Our very own and TUF alumni Phillipe Nover fell short. The former UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao outscored him with takedowns. But props to the Filipino Assassin for trying. He was able to got up from the multiple submission attempts.

The heavyweight bout went controversial when Roy Nelson kicked referee John McCarthy after he knocked Silva out with his uppercut and ground-and-pound. Nelson reportedly was upset with McCarthy’s late stoppage.

Phillipe Nover Returns To The Octagon! The Filipino Assassin Is Back and Ready!

One of the few Filipinos who stands in the UFC octagon and makes every Filipino proud is Phillipe Nover. He was born and raised to Brooklyn into Filipino and American parents. He is also a registered cardiac cath nurse beyond the octagon.

Phillipe is a former Ring of Combat lightweight champion and is a product of The Ultimate Fighter. He reached the Ultimate Finale on December 13, 2008. Efrain Escudero defeated Nover though via unanimous decision. He has fought on other promotion such as Bellator for two years.

On May 16, 2015 at UFC Fight Night 66: Edgar vs. Faber in Manila, Nover made his come back to the organization and won against Yui Chul Nam by split decision in a featherweight bout.

I am very excited for ‘The Filipino Assassin’ and I thank UFC for he would go against his biggest opponent of the competition so far. And there to test our very own Phillipe Nover is the former UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao on Sept 24 at UFC Fight Night 95: Cristiane Justino vs Lina Lansberg in Brasília, Brazil.

Now what would you expect with these two black belt in BJJ? Superior ground game will be on display, going for submissions.  Slam and takedowns to score for the three rounds of the co-main event.
