“I’m excited to join my first COLOR MANILA run.  I’ve always liked obstacle courses and I’ve seen a lot of photos of their other events.  I can finally join one,” says actress Antoinette Taus.
“We are so happy that all of you guys got here, for making this another sold-out event in Pampanga.  We would also like to encourge our followers to start signing up for our next big event in Manila, the CM Blacklight Run, to be held on May 27, 2017, at Filinvest City, Alabang.  We are most likely expecting 12,000 participants there,” says Justine Cordero, VP of COLOR MANILA.

COLOR MANILA RUN Year 5: A Kaleidoscope Comes to Life

The Color Manila Run jump-started the 1st quarter of 2017 with a vibrant event last January 8, at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds. Now on its 5th year, thousands of registered runners were pelted with colored powder throughout the race route. The result? A color-stained shirt, tons of artsy photos, unlimited smiles, and epic memories that will last a lifetime.
Known as the most anticipated non-competitive run in the Philippines, the Color Manila Run maintains its goal to advocate a healthy and active lifestyle by adding fun to the running sport that Filipinos will surely enjoy. “I really felt the enjoyment of everybody in the event. In spite of the exhaustion, you can see the joy in their faces. It was a clear sign that Color Manila Run was successful in showing us that running can be a fun thing to do,” Dannika Rodriguez, a consultant at Misys Philippines, recounts her experience.

Runners from various categories – 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K, – ran through the race courses where different color stations and well-propped crews await them. “It was the perfect event to start my year.” says Milo Dagami, a technical support agent at Telstra Company who just finished a 10KM distance, “The crowd (race crew) at the color stations was very nice and friendly to me. It was awesome!”  Unlike other events in which most runners go home after running, most runners stay in the race village after completing in their respective categories. The programs prepared by organizers every year are exciting and fun as the race route itself.

The highlight of the post-run programs was the Color Festival; a post-run party in which participating runners simultaneously released the colored powders in the air and danced to the beat. “I had so much fun with other runners, especially during the Color festival at the race village,” shares Brian Tan, a software quality engineer. “I guess the best part about the race was being a part of it. Unlike usual competitive races, I didn’t have to worry about my personal record. I had a good time during and after running. It was a wonderful experience all throughout.”

Aside from the creative theme of the event, the Color Manila Run boasts a lot of freebies that gave participants a bang for their bucks. These included race singlets, dri-fit shirts, unique finisher medals and shirts, sunglasses, multi-way headwear, drawstring bags, pillows, hydrations, and even color packets to be used for the color festival! “The finisher items were a big bonus. I certainly love this years’ big and pretty medal.” Brian added.

Color Manila Returns to Clark With a Massive 6000 Runners

COLOR MANILA, leading organizer of ‘concept-fun runs’, had a very successful return to Clark, Pampanga last December 3, 2016 for its CM Blacklight Run.  They had a record number of 6,000 participants joining the said event, which is said to be the biggest event COLOR MANILA has had outside of Manila, to date.
The event was held at the Clark Parade Grounds and marked the third time that COLOR MANILA has held an event in Pampanga.  Participants had various race finishes of 3K, 5K, and 10K to choose from.
“We had two other events brought to Clark this year, the last event was CM Blacklight as well, and because of the partnership we have with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC), we have been able to grow our number of participants from 3,000 to 6,000 in just a span of three (3) months. The run has become a much-anticipated event for runners and first-time runners alike”, says Justine Cordero, Vice President of COLOR MANILA.
Thousands of participants from Pampanga, Manila and some nearby provinces such as La Union, Baguio, Tarlac, Pangasinan and Bulacan joined the event.  Some foreigners also flew all the way from Indonesia, US, and other countries, just to be able to experience the night run.
According to Jay Em, President of COLOR MANILA, “What makes COLOR MANILA different is that, it is not about who finishes the race first, since everyone gets a medal.  For most of the participants, it is about creating that venue wherein you can exercise and bond with your friends at the same time, as you all go through the various race challenges and experience having colored powder thrown at you.”
Resident DJ Marxx Monterola with MC Dino also entertained the participants after the event.
COLOR MANILA’s next Blacklight event will be held in Dagupan in partnership with CSI The City Mall on December 10, 2016, it will be their last event for 2016.
For 2017, COLOR MANILA will start the year with its biggest annual event, COLOR MANILA RUN – YEAR 5, which will be held on January 8, 2016 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Grounds.  The organizers are anticipating 12,000 participants for this event.
COLOR MANILA also recently announced in its recent press conference at Kerry Sports at Shangri-La at the Fort, its plans to bring their events to United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States.
Registration is still open for COLOR MANILA Blacklight Run Dagupan at G/F CSI The City Mall-Dagupan.  For COLOR MANILA RUN – YEAR 5 and other events, you may visit http://www.colormanilarun.com or FB/ColorManilaRun for more information.

