Hornets Open to Trade Kemba Walker: The Pros and Cons

Kemba Walker of Charlotte Hornets

Kemba Walker has been Charlotte’s star so why they would want to trade him in the first place?

The Charlotte Hornets are far from being a playoff-bound team, to say the least. At 18-26, they are at the 11th place in the Eastern Conference after a 106-105 defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat. The good news though: they have won 6 of their last 10 games but are they gonna be satisfied with that?
To give credit to the Hornets, they are no longer the same team who used to dwell down the bottom of the standings like they used to do in the previous seasons. They’ve managed to beat the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this. Thanks to Dwight Howard, the Hornets are the second-best rebounding team in the league, averaging 46 rebounds per game with Howard averaging 12 rebounds per game.
So why would the Charlotte Hornets willing to trade their long-time leader, Kemba Walker
Yup. You’ve read it right, folks. The Charlotte Hornets are rumored to be willing to part ways with Kemba Walker who is leading this season with his 21 points, 5 assists and 1 steal per game averages. Walker has played 41 games this season, starting in all of them.

So what would be the effects of trading away Kemba Walker?

The Pros

For starters, Kemba Walker, at 27 years-old, is still young and still in his prime years. He could be a valuable asset to any team who would make a run at him. This will give the Hornets the advantage to ask for a  high-tier player in exchange for their star point guard who has been their offense for the past 7 seasons now. In addition to this, the inclusion of Walker to a possible trade package will also give the Hornets the advantage because they can also ask for a first-round draft pick.

The Cons

Let’s state the painful truth here. Trading Kemba Walker would mean that the Charlotte Hornets are virtually throwing away their future.Walker is now the number 2 all-time in career points and assists in a Charlotte uniform. That would be a big blow because it would also mean that Dwight Howard will need to take over the lead. Not to discredit Dwight Howard but, can he actually lead the Hornets once Kemba Walker is playing elsewhere? Another bad side of trading Kemba Walker is that there would be no assurance that Charlotte will improve.

Conclusion

Kemba Walker is still one of the point guards to watch out for. He will be an additional asset to any of the championship-contending teams who will trade for him.
Question: Will Charlotte push the panic button and trade Kemba Walker? That depends on how ready they are to go back o the bottom of the standings.

Forgotten Howard Reminded of His Greatness, Passed Charles Barkley in All-Time Rebounding List

Dwight Howard vs Charles Barkley

Dwight Howard passed Charles Barkley to move into 18th place on the NBA’s all-time rebounding list.

At age 32 and with 12 years career in the NBA, the former overall first pick of 2004 has wrecked havoc in the NBA and has been one of the dominant big men of the modern basketball. While the spotlight today is not focused on him, Dwight has continued to be an effective basketball player for Charlotte Hornets.
Dwight Howard started his career from 2004–2012 with the Orlando Magic then a had a quick foray with the lakers from  2012–2013. The Houston Rockets once saw him as a savior but decided years later that it was Harden and not him. After spending 3 years, he moved Atlanta Hawks but it was shortlived once again. Today, he is playing for the Charlotte Hornets were he leads the team so far in three categories: field goal at 53.5%, blocks at 1.2 and rebound at 12.1 per game.
Just recently, Howard has tallied 12,550 career rebounds and has moved up to the 18th spot over Charles Barkley and just a little behind Bob Pettit, Jerry Lucas and it his career he could potentially pass the great Shaquille O’Neal’s rebounding record that is not far behind at 13,099.
Howard is a 5× NBA rebounding leader (2008–2010, 2012, 2013) and a 2× NBA blocks leader (2009, 2010).
In my point of view, Dwight Howard is still an All-Star however, he may have lost a lot of charm lately especially after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

By the Numbers: Undermanned Celtics Beat Hornets

Bench players to help erase a 12-point deficit in the 4th quarter

Kyrie Irving got hurt early in the game and never returned.

