URCC 28: Vindication Was Arguably One Of The Best Fight Cards

URCC 28: Vindication was as BIGGEST BADDEST as I expected to be. The preliminary card bouts had action-packed and multiple finishes. Ref had to stop the fight as Mechavez pounded out Macaria via TKO (doctor stoppage) in round  two. Solomon Dultra also finished MJ Abrillo in the second round by way of submission. Drex Zamboanga climbed to the top of the cage celebrating for choking out Sem Bicaldo.
Do Gyeom Lee successfully defended his featherweight title vs. Ryan Dela Cruz. An elbow opened up a cut above Lee’s forehead and leg kicks rendered the Filipino’s left leg swollen. After the five rounds of back and forth, Lee was the winner by unanimous decision. Two warriors with plenty of motivations to get the win co-headlined the night. Both have all the makings for a great fight. CJ De Tomas with series of slams to the ground outwrestled Alvin Ramirez. Blood splattered on Ramirez from the knee to the head he gave to De Tomas. Kastigo had some great three rounds but slowed down. The flyweight championship still went to De Tomas by judges decision. A first round TKO win gave Geli Bulaong the first URCC female championship crown ever. She utilized some great ground and pound to put away Yan QiHui. Bulaong was confident and controlling that she landed some big shots and finished her Chinese opponent. Chris Hofmann’s knee dropped John Adajar before crunching his head with punches on the canvas. Holfmann claimed the middleweight strap with his second round TKO. He is now the URCC’s two-division champion. Both fighters stepped in on short notice to face each other.
The 3-on-3 match stole the show big time. It was one hell of an out war between Iyos Espinosa, John Rey Larena and team captain Arvin “Asintado” Chan vs. Mark Palomar, Patrick Dos Santos and team captain Panchito “Sugar Ray” Estroso. Team Estroso won the first ever 3 on 3 match in Asian MMA and URCC history. All six of the competitors nearly set off a brawl inside the cage.
Former flyweight champion Red Romero and Jiar Castillo were also victorious in this event. They went toe to toe for three rounds before they took the win by unanimous decision.

Bulaong has made an impressive debut last April 23, 2016 on URCC 27: Rebellion. She submitted Jen Damaso via a standing guillotine choke in just three minutes. Bulaong is currently a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is truly improving every single day as a well-rounded MMA fighter and is determined to face stiffer competition as she will face rising Chinese fighter, Yan Qi Hui. This fight will determine URCC’s first ever women’s flyweight champion!!!

She last fought on August 13 against Iranian fighter Masume at Chinese Kungfu Championships. QiHui took care of business and won via first round knockout. Now she is aiming to become the first Chinese URCC titlist and will face a hungry and promising fighter that will surely give her a challenge for the belt, and that is Geli Bulaong. History is going down. Preview: Chris Hofmann vs. John Adajar for the URCC Middleweight Championship

URCC 28: Vindication will feature four title bouts. Four warriors will cement and defend their place as the Champions of their divisions.

Featherweight title holder Do Gyeom Lee will go in war with Ryan Dela Cruz as the maint event. CJ ‘The Golden Boy’ De Tomas vs. Alvin ‘Kastigo’ Ramirez is the co-headliners of the night. The two will compete in a flyweight championship bout. Geli Bulaong will be fighting China’s Yan Xiao Nan in women’s flyweight in hopes for obtaining the first URCC female championship crown.

John Adajar and Chris Hofmann stepping up on a less than 30 days short notice. They will face off against each other for the vacant middleweight gold. One of the rising contenders will try to stop a champion who is riding the hottest streak of his career. This well rounded fighter will look to shock the crowd and become the middleweight champion. This will be no easy task when he takes on a light heavyweight champion. The heavy hand striker has finished four of his last opponents by TKO or knockout. Don’t blink fight fans because this is going to be action packed.

URCC Light Heavyweight Champion, Chris Hofmann looks to push his winning streak to five. He is back in training. The champ is getting ready for his upcoming title fight later this year. All four of Hofmann’s last fights inside the URCC cage were victorious. The newly-crowned champ, Hofmann is coming off back-to-back TKO wins as he recently won a huge TKO victory over the URCC veteran, Arvin “Asintado” Chan last  June 25 at URCC: Fight Night 1: Baron Geisler vs. Kiko Matos and also a TKO victory against the very tough, Caloy “Bad Boy” Baduria of Elorde MMA last April 23 at URCC 27: Rebellion for the vacant light heavyweight title. We will see whether or not the huge momentum he picked up with these fights continue on November. Hofmann is always seen training with fellow URCC fighter, Alvin Solinap, Jericho Tomagan and former URCC flyweight champ, Richard “The Dancing Devil” Lasprilla at the B.A.M.F MMA Center.

