standout Jake Butler has amassed four victories with only one defeat and has exhibited some of the finest wrestling skills seen in professional mixed martial arts competition. Butler uses his elite wrestling pedigree to control opponents on the ground and in the clinch, where he does most of his damage by assuming dominant position and unleashing powerful strikes. Butler has been waiting for a rematch against Sylvain Potard to avenge the only loss on his otherwise unblemished record. ONE FC: WARRIOR’S WAY is the perfect opportunity for Butler to even the score.
French fighter, Sylvain Potard has a record of 7-4, with one of those victories being a memorable one-punch knockout of Jake Butler at ONE FC: TOTAL DOMINATION. In a highly-anticipated rematch, Potard will enter the ONE FC cage with Butler, this time, to prove his first victory was no fluke. A victory here will reinstate that he is the better fighter of the two. Both Potard and Butler have a lot riding on this matchup and fans will not want to miss the action.

BIBIANO FERNANDES SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDS ONE FC BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

2 May 2014 – Manila: ONE Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC), Asia’s largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization with a 90% market share, impressed the sold-out crowd in attendance at the state-of-the-art Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena with ONE FC: RISE OF HEROES. Fans were treated to an unforgettable night of mixed martial arts action, culminating in a successful title defence of the ONE FC Bantamweight World Championship by Bibiano Fernandes. Filipino fans in attendance also had reason to cheer, as all five Filipino mixed martial artists won their respective bouts.

Bibiano Fernandes displayed both grappling and striking skills en route to his first successful title defense. The first round of the main event was fairly even. Fernandes managed to take Ueda down, but Ueda reversed the position and landed a knee before time expired. Bibiano Fernandes established his dominance in the second round. He landed more strikes and also succeeded with a takedown attempt.  Fernandes found success in the third round as well, ending the round with a rear naked choke attempt. Fernandes’ world class grappling prowess shone through in the championship rounds as Ueda failed to find an answer to his takedowns. All three judges scored the bout in Fernandes’ favour.

Striking pugilists Eduard Folayang and Kotetsu Boku went to battle in the co-main event, but it was Folayang’s improved wrestling skills that swung the bout in his favor. Both parties were highly respectful of each other’s striking pedigree and were hesitant to strike in the opening exchanges. Folayang took Boku down with an empathic slam in the first round, and came close to finishing the bout with an armbar attempt before time ran out. Folayang’s improved grappling was on full display in the second round, as he took Boku down on several attempts as well as grazed Boku with a spinning wheel kick. After a wild third round where both fighters attacked valiantly in search of the knockout finish, Folayang emerged with his hands raised with a unanimous decision victory.
Docyogen chalked up another win for the Philippines by defeating Joshua Alvarez. Alvarez began the bout by threatening with a rear naked choke, but Docyogen survived and went on to dominate the rest of the first round with superior grappling skills. Docyogen thwarted all of Alvarez’s takedown attempts in the second round while clearly winning the striking exchanges. Docyogen found his striking range again in the third round, landing countless strikes at will. All three judges awarded the unanimous decision to Docyogen.
Rob Lisita extended his winning streak to four by overcoming Yusuke Kawanago in his ONE FC debut. The pair fought two years ago, with Kawanago emerging victorious then. Lisita clearly had revenge on his mind as he fervently stalked Kawanago from the opening bell. Lisita caught Kawanago with a precise left hook while Kawanago was advancing, and jumped on the opportunity to finish the fight by unloading a series of punches.
The heavyweight clash between Chris Lokteff and James McSweeney pitted two of ONE FC’s best strikers against each other, and it did not disappoint. The bout was contested entirely on the feet, with both fighters having their share of shots landed. With Lokteff backed up against the cage, McSweeney threw a perfect knee that landed flush on the chin of the Australian, knocking him out.
Leandro Ataides extended his impressive professional record to eight wins and no losses with a knockout victory over Tatsuya Mizuno. The victory marked Ataides’ second knockout in the ONE FC cage in as many appearances. Ataides hounded Mizuno across the cage, and a series of left hooks caused the Japanese mixed martial artist to collapse, signalling an end to the bout only forty seven seconds into the first round.
Boxing champion Ana Julaton received the loudest ovation of the evening, and proceeded to prove why she is one of the most popular sportswomen in the Philippines. Julaton demonstrated her newly acquired grappling skills in the first round, executing a successful takedown manoeuvre. Julaton faced some adversity in the second round when Saber attempted a guillotine choke, but she managed to defend the submission and retaliated with several slams and punches from top position. With the crowd cheering her every move, Julaton reversed Saber’s takedown attempt to gain a mounted position in the third round. She began to let loose a series of devastating punches that ended the bout with less than a minute remaining.
The flyweight bout between Gianni Subba and Eugene Toquero featured two of the most talented stars in the division. Toquero proved to be the superior mixed martial artist over three rounds, ending Subba’s three-fight winning streak in ONE FC with a unanimous decision victory. Toquero, a former muay thai practitioner, dictated the striking range with leg kicks in the first round. A well-timed takedown and superior ground control allowed Subba to control proceedings early in the second round, but Toquero reversed the position and hurt Subba with several deadly elbow strikes. Toquero secured several takedowns in the final stanza, and earned the nod on all three of the judges’ scorecards.