First, Gordon Hayward is long out after twisting his foot 6 minutes into the Celtics’ opening night game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then, Al Horford got hurt and missed the last few games which the Celtics fortunately won. Jayson Tatum also got hurt but was able to play.
Then, this.
Just when everyone thought that from the very moment Kyrie Irving got elbowed in the face during the first quarter, Boston’s winning streak may be over as they fell behind, 26-11 at the end of the first quarter.
Nope!
The Boston Celtics fought their way back into the game and outscored the Charlotte Hornets in the 4th quarter, 26-11, en route to a 90-87 victory over Kemba Walker and the rest of the Hornets. That, folks, is Boston’s 11th STRAIGHT VICTORY. This pundit on wheels emphasized that because the Celtics did it without one of the prized acquisitions during the off-season.
Just how good the Cs against the Hornets last night? Check out the numbers below:

https://lap.lazada.com/banner/dynamic.php?banner_id=59f0ac16d324f&theme=2&p=3

Balanced Scoring

Unlike the Hornets who had Kemba Walker leading the way with 20 points but no other starters scored in double figures, one of the many things that enabled the Celtics to keep their winning streak going was their balanced scoring:
  • Jayson Tatum: 16 points
  • Shane Larkin: 16 points
  • Terry Rozier: 15 points
  • Marcus Morris: 14 points
  • Jaylen Brown: 10 points and 13 rebounds
The best thing about this win for the Celtics: they can win even without anyone scoring above 20 points. Now that’s efficiency at its finest, folks.

Celtics Took Advantage of their Free Throws

In a game where both teams were having a bad shooting night (Celtics at 35% while Hornets at 38%), another thing that won the game for the Celtics was their free throw shooting. Compared to Charlotte who only made 19 of their 33 attempts from the line, the Celtics hit 21 of their 25 free throw attempts. Given how close the final score was, one could only think: if Dwight Howard could only hit more than just 2 of 9 attempts, the outcome would have been different, right?

Conclusion

If the Boston Celtics can keep up the consistency and the determination that they showed against the Hornets, they can definitely round up more wins especially with the possibility of Kyrie Irving missing the Celtics’ upcoming game against the Toronto Raptors.
And if you were the Raptors,  you wouldn’t want to underestimate a Celtics team that is already without Hayward and Horford to begin with. You have seen what they could do with Irving on board. You have seen what they could do without #11.
Either way, the Boston Celtics are still the hottest team in the league right now.

The Impending Downfall of Dwight Howard

He was one of the most dominant centers. Was.

He has jumped from one conference to another. Twice.
Back in 2009, Dwight David Howard carried his Orlando Magic on his back, defeating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals – denying us NBA fans the golden opportunity to witness a Finals match-up that would have featured Kobe Bryant going up against the King himself.

Of course, the Magic would eventually lose to the Finals against the Lakers, 4-1. Since then, the Magic has never recovered. Dwight Howard’s career has become a roller coaster ride even when he was traded the Lakers before the start of the 2012-2013 season which ended in nuts, unfortunately.

He signed with the Houston Rockets after a miserable, forgettable stint alongside Kobe Bryant, and enjoyed some significant success as a consistent starter.

Then, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks for the 2016-2017 season which saw his numbers dropping horribly to career lows. He only averaged 13.5 points per game, his 2nd lowest since his rookie season. On the other hand, his field goal percentage has improved. He made 63% of his shots during the 2016-2017 season- 4th in the league in that category. His 12 rebounds per game also put him in the top 5 among the league’s leading rebounders.

Despite his still-respectable numbers and him being an 8-time All-Star, the Houston Rockets once said that nobody would trade for Dwight Howard because he is no longer capable of becoming a dominant franchise player like he once was during his stint with the Magic.

Okay. Let’s say he’s no longer the same “Superman” who defeated LeBron James and the Cavs back in 2009 but ladies and gentlemen, Dwight Howard is still young at 31. Relatively speaking, he still has a few years in his tank and like it or not, he has been working hard to get his dominant self back.Given the chance and the appropriate minutes, he will prove his doubters wrong and he will.