John “The Outlaw” Adajar is a promising up and comer on the URCC’s Welterweight Division, The Outlaw successfully made his URCC debut last June 25 against his long-time rival, Jericho Tomagan. The Outlaw has been a top contender ever since his days as an amateur, he was the reigning Welterweight fighter at the top Amateur MMA Circuit, Academy Fighting Championship that is headed by the URCC matchmaker, Ronald Catunao. After the fight, Adajar stated this “I just shut Tomagan’s mouth for 1min and 27 secs of the very 1st round”. He also stated in an online interview that this fight is just a warm-up for his title fight in the near future.

Outside the cage, The Outlaw of The Fitness Armory/Hitman Training Camp does part-time modelling and will not make you think that he is indeed a pro-athlete. Don’t let his good looks fool you though, ’cause this guy can whoop ass and look good. Inside or outside the cage. PLUS, he’s also the International Director of Sales of Century Properties. But, will he continue his winning ways or will Hofmann spoil it and hold a title in two different weight classes at the same time? Find out on URCC 28: Vindication, November 6 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Resorts World, Manila.

Preview: CJ De Tomas vs. Alvin Ramirez for the URCC Flyweight Championship

URCC 28: Vindication will feature four title bouts. Four warriors will cement and defend their place as the Champions of their divisions.
Featherweight title holder Do Gyeom Lee will go in a war with Ryan Dela Cruz as the maint event. CJ ‘The Golden Boy’ De Tomas vs. Alvin ‘Kastigo’ Ramirez is the co-headliners of the night. The two will compete in a flyweight championship bout. This match up between these fighters who have well rounded game is a sure-fire Fight of the Night. Both can do thang on the ground as well as stand up. De Tomas and Ramirez are both hungry so when they smell blood, they are going in for the finish.

19 year old Iloilo native, CJ ‘The Golden Boy’ De Tomas was crowned the new URCC Flyweight Champion by a unanimous decision win over Hideo ‘Death From Tokyo’ Morikawa just last April 23, 2016 at URCC 27: Rebellion. On top of that, he also avenged the loss of his father to Morikawa. Therefore, he fought his heart out. De Tomas was regarded as as Asia’s youngest champion by the majority of the organizing bodies for MMA here in Asia. He has an unblemished 6-0-0 record. CJ made his URCC debut at Dutdutan 2012.
When he decided to pursue a career in MMA, he already told himself that when he starts his career he should have a belt when he turn 18 yrs. old. And that by his early 20’s he hopes to get into the UFC(Ultimate Fighting Championship). Then, what happened was, he already won a belt when he was 18. But, it was on WLC(Warrior’s League Championship). CJ believes that the URCC is a proving ground with stacked competition and he thinks that this organization(URCC) will help him propel up in Asian MMA rankings and help him be noticed by his dream organization, the UFC(Ultimate Fighting Championship).
Early in his pro career, he truly wanted to be a pinweight champion in URCC. But, he got heavier and now he’s fighting at 129 lbs, flyweight division. He really wants to get in the UFC. But, you know what they say. “Everything begins with a single step that’s why I decided to start here in URCC.” The Golden Boy will defend his flyweight title for the first time next month when he takes on Alvin ‘Kastigo’ Ramirez. The Golden Boy will face another toughest test, Kastigo who has more than three times as many fights than him. Ramirez has yet to be finished by his opponents since making his pro debut seven years ago.

