Dasmarinas currently ranked 12th best boxer in the world by WBC, will go up against French boxer Karim Guerfi, who is currently ranked 4th by WBC.  The fight is also touted by the Singapore promoter as the main event of the evening and will draw much international attention to the Camarines Sur-native.
Dasmarinas had an impressive win and KO’d his Thai opponent Phupha Por Nobnom, during the 2nd round of his match, at Ringstar’s ‘Roar of Singapore III – The Chosen Wan’, last October 20, 2017, at the Suntec Convention Center, a win which gave way for this world title match.
(I am happy that I am being given this opportunity by Ringstar to show my talent as a Filipino boxer.  I am now training continuously, so that I can win this IBO world title bout.  Please join me in praying, so that we can win.  My win, will also be a win for the Philippines.)
Ringstar Boxing Founder & CEO Scott Farrel, on the other hand, says, “This is potentially one of the fight of the year nominees for 2018.  Michael Dasmarinas WBC ranked 12 vs. Karim Guerif WBC ranked 4, will be a real war which both the Philippine and French boxing fans would love to see.  Ringstar is all about a neutral fight platform, giving a genuine unbiased opportunity for both these great fighters to lift the IBO world title.”
Farrel continues, “If Dasmarinas is successful in this fight, he will be catapulted into the top 10, and in line to face the current great champions of the bantamweight division.  He has the chance now to move forward and aim for greatness, like what his country’s very own hero Manny Pacquiao has achieved.  I wish both fighters the best of luck, and I look forward to promoting this fight.  This fight is a must-watch for all boxing fans, we have a Filipino boxer vs. a French boxer headlining a Singapore event, going head-to-head for the biggest fight night of their lives, with the IBO world title at stake.”
For 2018, Ringstar is set to bring its live events across Asia – China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines included.  While for 2019, Ringstar plans to do a minimum of ten shows per year and have a combined viewing audience of over 1 billion viewers, making it Asia’s top fight media property.

Pinoy Boxer Michael Dasmarinas Wins at Suntec Singapore at his Debut Fight for Ringstar Boxing

SINGAPORE, 22 October 2017 –  Filipino boxer Michael “Hot & Spicy” Dasmarinas, lived up to his monicker and spiced up the evening at Ringstar Boxing’s ‘The Roar of Singapore III’, held at Suntec Convention & Exhibition in Singapore last weekend.
Michael knocked out his Thai opponent, Phupha Por Nobnom, in the second round of the supposed 6-round IBO undercard bantamweight division fight.
Dasmarinas says, “I am thankful to all those who helped me win this fight.  To my friends, manager, my family, thank you to all of you.  This is for all of you.”
Michael’s story of hardships as a young child were shared previously in Philippine media and got him a lot of attention, with CNN Philippines Anchor Mico Halili, even suggesting that his next monicker as he becomes a bigger fighter should be “Gloves on Fire”, since he had a story that his gloves were burned when he was 9-years old by a family member, who did not want him to get into the sport which is ironically, his bread and butter now.
With this with, Michael’s next bout will be a world title fight in 2018.
Ringstar Founder and CEO Scott Farrell says, “He is ‘Hot and Spicy’, but I also like the new proposed name ‘Gloves on Fire’.  Michael is a great boxer and world class.  I am going to help him to be one of the best in the world.  Under Ringstar Promotion, he will become a world champion in 2018.”
Favored Singaporean boxer Muhamad “The Chosen Wan” Ridhwan on the other hand, whose fight against Namibian Nataniel Sebastian, became truly the most exciting fight of the night, with 12 rounds of aggressive back and forth of both fighters.  Both of whom before entering the ring were undefeated, Ridhwan with a 8-0 record and Sebastian with a previous 9-0 record before the night ended.
Trash talking also took place at the press conference two days before the fight, with Ridhwan, the more confident of the two, even slamming Sebastian’s fight record.
Ridhwan received a unanimous decision from the three judges, with a score of 115-113, 115-113 and 115-114.
Asked if he was surprised with Sebastian’s ability to sustain the 12 rounds, Ridhwan says, “I neutralized that, he couldn’t fight in the middle, that’s why I took control of the punches.  He pushed the limits though, he brought it to 12 rounds, but I’ve been there before.  I’ve been there in training.  It was a good test.  We learn from this, we are just going to grow stronger and better.”
Ringstar’s Founder and CEO Scott Farrell also announced at the end of the evening, that Ringstar will be back in February 2018 in Dalian, China, then April again in Singapore.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 27 September 2017 – Up-and-coming Filipino boxer Michael “Hot & Spicy” Dasmarinas, is all set for his boxing debut for Singapore-based sports management and boxing promotions outfit, RingStar Boxing.  His fight is set to take place on October 20 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, for the much-anticipated ‘The Roar of Singapore III – The Chosen Wan’.
The IBO undercard bantamweight division fight will see Dasmarinas go up against a newly announced Thai opponent, Phupha Por Nobnom.
The 25-year old Dasmarinas, who has a record of 25-2, who was also the former WBC World Youth Super Flyweight champion, recounted how he had to fight for his passion for boxing while growing up.
When he was 9-years old, a family member burned his boxing gloves, just so he would give up the sport.  He was also bullied and was told that he would never make it as a boxer because he was thin and frail-looking.
But he persevered and was guided by a cousin who was an amateur boxer that time and proved that this was his calling.  He was also inspired by world-renowned Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.
In fact, it was because of this sport that he was able to obtain a high school scholarship, and thus, was able to graduate.
This Camarines Sur native who is the 9th of 11 siblings, also shared how trying his growing up years was financially.  He, in fact, recounted, how happy he was with the first income he made from boxing, which was a mere P200.00.

Dasmarinas says, “Masaya na ako noon sa halaga na iyon, maski papaano kumita ako ng pera.  Naging inspirasyon ko ito para ipagpatuloy ang boxing.  (I was happy I made that amount of money.  It became my inspiration to carry on and pursue the sport of boxing).

And when he started winning more fights, he realized that this was what he was called to do, so he kept on.
Dasmarinas is excited that this will be his debut fight for RingStar, which gave him a 3-year contract.

Apart from his fight purse, he will also receive a percentage of endorsements and sponsorship from RingStar’s sponsor – Cellmaxx, a sponsorship deal which the promotions outfit recently concluded.

Dasmarinas says, “Handa na po ako para sa laban ko sa Singapore.  Sana po suportahan po ito ng mga kababayan nating Pilipino, lalo na yun mga nasa Singapore.”  (I am ready for my fight in Singapore.  I hope my fellow Filipinos can support me, specially those who are based in Singapore.)
Sanctioned by the International Boxing Organization (IBO), The Roar of Singapore III will take place on Friday, 20th October, 2017 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.