Now entering his 14th season with his new team, the Charlotte Hornets after being traded, again, “Superman” looks to wear his cape again as he hopes to lead the Hornets, who finished last season in 11th place in the East. Howard may no longer be the same guy we all knew back then but he is still here. He is still healthy. And most importantly, Dwight Howard can still dunk over defenders.

When Dwight Howard demands a trade, this guy has to find him a new house.
Dwight Howard is known for becoming unhappy on his team and demanding a trade. But what happens if you’re his realtor?
Meet Ben. He’s the guy responsible for finding Dwight Howard a house every time he’s looking at new teams. Shrinking Dwight Howard Traded To Hornets His 5th Team, Tracy McGrady Reacts

Atlanta Hawks acquired Miles Plumlee, Marco Belinelli (the real) and the 41st pick.  Charlotte Hornets acquired Dwight Howard and the 31st pick.
Dwight Howard was hosting a live session on social media about his next move but Atlanta was way a step ahead trading the then hot commodity Dwight Howard to Charlotte Hornets.
Moving Dwight Howard to another team means only one thing and it feels like the former number 1 pick overall and all-star has not found a home yet.  Charlotte could be a good thing for him as he teams up with Kemba Walker and Nicholas Batum.

Dwight Howard Goes to Atlanta on Three-Year Agreement

Dwight Howard heads to Atlanta after him and Hawks agreed on a three-year, 70.5 million deal.
The Hawks are desperately in need of a center with Al Horford being an unrestricted free agent and reportedly will sign elsewhere. The signing of  Howard to Hawks made an insurance of Horford’s departure.

Howard has averaged 13.7 points, 11 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game last season with the Houston Rockets. His 13.7 points averaged was his lowest since his rookie season.

Howard made it clear at the end of the end of 2015-2016 season that he will not return as a Rocket next season. He had a conflict with the Rockets players for not giving and feeding the ball to him inside.

The 1st overall pick of the 2004 NBA draft proved that he has still left on his tank after a 36 points and 26 rebounds performance in an overtime loss against the Clippers last year. Howard will try to revive his career and perform like an MVP candidate once again with his new team next season.

Is New York Knicks the best choice for Dwight Howard?

Image via VN Design

Dwight Howard is interested in signing with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley. But, if Howard ends up with the Knicks, will he be a great fit when two of the current Big 3 of the Knicks are ball dominant? Howard doesn’t shine too much when paired with a ball dominant point guard that is why he might have to think twice coming to New York. But who knows? Howard and Porzingis might be a formidable duo inside the paint.

AD put His Team on His Back to Beat the Rockets! 24pts, 13 rebs and 3 blocks!

Anthony Davis put his team on his back and showed that as long as they can keep healthy they will contend, however he needs a better supporting cast because Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon has been inconsistent due to injuries. This victory doesn’t really reflect how good their team could be because they are sitting with a 10-20 record 2nd to the bottom from the Western Conference.

AD even had an emphatic alley oop jam that gave them the lead @ 110-108 with 2:15 remaining in the game. The score remained that way because the two teams were battling for every possession. James Harden led the Rockets with 25 pts and 4 rebounds. Dwight Howard only scored 7 pts and grabbed 9 rebounds. Eric Gorden led all scorers with 26pts (6-8) from 3 points.

Here is the exciting highlight of the game:

Rockets to monitor Dwight Howard’s minutes

Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Monday the team will monitor the workload of star center Dwight Howard this upcoming season.

McHale said during the Rockets’ media day session he doesn’t have a specific plan for number of minutes played or whether Howard will participate in back-to-backs, but team doctors and the strength and conditioning staff will play a significant role in determining what guidelines the team might use.

“We’d like to make sure he plays more games and like to make sure he’s more healthy this year because he’s a huge part of what we’re doing and he is such a dominant force,” McHale said.

