By the Numbers: Hawks Stun Cavs

Cavs drop 5 of last 6 games

LeBron James could only sigh as his team came up short against the Hawks.
A few days ago, LeBron James ended the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 4-game losing streak by scoring a franchise record-tying 57 points against the Washington Wizards.
That performance also enabled the King to become the youngest NBA player to reach 29,0000 career points- a record that was previously held by Kobe Bryant. The Cavs thought that their win against the Wizards will be the start of better things for the team.
Unfortunately, they were wrong.
Dennis Schroder scored on a pair of charities with 12 seconds left and right after Isaiah Taylor missed a pair of free throws, LeBron James grabbed the rebound but Channing Frye missed on a three-point attempt and Dwayne Wade missed another attempt as the Atlanta Hawks held on for the 117-115 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This latest loss dropped the Cavs to 4-6 while the Hawks finally broke out of their 8-game losing streak and improved to 2-8 in the season.
So what doomed the Cavs in the first place? Below are the numbers:

Balance Scoring from the Hawks

Atlanta got contributions from 7 players who scored in double figures. Schroder led the way with 28 points while Tayshaun Prince and Luke Babbit scored 17 points apiece. Dewayne Dedmon had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks while Ken Bazemore added 14 points 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Off the bench, the Hawks got 12 points and 13 rebounds from John Collins and, 14 points from Isaiah Taylor.
On the other side, the Cavs’ starters could only manage 51 points- highlighted by LeBron James’ 26 points. The only thing that kept Cleveland in the game was the production of the bench which got  25 points from Dwayne Wade and 23 points from Kyle Korver.
You see the irony? The Cavs have more star power and yet they lost to another mediocre team.

The Hawks Got More from Rainbow Country

While the Cavs were almost blacked out from the three-point line as evident by their 10 of 36 performance from beyond the arc- including a 0 of 3 shooting from the King himself, the Hawks made 11 of their 25 attempts from deep. Luke Babbit took 8 shots from outside and made half of those attempts. Tayshaun Prince added three more long bombs.
The Cavs on the other hand? If not to Kyle Korver’s 5 of 11 shooting from the three-point area, the Cavs would have been blown away. Among the Cavs’ starters, only JR Smith managed to hit his targets from deep, hitting 2 of his 4 attempts from that area.

With this latest setback, Cavs Coach Tyronn Lue might want to check his back because he wouldn’t be coaching for long if the Cavs doesn’t improve as soon as possible. And if the Cavs doesn’t improve soon, it might only strengthen the possibilities of LeBron James leaving for elsewhere next season.
For the Hawks, it’s still early for their fans to quit because given the fact that they’ve already beaten a “super team“, it shows that yes, they can beat any team. They only need to do what they did against the Cavs, consistently.

Crabbe Sizzles 20 Points off the Bench: Nets on Win Number Two

Allen Crabbe

With 26 minutes of play off the bench, Allen Crabbe played huge to lead Brooklyn Nets to victory against Atlanta Hawks, together with Demarre Caroll with 17 points and D’Angelo Russell’s 16 pts, 10 assist double-double.
Ersan Ilyasova opened up the 1st bout with 5 straight points to resist Nets’ homecourt advantage but Nets did not want the Hawks to easily break away, pushing the deadlock at 11 and eventually breaking it by Allen Crabbe’s three pointer. Nevertheless, the Hawks held on to a slim lead at the end of the 1st 25-19.
Another deadlock of the game at 32 forced by Timofey Mozgov followed by his own monster jam to take the lead back.
The nets turned the tables slightly on their side, up by 3 points at the half 56-53.

3rd quarter breakaway by the home team nets as D’Angelo Russell dished out assists to loosen the team’s offensive viscosity. The Nets are up ahead 91-77 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Hawks tried to establish an immediate comeback at the start of the final quarter with Malcolm Delaney’s and Marco Belinelli’s three pointers, bringing them as close as 85-93.
The hawks ain’t done yet, showing more aggression to the rim, Kent Bazemore and Dennis Schroder draw fouls and made freethrows. Schroder makes a 20 feet jumper to chop down the lead down to a single possession 95-98 with 6 minutes to play. Hawks had taken the lead as the game approaches the final 5 minutes by Belinelli’s stepback jumper and they are up ahead by a single point 100-99 and calling a timeout to even tighten their final push.
But things weren’t as much as they expected, Hawks burned a timeout but it was the Nets who came off the timeout with a blaze, Crabble delivers from beyond the arc to start an 8-0 run. Hawks run out of steam to set another comeback and finally collapsed. 116-104.

