Barangay Ginebra San Miguel once again took that game away from Star as they come back from a huge deficit. Scottie Thompson, one of the key players who made their come back possible had an impressive night, dishing key passes that made all of his teammates involved in their successful offensive execution.
“He did a spectacular job” Cone stressed in the post game interview.
Justin Brownlee, the man who made that key shot in Ginebra’s championship campaign last season proves his worth in the crowd darling’s line up after making another epic performance against the undefeated Star Hotshots.
The Ginebra hero in last Season’s governors’ cup contributed an impressive 30 point performance with 15 boards output that left the most winningest coach impressed.
“Justin causes alot of problem to alot of people, you know he can play in and out, make great passes he’s a great defender, and we kinda see him play how we envisioned him playing” Cone said on how they were able to beat star though they’re parading a small reinforcement in the conference.
Ginebra gives the Star Hotshots their first loss in the conference, in another successful come from behind win bringing them up a notch in the standings with 2 wins and a loss.

Getting used to seeing the skyscrapers to dominate the boards, this one’s rare. A 6 foot to 6 foot 1 guard has been welcomed in the top players in the rebounding department.
Earl Scottie Thompson a Barangay Ginebra San Miguel sophomore just got into the list of the players with most number of rebounds per game averaging 10 boards in each outing.
People are surprised event non-ginebra fanatics with the way this young guard manages to get the ball off the hands of taller players inside the paint. The “nose-for-the-ball” like what Tim Cone has mentioned in most of his post-game interviews is the gift that this University of Perpetual Help cager has that he compared to his former guard Johnny Abarrientos.
With the absence of their big man Greg Slaughter, filling up those stats in the record book for Ginebra is a big help for the Gin Kings especially for Japeth Aguilar who is now considered to be the focal point of Ginebra’s offense. With the ability of Scottie Thompson combined with Aguilar’s defensive style is another break through for Cone as he tries to get another Championship with this team.
Japeth Aguilar who scored a career-high of 32 points in their manila clasico outing last Christmas day has been a result of him not worrying and not hesitating to take those jumpers as he knows he got some folks that can grab the second chance boards for his team like Joe Devance, Aljon Mariano and their other front liners.
Scottie Thompson is now in the top ten players in terms of rebounds per game along side the other teams’ Frontliners such as Junmar Fajardo.
As the PBA management expects another blockbuster Christmas Manila Clasico showdown, another treat is coming your way as the PBA is set to provide bus rides for the ticket holders to Bocaue, Bulacan – Philippine Arena.
With the previous gate attendance recorded in the same venue of the manila clasico who listed 52,612, highest number of attendees ever in the pro league, the PBA anticipated that this can be a repeat or even surpass the current record considering a big venue that can accommodate an estimated 55,000 seats.
PBA officials confirmed that they’re in talks with the biggest bus companies in Manila and buses are all ready for the Christmas games. Cubao and Buendia are the two confirmed pick up points by the management but has yet to finalize the process.
But this development will attract a lot of fans to treat their families in another history in the making game between the two league Giants of SMC. This double header game will be sparked up by the two expansion teams who came in the league last 2014. Blackwater and Mahindra will face each other in the first game to ignite the crowd as they wait for the main event of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Star Hotshots.
Can’t get enough of the holiday treats? Here’s another one!
PBA is going to put up another entertaining Christmas showdown, as they bring the Manila Clasico rivalry on Christmas Day. As another season unfolds, the PBA board decided to bring this another historic match up in Philippine Arena.
With Star hotshots currently having difficulties in trying to fit into Coach Chito’s system, and Ginebra also struggling when it comes to their consistency, this game will be another test for each squad as they fight for a win in front of an estimated 50,000 crowd of PBA faithfuls.
Every Manila Clasico showdown is historic, that makes each upcoming Ginebra-Star game a highly anticipated event as PBA try to bring the best basketball games to the fans, the management has decided to accommodate more fans on this day by getting a bigger venue that also held the most number of gate attendance in the history of the league in the past Manila Clasico match up conference opener which has recorded a total of 52,612 fans.

Staring at 17 point deficit midway of the 1st half, Ginebra composed themselves at the second half and unleashed a big comeback to frustrate the Star Hotshot anew.
The first half is all about Star dominance with the help of their import, Joel Wright and good contribution by their bench players. But the Gin Kings finally awakens in the third canto and took the lead, 78-76 after the frame.
The pivotal point of the game was the opening salvo of the final quarter which Jervy Cruz dominated and scored 6 straight points to give Ginebra a comfortable lead. And since then, it was all about Ginebra.
