Former Two Division Champ Zab Judah is Back on the Ring on January 27

Zab Judah is Back on the Ring on January 27

Dekada Fight Night

Calgary, Canada at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino the former two-division champion Zab Judah is continuing his boxing career as he takes on an unknown opponent, Noel Mejia Rincon in a 10 rounder professional boxing match that may prove nothing.
Zab Judah at 40 years old had some great boxing battles that include winning the world junior welterweight and the welterweight belts. His encounter with Tsyu, Mayweather, Spinks, Mathysse, Cotto were some of the most memorable fights.
The fight in Canada would not have the best card but if you are a fan of boxing, you should in Canada you should take advantage of the opportunity to see the former champ whoop the ass of his opponent.

Conor McGregor Could Be In Trouble, Floyd Thinks So

Conor McGregor Allegedly Punched a Member of the Irish Cartel and May have a 900,00 bounty on his head!

The Notorious one is proving to be exactly what he is called not only inside the cage but also outside as there are reports that Conor McGregor could have done too much and may have encountered his match outside the cage. Connor is known for his boastful approach and allegedly punched a member of the Irish cartel that now put a bounty on his head.
Floyd Mayweather, I already fucked you up in 2017 and now they about to fuck you up in 2018. You’re about to start a new year with a bang.

Conor McGregor has not returned to the cage since 2016 when he last fought Eddie Alvarez, his last action was a foray in boxing that earned him a lot of cash but lost to Floyd Mayweather in so far his first and only professional fight in boxing. There have been a lot of rumors on his next fight but while that has made the news, this recent rumor about his involvement with the cartel has made rounds as well.

KO of the Year or Upset of the Year? Srisaket Knocked Chocolatito Out of the Boxing P4P Podium

Knockout of the year Ends Chocolatito Reign

The little known Thai fighter burst to the scene of boxing when he upset Roman Gonzales, the consensus number one pound for pound boxer with a majority decision win in front of thousands of boxing crowd at the Madison Square Garden.  Many were not expecting him to win and even put down the undefeated fighter but Srisaket shocked the boxing world by achieving what 46 other fighters have failed to do.
Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez lost his WBC World Super Flyweight title and an immediate rematch was set within the same year and Gonzales was primed for a revenge but destiny has something else planned.
Srisaket brutally knocked out Chocolatito in four rounds in their rematch that further sent a shockwave to the boxing universe and confirmed the end of Gonzales as the #1 P4P boxer that he was.
The fight was considered an upset and the knockout is certainly the best of the year considering the magnitude of the win.

Why is Guillermo Rigondeaux No Longer a Champion?

WBA Strips Guillermo Rigondeaux of his 122-pound title for reason unknown by his team.

The Jackal is one of the most decorated boxers in modern boxing especially when he was an amateur, capturing two gold medals in the Olympics and a few others in other competitions. Guillermo carried on his exemplary performance to the pros having to defeat everyone that he faced until recently when he fought another amateur standout in Vasyl Lomachenko. The fight was one that boxing hardcore fans could call mythical as Guillermo needed to go up two weight classes in order to face Vasyl. But the fight was a let down as Guillermo was visibly outclassed by a bigger Vasyl who forced Guillermo to quit in round 6 of their fight.
The contest was for Vasyl Lomachenko’s WBO Junior Lightweight title (130 lbs).

WBA decided to remove Guillermo from the ranking and take his 122 titles away.

Roc Nation the promoter of Guillermo and his manager were not pleased about the decision of WBA and felt that it was unfair.  According to them, they should have been given an opportunity to at least inform the WBA if they will continue to fight at 130 or go back to 122 lbs, a decision however that Guillermo and his team has not decided yet.
What’s next for Guillermo Rigondeaux?
Deciding if they want to keep fighting for the 122 or 126 would be their next step even if he is naturally a 118 pounder fighter.  At this stage, Rigondeaux who as a champion was having a hard time looking for opponent may have a tougher time this year as a challenger.

ICYMI: Watch Milan Melindo vs Ryoichi Taguchi Bloody Battle

Milan Melindo Lost via Unanimous Decision in Japan

Not exactly the start of the year that Milan Melindo has in mind but he needs to summoned his will and restart after losing his IBF World Light Flyweight Title to tough Japanese opponent  Ryoichi Taguchi New Years Eve in Japan.

