Gennady Golovkin Wants Immediate Rematch, If Not, he will fight Miguel Cotto

Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez Fight Was Great But It Did Not Answer the Big Question

Who is the better fighter that night?

Let’s start by mentioning the controversial yet official scorecard that night.

Dave Moretti: Golovkin 115- 113
Don Trella: Draw 114 – 114
Adalaide Byrd:  118 -110 (cringe-worthy)

There is a lot to talk about in the scorecard but we are not here to dwell on things that can’t be changed. We know the Adalaide Byrd already got warm, I mean really warm with heated greetings from the internet right after her despicable scoring, so let’s leave her alone for the moment.
On the post-fight press conference, a rematch was obviously part of the discussion and today it looks like they already scheduled a meeting to sit down and talk in details. Canelo Alvarez has a rematch clause in the contract so he will not have any issues getting Golovkin back inside the ring. However, if he chooses not to get in with the Kazakh fighter again then Golovkin’s team would need to find another opponent for his next fight.
Gennady Golovkin at 35 years old isn’t exactly young and every month counts. His record now stands at 37 wins with no defeats and 1 draw.  Golovkin’s camp is eager to make the rematch and they want to make it happen on Cinco De Mayo next year (May 5, 2018). If an agreement will be made between the two prized fighters, Gennady would rest the remaining of the year until their anticipated rematch.
If it fails, Gennady’s camp is ready to take on another fight and they won’t wait for a long time to get back in the ring. According to sources,  Miguel Cotto the Puertorican boxing superstar who allegedly intended to have his retirement fight at 36 years of age would like to challenge Gennady for his titles and Gennady’s camp looks to be interested. If  Canelo-Golovkin rematch will not be agreed upon then a Cotto-Golovkin match might happen this December.
While the fight between Cotto and Golovkin would be interesting, the boxing fans who demanded the Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin fight did not actually get the closure they wanted to get. And while most would agree that the fight was an epic battle between two of the best middleweights right now, it did not really answer anything as the fans are were just left salivating for more and would like to see the 13th round to maybe up to 24 rounds for the two middleweights to settle who truly is the best of the best.

Canelo vs Golovkin Predictions: I am going with…. Lets Watch the Fighters and Media Predictions

The boxing match of the year: Alvarez vs Golovkin

 Canelo vs Golovkin Predictions:
Canelo Alvarez ( 49W – 1L- 1D) vs Gennady Golovkin(37W- 0L- OD)

I get excited every time there is a good boxing match and I think this is the first time that I may be as thrilled as if I am watching a Manny Pacquiao fight.

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin have the right ingredients that could make up an epic fight and the boxing nation agrees. This maybe the best boxing match up of the year and we have the promoter to thank for making the fight happen now and not letting the fans wait. Oscar Dela Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions delivered as promised as both fighters are set to meet on September 16.
We are expecting the fighters to bring out the best against each other in a spectacular showdown that may have split boxing aficionados in equal half. I am a fan of both boxers and in most cases, I will usually have a definite choice on who I think would win or who I want to win but in this case, I just could not choose which side to root for.
Both fighters are special in their own ways and it’s hard to predict who would end up on top as both never faced a fighter like each other.
Gennady Golovkin at 35 years old looks stronger and more aggressive and he has shown his smashing power against every opponent he faced. Canelo, on the other hand, is in his prime at 27 and he looks like the better boxer and can win if he chooses to box with Golovkin, but that might be far from happening as Canelo himself declared in different interviews that he will try to stop Golovkin.

Both fighters want to impress the boxing world

My Prediction would be a knockout, someone is going down, my problem is, I do not know who it’s going to be.
The real winner of this fight is the fans and I can guarantee that the boxing fans will go home talking about this fight for a long time.
Let’s take a look at what other fighters, media, and fans think of the fight. Watch the Canelo vs Golovkin Predictions compilation video below.