The challenger will finally get what he has been working so hard for, a shot at the Champ. Alvin “Kastigo” Ramirez is definitely a synonymous name when it comes to Philippine MMA, now the current #1 URCC Flyweight contender, Ramirez got his rank by beating flyweight star, Carlo “The Samurai” Laurel in their 3-round title contender bout also last April 23, 2016 at URCC 27: Rebellion. The Samurai was leading the scorecards during their fight due to relentless takedowns and amazing striking combinations. Then, once Kastigo got his groove on everything suddenly changed. Kastigo timed a high kick after a 1-2 towards the temple of Laurel and made a HUUUUUUGE cut that made a stream of blood come out of Laurel’s eyebrow. Kastigo’s confidence is at an all-time high because of his HUGE win against Carlo “The Samurai” Laurel and that he’s training back again here in the Philippines and reunited with his master, Coach Rey Yap. A former world champion kickboxer and has been leading Yaw-Yan Buhawi, a tight-knit martial arts team that produced championship-calibre fighters such as Eddie “Balong” Estrada and Jet Hermida just to name a few. Ramirez (7-8-0) may not have as stellar a record as De Tomas, but he definitely has the experience, the drive, the tenacity and he always comes to fight. With training camp or not, he’s always ready to go.
After failing to capture the then-vacant flyweight tile against Hideo Morikawa at URCC 26: Domination way back in 2015, Ramirez gets another crack at URCC gold against one of the promotion’s youngest up and coming star. Will he finally fulfill his destiny to be champion or will De Tomas remain the flyweight king? Have your say! Find out on URCC 28: Vindication, November 6 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Resorts World, Manila.

Preview: Do Gyeom Lee vs. Ryan Dela Cruz for the URCC Featherweight Championship

URCC 28: Vindication will feature four title bouts. Four warriors will cement and defend their place as the Champions of their divisions.
Do Gyeom Lee will go in a war with Ryan Dela Cruz for the featherweight championship bout as the main event. Two stand up fighters and both have the ability to knock people out. We see this battle is not going to a decision. These two guys will keep come forward to each other, put everything behind their punches to finish!
South Korean Do Gyeom Lee claimed URCC Featherweight title just last April 23, 2016 at URCC 27: Rebellion. He defeated Red Romero via TKO at 0:57 of round two. During their fight, Do Gyeom Lee survived a first round onslaught before dominating the second round and immediately dethroned the Filipino URCC champion, Red Romero in the URCC 27: Rebellion at the Marriott Grand Ballroom that night. The fight was almost over in the opening round after Romero took advantage of Lee’s slip to land a vicious flying left kick to the head. Romero then viciously pounded on the challenger but the Korean somehow managed to hold his ground and recovered after the bell rang.
The action was on different tune come the second round as Lee came out firing as if he didn’t sustain any damage at all!!! Kid Tornado connected on a barrage of punches to Romero’s head that caused the Filipino’s head bounce off the canvas. The standing southpaw, Kid Tornado tried a rushing 1-2-1 combination, with the third one connecting cleanly on Romero. Red backed up, trying to feint the damage done by Lee, but Lee smelled blood and went after him. Combining unrelenting strikes with vicious knees, Lee caught Romero with at least two knees, causing Romero to crumble onto the mat. Stepping over his visibly hurt opponent and raining down 6, 7, 8 unanswered strikes, referee Joey Lepiten had to call a stop to the contest, declaring Lee as the new URCC featherweight champion at o:57 seconds of the very first round. WHAT A COMEBACK!!!! Then, after that fight… The BK Wang Ho fighter became the promotion’s new Featherweight(145 lbs.) king in only his second appearance in the promotion.
In Do Gyeom Lee’s first URCC appearance, he got an upset victory over crowd favorite Drex Zamboanga with a TKO via referee stoppage at URCC 26: Domination.
The South Korean champion (2-1-0) will defend his belt against a tough Hawaiian challenger, Ryan Dela Cruz(5-2-0).
Ryan Dela Cruz is the current Destiny MMA Featherweight World Champion and is carrying a (5-2-0) MMA record. Two losses were by submission. He will debut inside the URCC cage and is excited to make a statement by challenging the young and current URCC Featherweight champion, Do Gyeom Lee. His deep experience in amateur bouts can also make the difference.
Dela Cruz is a well-rounded and explosive MMA fighter that is well-versed good stand-up specialist. Four of his last wins are by KO/TKO. So, expect a finish because this guy wants a brand new belt for his budding MMA career.
Watch as Hawaii-based Filipino-Spanish Ryan Dela Cruz is looking to get back in the win column and guns for URCC Featherweight gold  when he challenges Do Gyeom Lee. ‘Kid Tornado’ is ready for his first title defense. Two strikers go head to head at URCC 28: Vindication, November 6 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Resorts World, Manila.
