Pacquiao’s Canadian adviser, Michael Koncz, said the Filipino champion is scheduled to appear on US television shows to promote his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title defense.
“There will be tremendous amounts of TV guestings because that’s part of the agreement we had with Showtime and CBS, to promote the fight and break the pay-per-view record,” Koncz told abs-cbnNEWS.com.
Unlike his previous fights aired by HBO Sports, Pacquiao’s bout with Mosley will be carried by Showtime, which is a division of US media conglomerate CBS Corporation.
Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc., which promotes Pacquiao’s fights, plans to take advantage of CBS’ wider audience to boost the bout’s pay-per-view profits.
As part of the promotional package, Showtime is airing a 4-part documentary about the Pacquiao-Mosley fight, titled Fight Camp 360, which is similar to HBO 24/7.
Pacquiao’s past TV guestings in the US included interviews on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and 60 Minutes.
“We have a number of activities that we gonna do that we haven’t done in the past,” said Koncz.
Pacquiao and his team flew to the US on Saturday after wrapping up a 3-week, high-altitude training in Baguio City.
He will spend 4 weeks of intensive training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles before heading to Las Vegas a week prior the fight.
Pacquiao has a professional record of 52 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws while Mosley has 46 win 6 losses and 1 draw.
