Ginebra with a chance to tie with TNT after beating Phoenix

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel continues their winning streak as they send Phoenix home with a win. Phoenix tried to survive another day to make it to a wildcard phase and get the final spot in the top 8 of the post season conference.

Ginebra dominated the 1st half establishing a huge gap against the Fuel Masters while Phoenix played catch up during these quarters. Justin Brownlee who is consistently showing an excellent job in contributing figures in multiple departments continues his mission along side rookie Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio.

Phoenix made a run during the pay off period as they brought down the lead down to 5 but eventually losing control again in the 1st part and regaining the same gap at the later part of the game. Eugene Phelps tried to salvage a win but he just cannot match his usual performance because of the Ginebra frontliners are giving him a hard time in the paint.

Ginebra is now has 8 wins and 2 losses and will face TNT  Katropa on sunday September 18 at Biñan, Laguna who is currently at the top of the standings at 9-1. A win against the TNT katropa will give them both a 9-2 ranking at the end of the eliminations and will be decided via quotient system. If Ginebra wins on Sunday they have a chance to get the 1st spot in the top 4 and might face the number 8 seed team which will be official in the next few games between ALASKA,  NLEX, PHOENIX and RAIN OR SHINE.

Former LA Lakers Forward and Ginebra Import, Josh Powell on Ginebra’s Current Performance

We all know that Ginebra is off to a good start in the current PBA conference. Having the perfect import to join them during these wins have been a  blessing for the squad and its been a long time since they had such a great stint in a conference.

Josh Powell, a former Los Angeles Lakers forward, who played along side Kobe Bryant in the NBA and also had alot of stints with other NBA teams showed some support to his former PBA team, Ginebra. Powell played a couple of games with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel before grabbing an opportunity to play again in the NBA with Houston Rockets together with Dwight Howard.

I personally got a chance to have a conversation with him via his twitter account and asked him about his message to the Ginebra team regarding their good start in this conference that might finally end their title drought.

Ginebra will be facing another huge rock on their way to the playoffs as they go against their long time rival Star Hotshots in a manila clasico showdown on Sunday, August 28 at the Araneta Coliseum.

LA tenorio and the rest of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel squad struggled during the first quarter as they were outscored by the Blackwater Elite. Gin Kings, found their way back in the driver seat in the 2nd quarter as Justin Brownlee started to gain its tempo with points coming from the rest of their starting lineup with the help of their second stringers Dave Marcelo and Aljon Mariano.

Blackwater Elite still proves they deserve a win over the Kings, with the help of Carlo Lastimosa and their import Dawson as they try to get back on track and get the lead back but the Ginebra’s starters are still in full offensive mode as they maintain their lead at the end of the 2nd quarter.

Justin Brownlee banks his treys after the second half finally making it from downtown. LA tenorio also buried treys extending their lead at the 2nd half with as much as 16 points.
Smooth offense have been displayed by Ginebra as most of their players made baskets and also displayed excellent defensive stops led by Japeth Aguilar listing multiple blocks.

LA tenorio was chosen as the best player of the game with 23 points  but Justin Brownlee listed a huge 27 points while Aguilar also contributed with double figures with 19 points.

Is this Ginebra’s Time? The Commissioner’s Cup Prediction

Many are waiting, many have hoped and still hoping for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Franchise to get the crown again. Basketball fans already witnessed the greatness of their sister teams, Star Hotshots who already got a grandslam title across their record while the San Miguel Beermen have already won multiple titles in the previous Conferences. What are the chances that its Ginebra’s turn this time?
In the current roster of the crowd favorite, we can bluntly say that they can go to the finals and even win a championship. So why can’t they? Some sports analysts said that this is the right season for ginebra, a three conference stint. They failed the 1st conference and its given because they are a newly built squad, from the players to the coaching staff to a new offensive approach. Ginebra is not only trying to be familiar with their new system but also the chemistry. Now that they’re about 70% from perfecting the triangle and the chemistry we can all say that they’re ready to get that crown.
Coach Tim Cone already asked for the fans to be patient enough cause it is going to be a long ride to getting better. And in one game where Tim Cone sat down as one of the commentators in the recently held finals, he said that he wouldn’t be there with the PBA commentators next Championship series, cause Ginebra will be in the finals. A short phrase but it is evident that the PBA’s winningest coach already has confidence in the team that they can make it this time.