Nets 116 – Caroll 17, Russell 16, leVert 16, Hollis-Jefferson 9, Mozgov 6, bench – 52

Hawks 104 – Schroder 17, Bazemore 16, Prince 9, Ilyasova 9, Dedmon 7, bench – 46

Deep Bench Armada: Dallas Mavericks Second Unit Explosion

How about the performance of Maverick’s Players off the bench? Pretty rough for their foe to keep them under control.

Dwight Powell #7
Dallas Mavericks hunted down the Atlanta Hawks 108-94 for their 4th preseason win. This victory was huge especially for the Dallas bench players as they even outshone their starters point production. A good sign for the team will have even more firepower to rely on with every match.
Maximillian Kleber, PJ Dozier, Maalik Wayns, and Gian Clavell scored finished with double digits (16,16,10,19 points respectively) and let Dallas take control of the game. This surprising bench production outscored their starters production with only 44 in total.
On the other end of the court, there was no player to tie up with the Maverick’s performance except Kent Bazemore scoring 20 points which pretty much efforts just ended up in vain.
Mavericks bolstered their offense beyond the arc, turning the game into a shootout with dominance on their side, hitting 19 triples which dusted away Hawks with only 9 from the rainbow country.
If there were something that allowed Hawks to catch up with Dallas, it would be free throw shooting. Mavericks fouled too much, 29 fouls in total whilst Hawks giving only 12. Atlanta made 23 out of 32 free throws. 23 points scored without the clock winding down may have a huge impact if the game could’ve gotten closer.
Mavericks 108 –  Powell 11, Ferrell 11, Smith Jr. 9, Ashley 7, Noel  6, Bench – 64
Hawks 94 – Bazemore 20, Prince 11, Schroder 9, Ilyasova 7, Dedmon 7, Bench – 40

Wall, Wizards Takes Pivotal Game 5

John Wall had the game high 14 assists and added 20 points on the board to take the pivotal game 5 against the Atlanta Hawks. Streaky shooting from Wizards forward Otto Porter and guard Bradley Beal was also a huge factor against the Atlanta Hawks. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 27 points on an 11 shots made out of 22 he attempted while Otto Porter had the hot hands, contributing 17 points while shooting 75% field goals percentage.
Dennis Schroder lead the Hawks with 29 points and 11 assists while Paul Millsap scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. However it wasn’t enough for the Atlanta Hawks and some turnovers cost them during the crunch time. Atlanta had 11 turnovers in the game while Washington only had 7. The Hawks also shot poorly at the free-throw line making only 14 shots out of 21.
Washington Wizards finished the game with a score of 103-99 against the Atlanta Hawks to take a commanding 3-2 series lead with Game 6 set for Atlanta on Friday.

Hawks Balanced it out in Game 4, Ties up the Series with Wizards with 2-2

Washington Wizards seemed to have a good start in Game 4 with Atlanta Hawks. Handling easily every attacks and blows Hawks was giving, making Wizards lead with 38-29 early in the second quarter. But then suddenly when Wizards thought they got the hold of the game, Hawks heated up and went on a 14-0 lead to take the lead and change the game.
Then, Kent Bazemore and Dwight Howard stepped in the game making it more difficult for the Wizards to get a point. But the Wizards was really determined, getting back at Hawks and catching up to all their point disadvantages. In the end, that was all the Wizards can do. It was clear that Atlanta Hawks definitely took the Game 4 of this series with other Hawks scoring double figures like Prince, Howard, Hardaway, and Bazemore. Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder took over the last five minutes of the game ending the night with 111-101.
The series will go back to Washington on Wednesday for Game 5 of the series, who ever wins will just be one win away to the Eastern Conference.

It’s the Beal and Wall Show! Wizards Leads the Series 2 – 0 Against Hawks

April 20, 2017, coming in to you from the Famous Verizon Center in Washington, let’s welcome our tonight’s host Bradley Beal and John Wall!

Tonight they will show how to take down a Hawk with awesome shooting!

This is how I imagined the game between the Hawks and the Wizards. One of the best backcourts in the NBA is showing that they are ready for the big show by leading the Wizards to a game 2 victory infront of the home crowd. Beal scored 31 points while John Wall scored 32.
Hawks tried to fight it off but the Wizards held on and had a strong fourth quarter scoring 35 points and taking it gome with a score of 109 -101.
Hawks is missing some outside shooting in game 2 as they shot 20 from deep and only made 4. Why did they had to let Korver go, he is just sitting on the bench now in a Cavs uniform.
Two more to go, but this time Wizards would have to take their magic down south in Atlanta.