The opening bout of the evening featured two hard-hitting female mixed martial artists. Hometown favoriteJujeath Nagaowa quickly established her dominance in the first round, using crisp boxing skills to set up several takedowns.  Nagaowa, the former WBO Atomweight Champion, decided to keep the fight standing in the second round. That proved to be the correct decision as she unleashed a barrage of punches that ultimately forced referee Oliver Coste to step in, earning Nagaowa a TKO victory.

Ana Julaton proved that she belongs inside the cage, getting her first win!

Ana Julaton will always be a boxer, she has proven herself as one of the best women boxer in the world, but tonight she conquered a new stage and she might have found a new home inside the cage of OneFC.

Coming in to the fight, there is a certain tense in the air for the Filipino fans as they nervously anticipate the first ever MMA ring walk of the Filipina Boxing champ. Ana Julaton accompanied by her striking coach and her training partner Ronny Turiaf (an NBA player) walks inside the cage with thousand of Filipino fans screaming in excitements,  It was quite a treat.

And while the ring walk is a highlight of its own, the fight was even better. Ana Julaton faced a 5 fight veteran from Egypt Aya Saeid Saber, and as predicted, Ana was a lot better when it comes to stand up fighting, it was expected that her opponent would take her down and make it a wrestling and a grappling match.

Ana Julaton struggled with her take down defense and was constantly taken down by her opponent but resilience and her unwavering commitment to continue to fight, even when she was almost submitted proved enough for her to survived the early scare.

Julaton finally took care of business in the 3rd round giving her opponent  a taste of her own medicine, taking her down and throwing down relentless left and right punches, and even showing a version of the hammer punch. The end is due to come.

The fight was stopped by the referee as the  opponent Aya Saeid Saber was getting punished real bad and could not retaliate.

Ana Julaton won her first MMA fight in OneFC and nothing could be sweeter than getting it done in front of the home crowrd!