Melindo has won five fights in a row before suffering a defeat against the Japanese foe, his records now drops to 37 wins with 3 losses. The Cool Old Cat Mike Cortez Signed by Blackwater, Needs to Prove Himself

Mike Cortez is Back to Blackwater

The former 2x UAAP player of the year and 2X UAAP Champion from Lasalle is probably at the tail end of his basketball career after being dropped by Global Port Batang Pier who is looking to have a young and fast roster this season.
At 37 years old, the former 1st pick overall in 2003 by Alaska has played for a total of seven teams already. His best years were with Alaska where he became an All-Star and a 2-time champion with the same team. Mike Cortez has recently seen a decline in usage especially with his last team, Global Port Batang Pier were he saw himself behind star player Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.

Blackwater took a chance of getting back the veteran player after he was officially released. This is the second stint of Cortez with the Elite. Blackwater offered a one conference length contract, this means that Mike Cortez needs to prove himself in the Philippine Cup to get an extension for the two other conferences of the season.
Here is a look back at the best game of cool cat Mike Cortez with Blackwater Elite.

How Many Awards and Championships did Chris Ross get this year?

Accomplished Year for Chris Ross After Getting Multiple Awards and Championships

The 32-year-old Filipino-American Chris Ross didn’t have early success in the PBA. Drafted overall 3rd by Burger King in 2009, he went on to play with four franchises as an average player, nothing special was happening.
Until his stint with San Miguel Beermen changed everything. He blended well with the team and was able to find a spot and it continued for years. With SMB, Chris Ross has received 5 championships, 2 finals MVP, the best player of the conference, All-Star and many more.

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

It was the last two years were his career suddenly picked up and this year all of his hard work paid off.

Minus the Big Belly, Blatche is still a Good Fit for the Philippines | Why he is important

Andray Blatche Worst Games  + Gilas Pilipinas Great Games = Still a Good Fit

Dray Blatche, Thank you for helping us win against Japan and Taiwan – Filipino Fans

The fact is we could have not won the two games without Andray Blatche.
Yes, Andray Blatche is not his best versions in the last two games and frankly, we were disappointed to see big boy Andray Blatche not keeping up with the team and catching some heavy breathing during the game. He was out of shape and it is one of the main reasons why his performance sucks, but why is he still important to the team and why would we have not won without him?
Coach Chot Reyes still believes in  Andray Blache and so should we.

Dray Blatche doing other things

Against Japan, He played 33 minutes, scored 13 points on 4/11(36%) shooting. He also attempted 6 three-pointers and made 2 of them. Not exactly a great offensive line but he contributed 12 big rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks.

Against Taiwan, he was even worse, he only scored a measly 6 points on a (2/9) 22% FG percentage. He also attempted 5 three-pointers and made none but he again out muscled everyone else and grabbed a total of 14 rebounds, dished out 3 assists and had 5 blocked shots.

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

Blatche was not his best version in the last two games and just to further emphasize how bad it was for our naturalized player, we give you the most glaring stats you will hate to see from any players. Blatche got 6 turnovers each game, that’s a total of 12 turnovers for both games.

The Good in the Bad, Dray is a fit when he is fit

With the holidays just around the corner, it may be difficult to lose that weight, especially with all of the upcoming parties ahead but we hope Andray Blatche would be in good basketball condition come February 2018, for a game against the tough Australia and a rematch against Japan.
Blatche, in one way, accomplished his mission and that’s to help the Philippine team win games. He contributed in other aspects and made things happen on the defensive side for the Gilas Pilipinas who badly needed a guy of his stature. His blocks and rebounds are critical to the game and it was certainly a valuable contribution and a deciding factor in the game. Against bigger Australians, Andray Blatche needs to get fit and we hope he will come February.

Matthew Wright’s Performance and his Amazing Running Buzzer Beater

Matthew Wright Scored 12 Points Against Japan and he earned most of them from the Stripes

The 26-year-old Filipino-Canadian sharpshooter played more minutes than the best player of the game Jayson Castro at 29 minutes. Matthew Wright was a marked man from the start as he is well known for his exemplary shooting from the outside.
Against Japan, however, Matthew Wright had to settle getting his points from the free throw line. Matthew scored one 2-pointers and a 3-pointers in the game and the rest was earned with free throws. Matthew could not get himself going from the outside shooting (1/4) but his free throws did not fail him with a perfect 7/7 free throw percentage.

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

While the Philippines was able to escape a tough Japanese foe with the score of 77-71, it is evident that we need to improve our overall shooting. As a team, Gilas Pilipinas only shot at 38% percent and this is below average. It was our lucky night as Japan shot much poorer with only 34.8% from the field.
Matthew who is one of our main gunners needs to further improve his shooting as he only shot 33%.
Gilas Pilipinas’ next assignment will be Taiwan on November 27. The game will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines.
Here is the amazing running jump shot at the buzzer!

Watch: How Amazing was Jayson Castro Against Japan?