Game 2 final score: 109 – 101, Washington. The Wizards leads the series 2 – 0.

Effective Teamwork: Together Wizards Put Down the Hawks to Take Game 1

114 – 107. This was the final score of the game as the Wizards defended their home court against the visiting Hawks to take game 1 of their playoffs series.
Hawks with their eyes on the prize was well within striking distance most of the game but the Wizards used some magic as they scattered the offensive loads which made it hard for the Hawks to identify the mark.
Wizards played a collective game with six people scoring in double digits. John Wall ( 32 points ), Bradley Beal ( 22 points ) and Markieff with 21 points.  The scoring was contagious especially in the 3rd quarter when they poured in 38 points.
Dennis Schroder and Paul Millsap score 25 and 19 points respectively but were not enough as the 3rd quarter burst of the Wizards proves to be too much to counter in the fourth and final quarter.
Wizards takes the first game of the game of 7 series.

Kent Bazemore scored 25 and gives ATL a win over Wizards! 114-99!

Kent Bazemore

Kent Bazemore has been around the league and seems like this Hawks team will benefit the most as he grows older and gets better. Bazemore is putting up good numbers as of late and just recently gave the Hawks a good push to win the game over the Washington Wizards.

The lost of DeMarre Caroll may raise eyebrows on why the hawks let him walk, but as early as now offensively Bazemore could be better than Caroll and that’s what he has provide thus far.

The Hawks has won 7 straight after losing its first game, they are 7-1 and is leading the Eastern Conference of the NBA.

Here is the highlight performance of Kent Bazemore:

Bulls and Pistons are Victorious in Opening Night

Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons both got a positive result on the season opener, after winning games against Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks respectively.

Bulls beat Cavaliers in a close game, 97-95 in United Center, Chicago. It was a very tight game and many beautiful plays shown by both sides. Cavaliers performed really well, and played as a solid team, but unfortunately fell short, even though they dominated in second, third and fourth quarters. Bulls led the Cavaliers 26-17, but Cavaliers stepped up and actually led Bulls for the rest of the quarters, 23-20, 28-25 and 27-26.

Jimmy Butler was the hero on the game. His steal on the last seconds Cavaliers’ attempt through Lebron James that intended to catch a pass from Mo Williams inbound ball secured the victory for the home team.

A little surprise on the line-up for the Bulls; Nikola Mirotic starts over veteran Joakim Noah. And it turned out pretty well. Mirotic ended the game with 19 points, and 9 rebounds in 25 minutes. The hero Jimmy Butler added 18 points for the Bulls. Bulls’ superstar point guard, Derrick Rose playing with a protective mask after undergoing fractured orbital bone surgery. He scored 18 points and 5 dimes. Pau Gasol had a block party, 6 blocks under his name on this season opener.

Meanwhile, Lebron James noted 25 points for Cavaliers, with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Mo Williams, started his second stint with Cavaliers well, with 19 points and 7 assists against the Bulls. Kevin Love added 18 points and newly signed forward, Richard Jefferson made 10 points.

Another scene from the game was that President Barack Obama attended last night’s game in United Center. From his tweet, he seems very happy that Bulls ended up victorious.

Meanwhile in Philips Arena, Atlanta, The Hawks hammered by Detroit Pistons 106-94. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the star for the Pistons, scoring 21 points and 4 rebounds. Pistons’ big man Andre Drummond was having a game as well, with 18 points and 19 (yes, nineteen) rebounds for the away team. Marcus Morris added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

For the home team, German point guard, Dennis Schroder led the team with 20 points, while forward Paul Millsap has 19 and Jeff Teague scored 18. Hawks looked struggling without DeMarre Carroll, who left the team for Raptors in free agency, offensively and defensively, and Kent Bazemore, who played to fill Carroll’s spot, scored none.

NBA: Atlanta hawks unveils new uniforms

That’s right these are the new uniforms, that the Hawks will be sporting this coming season. The Hawks was the 2nd runner up in the 2015 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Will this change have a better effect for the Hawks and its franchise? They have to keep their core in Teague, Caroll and Horford. Korver is good but he may not be enough as their starting SG. I think they should also let Millsap walk or they can also use him for a sign and trade.

Stay here @ as we wait for the moves that the Hawks will make this coming 2015 NBA Draft on June 25, 2015 9pm @ Barclay’s Center Brooklyn, New York.