Canelo Only Wants WBA and IBF Titles When He Fights GGG on Sept 16

Canelo Alvarez is refusing to fight for the WBC Middleweight world title when he faces Gennady Golovkin on September 16th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo announced that he will challenge Golovkin for his WBA and IBF world titles and he will also put his Lineal and Ring Magazine Middleweight world title on the line. Canelo Alvarez is not also interested for GGG’s IBO world title.
“I am very proud to be fighting for these important titles in this fight,” Alvarez said to

“This will be the best boxing event of the year, and I know all of the fans from Mexico and beyond will come out and enjoy the fight as I defend my lineal and Ring magazine titles and take home the WBA and IBF championships.”
Golovkin immediately reacted to statement of Golovkin and said that he is the proud owner and champion of WBC.WBA,IBF and IBO world title belts and will defend each of them with pride in Las Vegas.
If Canelo wins he will only take home the WBA and IBF world titles while the WBC and IBO titles will become vacant if he is serious about his statement.

Errol Spence Jr Backs Canelo to Beat Golovkin

Reigning IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr backs Canelo to beat Golovkin as he believes that Canelo is too fast and too active for GGG.
“I’m going for Canelo. I think Canelo is faster. I think fundamentally he throws more punches, even though they are in spurts, he throws punches from different angles. He just lets his hands go more than Triple G. I feel like Triple G throws only one shot at a time. I feel like Canelo is going to press the issue and win,” Spence told
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is slated to fight on September 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA world Middleweight title is on the line.

Jermell Charlo Backs GGG to Win Over Canelo

L-Jermall Charlo R-Jermell Charlo

WBC world super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo backs Gennady Golovkin ahead of GGG’s fight with Canelo Alvarez on Sept.16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with WBC/WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Middleweight Titles on the line. And believes that Canelo avoided him and his brother Jermall.

“I am rocking with Triple G right now because Canelo avoided us. He has been avoiding me and my brother. He knows he was supposed to be at ’54. He made ’55 for like two years. I am fine with that. So stay at ’60 because I got someone to chase you there too,” Jermell said

He also believes that his twin brother Jermall could give Golovkin a good fight. Jermall Charlo is the former IBF super welterweight champion he defended the title thrice then decided to move up in Middleweight and fight some big names in the division.

“It is going to be a good fight with my brother. My brother can box and can move. He is really crafty in the ring and is going to bring more than what Danny Jacobs brought for sure,” told Jermell to Ryan Burton

Canelo, GGG And Oscar De La Hoya Talks as to Why Their Fight is Better than Floyd vs Connor

Real hardcore boxing fans know how to differentiate a show between a boxing match and the middleweight clash between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is what the boxing community really needs.
Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin and Oscar De La Hoya join First Take to talk about their upcoming boxing fight set for September 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo vs GGG: Ripping a Page from Pacquiao-Mayweather Playbook?

Quick to make up for an uneventful main attraction to a stacked fight card, Golden Boy Promotions pulled of a maverick of sorts in a WWE like manner.
On the aftermath of a one-sided beating inflicted by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvares(49-1-1 34 KOs) on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(50-3-1 32 KOs), everyone expecting a routinary post fight interview was treated for a big surprise. HBO panelist, Max Kellerman asked a question that caught everyone off-guard:
“We have been told that there is a plan in place for your next opponent, who is it?” Kellerman asked. “Golovkin, you’re next my friend!”. Canelo responded.
Gennady Golovkin(37-0 33 KOs), earlier seen watching from the ringside was suddenly nowhere to be found. All the lights then went off with loud cheers drowning the rock music of a teaser on the big screen, GGG was then shown storming out of the dugout escorted by security to face Canelo in the ring.
Minus the fireworks and fancy costumes, a mega-fight between two of boxing’s current stars was announced for September.
Quick History