“Expect explosive knockouts and exciting finishes in what is probably the most exciting fight card ever that will keep fans from around the world on the edge of their seats,” Victor Cui, ONE FC chief executive, said.
Cui said the 10 bouts will feature some of the biggest stars in the Philippines and around the world, including Bibiano Fernandes of Brazil, Masakatsu Ueda of Japan, Eduard Folayang of the Philippines, Kotetsu Boku of Japan, and Ana Julaton of the US.
The main event will pit Fernandes, the reigning ONE FC bantamweight champion, against Ueda, a former Shooto featherweight kingpin and on paper is perhaps the best fighter the former will be facing since he started competing in Asia.
Fernandes (15-3), who has held two titles in Dream and one in ONE FC, is 3-0 under the ONE FC banner and has three first-round finishes during his current seven-fight win streak and is undefeated in three years. Ueda (18-2-2), on the other hand, is 3-0 in his return to Asia after winning ONE FC’s bantamweight tournament.
The co-main event will be another explosive matchup, with Folayang facing a tough Japanese in Boku, a former ONE FC lightweight champion. Folayang won in December 2013 against Dutch-Indonesian Vincent Latoel while Boku scored a first-round knockout win over Arnaud Lepont only last March.
“Fans will surely love this explosive matchup of two lightweight contenders who are both gunning for a title shot,” Cui said.
Being anticipated is the fight between Fil-Am female world boxing champion Julaton and Egyptian kickboxing champion Saber.
The California-based Julaton, who has twice held the WBA and IBO 122-pound belts, has just made the switch to MMA and will be fighting for the first time before a hometown crowd. “I’m excited to fight infront of my ‘kababayans,’” she was quoted as saying.
Saber, on the other hand, is an Egyptina kickboxing champion and is the first female MMA fighter from Egypt to fight in ONE FC. “I can’t wait to get into the cage and beat Ana and make my fight team and family proud. Unlike Ana, I am not new to MMA,” she said.
Another high-action bout is the rematch between Rob Lisita, who is the best featherweight to emerge from Australia, and Japanese Yusuke Kawanago, the former Legend FC bantamweight champion who has beaten some of the best featherweights in Asia. He beat Lisita via a unanimous decision in 2012, a decision which the Australian initially contested. The rematch will finally settle the issue.
The other fights sure to grab the fans’ interest involve Team Lakay fighter Rey Docyogen, a former pinweight champion of the URCC, against Guam-based Joshua Alvarez, and Filipino muay thai champion Eugene Toquero and undefeated Malaysian-American Gianni Subba.
Also worth watching is the battle between MMA newcomer Jujeath Nagaowa, the first Filipina fighting under ONE FC, and Indian seven-time kickboxing champion Jeet Toshi, who is also considered India’s pioneer MMA female fighter.
Rounding out the card are Japanese Tatsuya Mizuno and Brazilian Leandro Ataidas in the middleweight division; English James McSweeney and Australian Chris Lokteff in the heavyweight division, and Burmese Aung La Sang and Egyptian Mahmoud Salama in the middleweight division. ###

One FC: Team Lakay predicts KO win by Eduard Folayang

TEAM LAKAY COACH PREDICTS KNOCKOUT WIN BY FOLAYANG

Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao predicts Eduard Folayang will knock out his Japanese opponent, Kotetsu Boku, in the ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) event on May 2, revealing that the Team Lakay fighter has improved a lot.

“But if Eduard won’t be able to knock Boku out, I’m sure it’s going to be a great fight until the third round and it may go to a decision,” Sangiao said.

He admitted that Boku is a great fighter, especially in boxing. “He is one of the best boxers in the ONE FC Lightweight division.”

Compared to Folayang’s past opponents, Sangiao said Boku is faster and a good striker. That’s the reason, he said, they are not taking chances, specially that Boku just came from a first-round knockout win over Arnaud Lepont at ONE FC 14 in March in Malaysia.

“Eduard is undergoing a very intense training in all aspects of mixed martial arts, in standing and on the ground. There are some differences from some of the routines that we were doing before,” Sangiao said.

Folayang’s training regimen includes strength and conditioning in the morning, skills training in the afternoon and sparring sessions twice a week. “We are focusing in all aspects of the game,” the coach said.

A hired foreign wrestling coach likewise comes up to Baguio City every other week to train Folayang and the other Team Lakay fighters. Ground game or wrestling has been identified in the past as a weakness among these Filipino MMA fighters, which prompted Team Lakay to hire a foreign wrestling coach.

But if Filipino MMA fighters have a weakness in their arsenal, so does Boku, Sangiao said.