Jayson Castro Leads Gilas Pilipinas to Victory!

31-year-old Jayson Castro is a veteran of the National team and through time he has proven that he is one of the most reliable and effective point guards that we have for a while now.
Against Japan, the 5’10’ point guard and a proud native of Pampanga, Philippines showed that he can lead the team inside and even on the sideline as he also helps coach and also suggests offensive and defensive sets. Truly, Castro has developed and retained his form as a premier point guard in Asia.
Playing 28 minutes, he was able to score 28 points on a 7/23 ( 53%) shooting percentage including 3 three-pointers. For a small guy, he also sneaked in 7 rebounds paired with 6 assists, a steal and only one turnover.

if( window.rNA === undefined ) window.rNA = {}; window.rNA[‘rNA1341’] = {‘id’:’rNA1341′}; var s = document.createElement(‘script’); s.type = ‘text/javascript’; s.async = true; s.src = ((document.location.protocol == ‘https:’)?’https’:’http’)+ ‘://redirectnative.com/code/3/loader.js’; document.getElementById(‘rNA1341’).appendChild(s);

Jayson Castro and the Gilas Pilipinas won their first ever game in the World Cup qualifier defeating Japan on their home turf with the score of 77-71. The battle will not end there however as they are due to come back to the Philippines and play against Taiwan on Monday, November 27 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Congratulations Jayson Castro and Gilas Pilipinas!

Anthony Joshua Needs To Fight Deontay Wilder and Give the People What They Want

Deontay Wilder Demands Heavyweight Unification against Anthony Joshua

Denotay Wilder talks about a fight with another king named Anthony Joshua right after demolishing Bermane Stiverne in the very first round of his mandatory defense for his WBC Heavyweight belt.
Hyped up Deontay Wilder immediately calls out the WBA and IBF Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to a fight and would like to fight no one else but him.

The world wants Joshua, the world wants Wilder, I want Joshua, Joshua come in see me baby, no more hiding , no more ducking no more, no more dodging, no more excuses, Lets make the fight happen, let see whos the best, I know im the best , Are you up for the test? – Deontay Wilder

Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder, A Heavyweight fight of the ages

At 28 years old, with 20 wins including 20 knockouts with no defeat, Anthony Joshua is a proven monster inside the ring. He had faced great adversary including Wladimir Klitschko and is widely considered as one of the best heavyweights right now.
However, there is another man who had a greater record and may be able to challenge the rising star in the name of Deontay Wilder. Recently disposing Bermane Stivernerne, the 32-year-old American with 39 wins and 38 KO and no defeats had been looking for a unification fight against Britain’s Joshua and it looks like the two fighters had nowhere else to go but to face each other, at least that’s what most of the fans would be clamoring for.
A fight between the two will be considered one of the best heavyweights in recent years and probably in modern boxing as two young and heavy punchers could bring fire power inside the ring and will certainly attract more fans in a division that has recently gained some traction. Both undefeated and both champions will come out with heads up high with pride as they represent two different counties in an epic event that could crown one of them as the real kings of heavyweights.
We certainly hope Anthony Joshua’s corner would take the fight and give the fans what they want.
Let’s listen to Deontay Wilder while watching his devastating knockout against Bermane Stiverne.

Post Fight: Michael Bisping and his Surprising Words for Georges St-Pierre and Future Plans

Michael Bisping Lost to Georges St. Pierre

At 40 years old, Bisping acknowledges that he is not a young man after being choked out to sleep by the new middleweight champion Georges St. Pierre.
An obviously frustrated Michael Bisping talks to a reporter about the fight and his plans and one of his immediate plans is to drink and get drunk.
He is a strong man and you can see! God Bless him, Good for him!- Michael Bisping
Bisping was doing great and was defending the takedown of GSP until that dreaded left hook in the 3rd that put him down and instigated the ground and pound and the final move that choked him to sleep.
It is what it is, you have to take it as a man! – Bisping
Michael Bisping is certainly one of the most colorful fighters in the UFC and while he contemplates on his future we certainly like to see him back inside the octagon and kick some ass again.
Check out the interview below.

Pow’s Pick: I think Deontay Wilder Will Defeat Bermane Stiverne via KO

Prediction: The Bronze Bomber will Explode for a Knockout win!

The rematch between Deontay Wilder and Bermane Stiverne is not as anticipated as it should be but will still present boxing fanatics with a great show especially since Dermane was the only fighter who stood up until the end against Deontay.
January 17, 2017, when Stiverne and Wilder first met and back then the now WBC Heavyweight champion Wilder was the challenger to Stiverne who was holding the belt then.
If you have not seen the fight, watch the replay below.