Howard, 29, played in a career-low 41 games last season due to an assortment of injuries. He missed 26 consecutive games in a three-month stretch in the second half of the season with a right knee injury. When Howard returned, he didn’t play in back-to-back games and his minutes were limited to no more than 20 until the late stages of the regular season.

Howard also sprained his left knee during the Western Conference finals last season but didn’t miss any games.

“The main thing is, when I’m out there on the floor, I deliver the best effort I can for my teammates — that’s the most important thing,” said Howard.

Rockets Center Dwight Howard detained for having a handgun in his carry-on bag

Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith said Wednesday that Howard was stopped at Terminal E at 7 a.m. when Transportation Security Administration officials discovered a pistol in the bottom of a carry-on bag.

Howard told officials the gun was his, and after being detained by law enforcement officials he was allowed to give the handgun to an associate.

The Houston District Attorney’s office was contacted after Howard was detained and declined to press any criminal charges against him.

Howard was allowed to board a later flight.

The Rockets released a statement saying the team was aware of the incident and still gathering information. Howard couldn’t be reached.

So I got a hi-five from Dwight Big deal

What is the harsh comment of Jabbar for Dwight Howard

The All time great Center, Kareem Abdul Jabbar may not be playing professional basketball these days but he surely still follow what is happening in today’s basketball world. Recently his comments about Dwight Howard have irked fans and Dwight Howard himself, so what did Jabbar say about Dwight Howard?

Jabbar mentioned:

“Dwight is an extraordinary athlete and has incredible athletic ability, but basketball is a game where the most important muscle that you use on the court is the one between your ears,” Abdul-Jabbar said on ESPN’s “First Take” show Thursday. “Dwight’s basketball IQ is not up to speed for him to be a dominant player.”

Translation: Dwight Howard you should have stayed in Los Angeles,  what were you thinking? that was a stupid move therefore we hate you and you are no longer the best center in the league.

Dwight Howard’s response:

You can’t win three Defensive Player of the Year trophies and be stupid. That can’t be done,” he told the Houston Chronicle. “And I don’t think any coach that has ever coached me has said I have a low IQ for basketball.

“Have I done some dumb stuff on the floor? Yes, every player has. Have I done some stupid things in life? Yes, it’s life. We make mistakes and learn from them. It is what it is. I think I am very intelligent when it comes to the game of basketball. I have been playing since I was 3 years old. Each year, I get a little smarter.

“People will have something to say. Is what it is. I’m in (Houston) now. This city has my back and we are going to ride together.”

“When I joined the Lakers I was the greatest center. When I left, I was the worst,” Howard said. “Mentally, I wasn’t capable of playing center. I understand a lot of things are said out of emotion. I will say, if he has anything to say, I am here in Houston. We can talk man to man. That’s how I feel.”

“There is no need for me to go back and forth with him,” Howard said. “One thing I would say is that he is old enough to where whatever I do shouldn’t even matter. He is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. If I’m Kareem, I’m like why? Four championships, five championships, whatever. I’ve been in Airplane and done movies with Bruce Lee. I am not worried about the young whippersnapper.

“I wish him good luck. People do things different and when I am done playing, I will do what I can to help the younger generations.”

Who is the best center in the league this season?

Dwight Howard to Houson, Josh Smith next?

Ladies and gentlemen Dwight Howard already made a decision, this is according to an article from USA Today (link). Dwight Howard as everyone expected will be flying to Houston according to an unnamed source of USA Today, I feel bad for the Lakers, but I am sure they saw this one coming, Houston getting another big name and I would not be surprise if Josh Smith will follow, well everyone is creating their own super team and Houston is close to getting their own version of a super team. We could potentially see Jeremy Lin and   Omer Asik both acquired last year being traded.

So it began, the courting for the highly regarded Dwight Howard to join their team, we all know that there are plenty of suitors, but so far Dallas have made an interesting offer that is hard to come by, free finger chicken for life! Raising Cane’s marketing manager Adam Reed’s mentioned in one of their innovative marketing stunt that if Dwight Howard sign with the Mavericks he can eat in all of the restaurants 20 local branches for free for the rest of his life. This would be hard to resist!

