Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen at the Beautifully Renovated The Forum

SANTA MONICA, CALIF – It’s a fight that many mixed martial arts fans thought they’d never see, but on January 21, 2017, both Tito Ortiz (18-12-1) and Chael Sonnen (28-14-1) will return to action inside the beautifully renovated Forum in Inglewood, Calif., to headline “Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen.” In college, the two met on the wrestling mat, in a matchup that Sonnen won by pinning Ortiz on his birthday. Now, Ortiz will have the opportunity to avenge that loss when the compete in the Bellator MMA cage on SPIKE.

The co-main card features the Bellator MMA debut of Ralek Gracie who takes on dangerous striker Hisaki Kato in a middleweight bout.

A 54-fight veteran of MMA Daley will now prepare to take on surging superstar Brennan Ward. “Semtex” has recorded victories in nine of his last 11 bouts, and took current welterweight champion Douglas Lima to the limit in their last meeting. Ward enters the contest following a brutal knockout blow that he delivered just 1:26 into his bout with Saad Awad at “Bellator 163: McGeary vs. Davis.” The win was Ward’s ninth under the direction of Bellator MMA and fifth of his last six fights, dating back to 2015.

The stacked main card ohas added even more ammo to its arsenal with the news that Derek Campos (17-6) and Derek Anderson (14-2, 1 NC) will compete in a lightweight feature fight. Chinzo Machida (4-2), Henry Corrales (12-3), and Guilherme “Bomba” (8-3) are equally enticing preliminary offering.

Limited tickets for the mega-event start at $36 and are on sale at Bellator.com, as well as Ticketmaster.com. The event will be broadcast live and free on SPIKE at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. Shaquille O’Neal Will Be Formally Inducted into Hall of Fame Alongside Allen Iverson and Yao Ming

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will welcome three new members on Friday at the Induction Ceremony in Springfield, Massachusetts. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm ET and it will be aired live on NBA TV.

The presenters are as follows:

Shaquille O’Neal will be presented by Julius Erving (class of ’93), Alonzo Mourning (’14), Bill Russell (’75), Isiah Thomas (00)

Allen Iverson will be presented by Larry Brown (’02), Julius Erving (’93), John Thompson (’99)