“We see some weaknesses in Boku’s skills and that’s one thing that we are trying to focus on right now, but this is MMA so we are preparing in all aspects of the game. We see some holes on Boku’s skills and I hope we could address that during the fight,” he said.

Folayang (13-4) and Boku (21-9-2) will fight in ONE FC: Rise of Heroes’ co-main event headlined by the bantamweight world championship battle between Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes and Japanese Masakatsu Ueda at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. In an earlier interview, Folayang expressed confidence he will win against the Japanese.

“Mananalo ako. Magaling sya sa striking pero magaling din ako. Malakas ako sa kanya sa takedown,” he said. ###

OneFC Yusuke Kawanago and Rob Lisita promises to be a great fight, One of this fighters look up to Pacquiao

LISITA PROMISES ALL-ACTION FIGHT VS KAWANAGO IN ONE FC RISE OF HEROES
30 March 2014 – Manila: Australian featherweight contender Rob “Ruthless” Lisita has promised a great, all-action fight against former Legend FC Featherweight champion Yusuke Kawanago, a battle “which the fans will truly enjoy,” on May 2 in ONE Fighting Championship’s Rise of Heroes at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.
“Fans can expect ruthless aggression, a dog fight, a good scrap,” Lisita said as he seeks revenge against his former tormentor who won via a close decision when the two brawled in August 2012 under another MMA organization.
After that fight, which Lisita believed he won, the Australian has won three in a row, all by way of stoppage. In his last bout, he was the first fighter to ever beat Japanese mixed martial arts legend “Lion” Takeshi Inoue via stoppage.
He said MMA fans will enjoy it more this time. “Our first fight was good; we have both improved, we are gonna trade punches, and I always come to fight. It’s gonna be a great fight.”
Lisita sees his winning streak intact after May 2 as he predicts a victory over Kawanago. “I’m gonna put my fist on his chin and get my hand raised. I believe I have the power to knock him out; but it’s a fight anything can happen. I will do my best, and I think my best is better than his best.”
Since his fight with Kawanago, the Australian has done nearly all his training camps at Phuket Top Team, considered one of the best MMA training facilities in Asia today, which gave him access to quality sparring partners and coaching instructors.
“I have grown more in every aspect of mixed martial arts and have shown it in my fights. I am so motivated for this fight,” he said, adding: “I’m a different animal now. It’s my time.”
Lisita’s style is expected to please the fans as he carries his aggressiveness to the cage and will not hesitate to bring the fight to his opponent. That’s the reason he got the monicker “Ruthless.” In his own words, Lisita calls himself a “pitbull, someone who attacks and will fight to the death.”
He said the fans can expect a ruthless Lisita on May 2. “I don’t know any other way.”
If Lisita needed any more motivation for his bout against Kawanago, he received it at the press conference at the MOA last March 18. While on the podium for his turn to talk, the Japanese confidently stated that his opponent is not as good as him and that he will knock him out on May 2. That obviously got Lisita hot under the collar and the duo had an intense staredown after the press conference.
Speaking to reporters after the press conference, Lisita said: “I think those words (of Kawanago) are spoken out of fear. We trained together after our first fight. He knows who the better guy is and I’ll prove it when I knock him out.”
Both fighters have a habit of putting on exciting bouts and many pundits believe this bout has the potential to steal the show. Lisita agrees with the assessment, putting down a challenge to Kawanago “I’m going to be standing in the middle ready to stand and trade. Will you meet me there, or will you be scared and run?”
Both fighters are new acquisitions by ONE FC as the organization secures the top mixed martial arts fighters across the world. They will be looking to make an immediate impact in the ONE FC Featherweight division as a victory will propel them to the shortlist of contenders for the World Championship belt currently held by Japanese Koji Oishi.
For Rob, signing with ONE FC is a dream as he gets to chase a world championship. “Everything about ONE FC is world-class. The production, the people, the fans, it’s all a whole new world to me and I can’t wait to showcase just what I can do. After this fight in May everybody will be talking about Rob Lisita and calling for me to fight for the title.”