LA Lakers desperately campaigning for Howard to stay!

LA Lakers desperately campaigning for Howard to stay! Oh yeah they are, they should because Dwight Howard have a lot of offers and team to consider and its all good. “Dwight Howard Day“in LA, what were they thinking?

I am not living in LA so i really don’t care about this news and plus I am little to late on this, but for those who don’t know yet, the City of Los Angeles has proclaimed November 14th, 2012 “Dwight Howard Day“.
For what reason? I don’t know, I guess its cool. check out Snoop Dog and Dwight Howard himself present the special day at the Los Angeles City Hall. Do you think they will proclaime Steve Nash day soon?

Dwight Howard need to sell shoes, Lakers in trouble

New LA Lakers center maybe doing what he is supposed to do for the Lakers but generally it ain’t showing the right results for the team. Dwight Howard, Kobe and Steve Nash on paper looks good but looks like the papers are about to be thrown away because it don’t mean a thing especially that they have not gotten a win yet. Lakers fans are you alarmed?

Well, Dwight should be, He needs to sell a lot of his new AdiZero shoes or else.

Check out Dwight Howard as he brag about his shoes.

Miami Heat looking good!

Miami Heat looking good! people can say whatever, but  Heat still the best team in the NBA, even after Lakers acquisition of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Lakers may have the better player in the center position but Miami Heat has the best Guard and forward in the league, center don’t win the game and frankly having Dwight wont really does not change much in the Lakers offense, Bynum was as good as Dwight Howard, the only difference would be Howard’s defense. Will see in the upcoming months.

Watch Dwight work out with the Lakers

For those who still cant believe it, yes Dwight Howard is a Lakers.  Take a look of the newest Dwight Howard workout video with the Lakers, do you know believe? if you are a Lakers  fan reading this then I am sure you are very excited to see Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant play wearing the Lakers uniform, and you are probably believing that this year could be a championship season for the Lakers. Oh wait snap out of it, Its not going to happen yet.

Dwight Howard in China, evryone is going to China

Everyone is going to China nowadays, Lebron , Kobe, Dwight and many others are taking a tour in China. They love China, NBA love China, China loveNBA basketball, I’m  sure they do but their love for basketball will be belittled by the Philippines, that is if we are talking about who is the biggest fans between the two Nations, NBA players and American brands going to China for obvious reason, China is one of the emerging market in Asia and all the American companies including NBA want to get a piece  of the Chinese pie.

What will Dwight Howard bring to the Lakers?

Now that Dwight Howard is finally a Lakers and people are already talking about a championship match between the LA Lakers and the Miami Heat, what can Dwight Howard really bring to the Lakers Team?We already know that Dwight Howard is a tremendous player and he can further solidify the defense of the Lakers, Bynum was a good player but he is not a defensive player like Dwight Howard. We expect Dwight Howard’s defensive presence and inside scoring.
Maybe I am asking the wrong question, Will Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant have a harmonious relationship, we all know that Kobe has a way of treating big guys, remember Shaq and currently Pau Gasol. Will this be a start of another Dwight Howard drama, if it is then he chose the right setting, Hollywood baby its just around the corner.
Ron Artest contribution is priceless

We love you Dwight song video!

Will Dwight Howard leave Orlando? Only time will tell. Dwight Howard will be a free agent by the end of the season and He can do what he wants by then, the predicament here is with the Orlando Magic side. If Dwight  Howard leave them by the end of the season they will be left with no premier player and a large some of money, well money really is not the issue. Orlando Magic would need the to sign new players in the free agent market  next season which means they need to gamble on a new unknown man on the other hand they can trade Dwight Howard now and at least get a good player from a specific team they want. Lets Watch some fans sing a song for Dwight Howard.

We love you Dwight song video!

Not so good!, We love you Dwight! We love you! we Love you!
