The best MMA team in the Philippines- Team Lakay swept their three matches at One Championship 45 on August 13 at the Cotai Arena, The Venetian Macau. It is a repeat already. The team went 5-0 at One: Global Rivals just four months ago at the Mall of Asia Arena, Manila. Honorio Banario and Joshua Pacio was in that card too.

On the co-main event, Eduard Folayang was a hope stopper for Adrian Pang’s title shot at the lightweight. There were many savage backfists and sidekicks thrown at him and was getting outscored by ‘The Landslide’. Pang’s chin was so good that he survived the intensity and aggressiveness of the Filipino fighter. I see the aussie winning last night only if he finish Folayang which he didn’t make. The Filipino lightweight was announced as the winner by unanimous decision after three rounds.

Honorio Banario survived Eddie Ng’s takedowns. The former featherweight champion kept coming back with punches raining down on Hongkong-born fighter. Ng tasted some of the sidekicks and knee from Banario. The Filipino finished the three rounds strong and got the unanimous decision win.

Joshua Pacio sealed his second One championship fight win and stays undefeated with eight win overall. It was a rough start for the rookie. Kongsrichai took him down thrice. But the scramble was incredible when Joshua Pacio pummeled him and took Kritsada Kongsrichai’s back, sunk in the choke. The Thai looked helpless to flip him over the top, defenselessly. With the referee stoppage, the future of Team Lakay won by submission (rear-naked choke).

One 45 Championship: Heroes Of The World was a skilled submission grappling and jiu-jitsu kind of Fight Night. Majority of the fights went to the ground and those in their superior ground game got the win.

BJJ black belt Adriano Moraes submitted the striker Tilek Batyrov by way of rear-naked choke in the first round. The win gave the Brazilian an interim One flyweight title. The schedule for a rematch with the reigning flyweight champion Kairat Akhmetov will be for sure in the work.

Also in the first round where the aggressive Martin Nguyen surprised the MMA world by ending Christian Lee’s five-win streak and putting one loss on his record with a D’Arce choke. The younger brother of atomweight champion Angela Lee was put to sleep.

In the heavyweight bout, Alain Alexandre Machado Ngalani forced to tap out in the second round due to massive hard shots he was taking on the ground. Machado could be the next challenger for Brandon Vera for the gold heavyweight strap.

The Filipino fighter Jimmy Yabo unfortunately went off-balance in the last two minutes of round three so Ma Jia Wen on top of him landed elbows and punches that the referee had to stopped the fight.

With Istela Nunes split decision win against Mei Yamaguchi, the female atomweight went unbeaten and will get a title shot. Angela Lee of course would be her next opponent.