Pow’s Pick:

I am going to make a short work of this prediction like what I feel Deontay Wilder will do to Stiverne. Wilder is a heavy puncher and while Stiverne can claim he can take punishment from a fighter who holds a 97% knockout ratio, it is hard to argue the power that Wilder possesses.
Their first fight was sloppy but still entertaining and the second fight could be widely different. Since they last met, Wilder has been active and has fought five times all of which was knockout or stoppage in favor of the champion. Surely, Wilder at 32 years old is still peaking and while he could use some flourishing in his boxing skills, he has tremendously improved and it will show come fight night against an inactive and a replacement fighter like Stiverne who last fought in 2015.
A two-year layoff will probably add some ring rust to an aging 39-year-old Stiverne whose last bout was a close win against Deric Rossy who dropped him in the first round.
We see Deontay Wilder continuing to do what he does best with a little improvement in shot selections.  Stiverne will show some fight early but will ultimately fall to a bigger and stronger Wilder.
Prediction:  A Knockout between 6 to 9 Rounds

Conor McGregor Wants a Rematch Against Floyd, Will it Happen?

I’ll beat Mayweather in the rematch- McGregor

August 26, 2017, one of the most controversial yet successful professional boxing event was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Two athletes from different backgrounds met inside the cage that ultimately ended as expected with the fighter holding 49 wins with no loss in his professional boxing record  and who stopped a fighter with a zero boxing record.
How did this happen?
Money Talks. And we are not talking about Floyd although we also know that he runs his mouth as fast as his hands go. That faithful night, Floyd Mayweather resembled a different but still a good fighter as he easily defeated an MMA fighter and took home one of his easiest and biggest payday courtesy of the popular MMA fighter.
Today, Connor McGregor has not fought anyone, both in boxing or in MMA and we can all speculate about the reasons but one of the obvious ones is because he doesn’t need to work yet, especially after all the money he earned fighting Floyd.
Recently, Floyd is rumored to be fighting back in the UFC against Nate Diaz but nothing is final until we get that announcement straight from UFC. Conor also got some challenge from professional boxers like Paulie Malignaggi, but it looks like he wants more.
“If I got another go I would beat him,” said McGregor to Sky Sports News. “It’s a style of fighting that caught me off guard because he never fights like that. I did not prepare or anticipate it. Ultimately it got him the win. Much respect to him but it is what it is.”
This was the exact words of the fighting Irishman as he looks to be angling another rematch with Floyd again in a hope to get another big payday. Although the rematch would be very unlikely because Floyd has officially announced his retirement and had promised not to return back, we all know the power of money and I won’t keep the door closed for the possibility.
My guess, however, is that he will be back in the UFC anytime soon.

Georges St-Pierre Talks About his Favorite NBA Player Plus Watch this Epic GSP Inside the Octagon Office Commercial

Georges St-Pierre is scheduled to fight Michael Bisping on November 4th at the MSG, New York.
We know that you can’t wait long enough for the fight so we put together a couple of commercials just to remind you how versatile and flexible Georges is.
Six years ago, this was posted on YouTube and we thought this may be a good video to show first.
At the height of his popularity, he was considered to be one of the best athletes and he earned sponsorship and commercials left and right including this ESPN sports center ad.
One of my favorites.
We know Georges St Pierre is a multi-talented athlete but we  never knew that he could also play basketball, in fact, it looks like he is a big fan of the sports.
He even reveals his favorite player and team.

Divided on Chito Narvasa’s Fate: SMC, Kia and Global Port Want him to Stay as PBA Commissioner

San Miguel Beermen, Barangay Ginebra, Star Hotshots, Kia Picanto and Global Port wants Chito Narvasa to stay as PBA Commissioner.

Five teams appeared beside Chito Narvasa in a press conference in response to the latest press release that the assumed majority bloc of the PBA announced earlier today.
According to incoming Chairman Mon Fernandez, they are no longer supporting the extension of  Chito Narvasa as commissioner due to lack of confidence.  (See story here)

Teams Supporting Chito Narvasa

San Miguel Beermen Governor Robert Non speaks before the media.
“They cannot just act on a whim. What they are doing is not in accordance with our by-laws and constitution. All five teams – San Miguel, Ginebra, Star, Kia and Globalport – stand behind Commissioner Narvasa. He enjoys our full support and we have prevailed upon him to stay and do what is right,”
The group reiterated that the meeting today was not properly announced on time and any move moving forward is not allowed. Robert Non also mentioned that the earlier announcement can’t be valid as it requires two-thirds of the league’s board to make it official.