Before the fight was conceived, both camps traded barbs at each other for the past couple of years. Since 2014, Golovkin has been calling out known middleweights like Miguel Cotto, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul Alvarez. Among the three, only Canelo has responded decisively to GGG’s challenge, but not before questioning the caliber of opponents the latter has previously faced. Since then, lengthy rounds of negotiations ensued, none came to fruition.  Often blaming the other for the fight not pushing through, both accused each other of screwing the negotiations and ducking. Canelo took much of the criticisms when he vacated his WBC Middleweight belt with GGG as his mandatory challenger, thus adding to the rumor of him avoiding a fight with the Kazakh.
A Proven Successful Business Blueprint

Not so long ago, two boxers also featured in a much publicized affair. Most of the jabs and punches came through social media and media interviews that lasted for six years. In that duration, interest built increasingly with the media writing almost everything about the anticipated much up between two of the best fighters of their generation pound for pound. In May 2015, they finally met in the ring in what was dubbed as “The Fight of the Century”. The event shattered all-time revenue records and gave the boxers the biggest payday of their entire careers in a 36-minute show. Those two boxers are Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, two of the most financially successful boxers of their generation.
Witnessing how the events unfolded in the buildup to the super fight, one can’t help but ask, were the negotiations and hype intentionally prolonged to maximize the potential profit of the fight?

The same question is also being asked in the wake of another mega fight between Canelo and GGG in September. Did they follow the same blue print? Maybe. This fight is currently the most profitable product the industry can sell with the fight at the height of public interest. Of course, that’s discounting the possibility of Floyd coming out of retirement to fight UFC star Connor McGregor in a boxing match. With all the drama and hype, plus the impeccable timing of the announcement of the fight, the bout has all the makings of a classic, thus, drawing parallels with the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight build up. The real question is, will the fighters also follow the blueprint of the fight itself? If so, you might just have to wake me up when September ends.

Watch: Canelo’s Message to his Next Opponent, GGG

Before the Canelo-Chavez fight took place, there was a lot of mocking and smack talking between this two great Mexican boxers as to who will be crowned as the newest king of Mexican Boxing in their annual Cinco de Mayo boxing tradition.

However, Canelo said in an interview that he never felt any hatred against his current contender Julio Chavez Jr because he took it as an extra motivation to show that he can box, he can move and he wanted to prove he can also do anything that a bigger and stronger boxer can do. He demonstrated this when he defeated Chavez Jr via unanimous decision. He also said that he is a bit disappointed on how Chavez Jr performed during their last match because he didn’t meet Canelo’s expectation at all and it’s not something to be considered as great and historic fight.

I’ve never feared anyone, since I was 16 fighting as a professional. When I was born, fear was gone…” Canelo states in an interview when asked about what can he say to those people who criticized him for not considering Golovkin to become his opponent for the longest time.

During an interview after his fight against Chavez Jr, Canelo finally announced that his next boxing fight will be with Gennady Golovkin, commonly known as the “Triple G”. Golovkin and Canelo are both excited with their bout this upcoming September. They say that to be able to beat Golovkin, Canelo needs to exert extra effort and show everything that the public haven’t seen yet. Though Canelo explains that he’s already working on that and he stated he getting better and better every day and the rival between Golovkin will be the way to show what he has to offer.

The said bout will become the Biggest Mexican Showdown in the history.

So who’s your bet?

Canelo Won the "BATTLE FOR MEXICO" Against Chavez Jr.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez just won the battle of Mexico against fellow Mexican warrior Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by the way of shutout unanimous decision win earlier at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo Alvarez (49-1-1,34) was dominant throughout the fight and dictated every round against much taller but slower Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (50-3-1,32) by throwing jabs and different combinations to the body and head of Chavez Jr. Canelo was obviously the more aggressive fighter of the two while Chavez Jr looks cautious in this fight but still his eye was badly swollen.
After winning the fight Canelo Alvarez invited Gennady “GGG” Golovkin into the ring and announced the most awaited Middleweight Championship fight on September 16.