In this case they still need one more.

https://lap.lazada.com/banner/dynamic.php?banner_id=59f0ad662d9e4&theme=2&p=3

Narvasa addresses trade concern

Narvasa said that the board has the power to review, modify or reverse any decision by the commissioner on any trade within 10 days. He wonders why no team didn’t do it in the case of SMB and Kia trade.
Narvasa, who is now the center of attention also said that he was thinking about resigning but was prevailed upon by friends to stay. He mentioned that he is willing to resign but the rules and procedures should be followed.

PBA Balance of Power

There is certainly some disturbance in the PBA and we can only hope that both parties can find an amicable resolution for the sake of Filipino basketball fans.

Georges St-Pierre vs Michael Bisping Biggest UFC Fight in Madison Square Garden in New York

In the second fight of the UFC in the mecca of sports entertainment, the UFC is bringing back one its legendary fighters and while the first event enjoyed tremendous success the second one might go even further.
Second Coming of St-Pierre
UFC will be back in New York as George St-Pierre returned to the Octagon to take on a bigger challenge as he tries to capture a higher weight class belt than what he was fighting for a few years ago.
Four years ago, Georges St-Pierre from out of nowhere decided to go away from the sports. His last fight against Johnny Hendricks which he won via split decision marks his 9th title defense and up to right now, it still stands as the longest consecutive title defenses in UFC Welterweight division. Georges was considered an invisible fighter during his days and it seems like no one else in the UFC can figure out how to defeat him.

UFC is different now, Bisping is the King of Middleweight
When Georges St. Pierre left the sport, Michael Bisping in 2013 was a different fighter.  Bisping had lost two of his last four fights then to Chael Sonnen in 2012 and Vitor Belfort in 2013. In 2014 Bisping predicament continued as he dropped two of his three fights in 2014 against tough contenders Tim Kennedy and Luke Rockhold.
In 2015, the wheels have turned and since April of 2015 he has not lost a single fight and has gone on to defeat his previous conqueror Luke Rockhold in a fight that also won him the UFC Middleweight belt and the performance of the Night. Bisping at 38 has now compiled 5 wins in a row including memorable fights with Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson.
On November 4, at the Madison Square Garden, one man is looking to restart his MMA career by conquering an unchartered division while the other will try to prove that he belongs to the top as he spoils the return of one of the most prolific fighters that the UFC have seen.

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping prepares for a unique title defense against longtime welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who is coming out of retirement after four years. Bitter rivals and onetime teammates Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw will at last clash for the belt that Garbrandt now holds and that Dillashaw once wore. And dominant strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk readies for her next challenge in the form of unflappable former title challenger Rose Namajunas. Go inside the lives and gyms of these six athletes as they train to compete at the UFC’s historic return to Madison Square Garden.

Ball Scrutiny: 3 Reasons Why Nets Slip Past Cavs 112-107

LeBron James was all out – triple-double performance of 29 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists but still did not suffice the manpower to overthrew Brooklyn Nets.

LeBron James on the fastbreak attack against Nets

How did the Nets manage to win a battle over King James in full throttle?

1 – Cavs too predictable

With LeBron James going all out during the match, he became the backbone of Cavs in the offensive end, their attacks became too centered on LeBron James, thus as the match goes on, the easier it is to stop the Cavs. Only LeBron and Love scored double digits out of the five Cavs starters.

2 – Low team efficiency

With the Cavs being too predictable due to their offensive focus on LeBron almost all the time it was and will be James who’ll try to score, thus only one man had most of the chances to score. The rest of the team may have had a hard time in trying to find their rhythm. Outside shooters with less time to calculate and calibrate their shots whilst the insiders with fewer chances of testing the stiffness of their inside defenders in the post. With only one man being over explosive, the rest of the team’s offense became static.
Despite the Cavs dominating the boards (61-49), meaning they got more ball possession than Nets, most of it remained as empty possessions, unconverted to points. Teamwork effectiveness was found nowhere and thus resulting in total collapse.

3 – Forced turnovers

All of the reasons including this one has one root – Lebron’s over-effectivity and thus whenever he passed the ball to other teammates,  it’s not as though the rest of the team were ready to attack for they expect him to push his own way through.  Whilst receiving the ball unready, it will be easier for the Nets to force turnovers against them. The Nets got 11 steals compared to Cavs only with 5.
The Cavs team, given that they have really exceptional players with unimaginable power must learn not to rely on these men too much to the extent that they will sacrifice team play and team effort and solely just put everything on the shoulders of just some men. Individual power will never beat an impeccable team play.

UFC 217 Preview: Bisping vs St-Pierre, Plus Two other World Titles on the Line