5 Points That Made the Color Manila Run: Black Light Edition a SUCCESS

Did you run at the Color Manila Run Black Light Edition – Manila 2016? If not, you have may have missed out a great run party. Here’s my honest take regarding the most talked-about color run this month.
1.) It was a 100% FUN-run!
There are only 3 reasons why I join a race: 1.) I want to break my official PR whenever I can, 2.) train for longer distances, and 3.) I want to earn that cool finisher shirt. With those being said, I’ll fall straight under the “serious runners” category.  Joining and running at Color Manila’s ‘Black Light’ 2016 edition was amazingly unnatural for me. My only GOAL in this race was to slow down and enjoy. There was no air of “competitiveness” around. Yes, there was a lot of walking that happened in this run. One must understand that the exact point of the event was simple: You’re not supposed to take it seriously. Everyone was there to have fun, play around on the streets, and exhaust the entire distance making memories with their friends and families.

For a “serious runner” like me, it was like having a long recess with thousands of kids after a very complicated subject in school. It’s break time!

PS: A special shout-out to those brave men who brought Star Wars Lightsabers. That was a pretty awesome idea.

2.) It promotes a CLEAN party experience.

Because of the recent issues that circulated in the news recently, the organizers of Color Manila Run took the mantle of responsibility and encouraged all runners to have a CLEAN party. The definition of “CLEAN” meant no alcohol and no drugs. You want to get drunk? Get and fill yourself with Vita Coco. The gesture done by the organizers during the jumpstart of the event was an impressive show of credibility to their clients. The Color Manila Run remained faithful in promoting a healthy lifestyle and an enjoyable running experience for everybody.  Great job on this one, CMR!

3.) It was well-ORGANIZED.

Most of the runners had a pleasant experience (There is no such thing as a perfect event). The implementation of registration mechanics, set-up of the race village, transition of each running category, hydration, road facilitation, quality of race inclusions, and distribution of kits and freebies were all good. I always had this tendency to criticize every run I join in, and I have nothing to say about this run. Yes, the registration fee was quite expensive but it was fair, considering how everything turned out. Organizing a smooth event like this with a registered number of 9,000 runners is a commendable feat.

4.) It’s goes NATIONWIDE.

Different editions of the Color Manila Run are held in several parts of the country every year. During the press conference at the Prive’, I had the chance to see the races that the CMR had organized throughout the years. It was amazing to imagine the number of people who actually participate in this kind of race. It didn’t matter whether you are from Manila or Davao, Luzon or Mindanao.

The Color Manila Run surely brought the fun in Filinvest, Alabang that night.

5.) It is a Run-For-A-Cause event.

The CMR supports humanitarian advocacies. The Color Manila Foundation Inc is an organization that aims to help educate and support our fellow Filipinos. The event promotes a Shoebox drive that will benefit the people of the Mangyan and Dumagat tribes. It’s good to know that I was going run in an event that has a motive to help others and not just make profits.  It’s one of those events that has a HEART.

Color Manila ’16: The Good and the Bad

                                                                        After The Run

The Color Manila: Blacklight Run 2016 stayed true to its intention. The creators of the run aimed for the event to be fun and exciting. And that they accomplished.

The event officially began at 8 pm, with the playing of a prayer (through song) and the National Anthem. After that, the countdown for the 10k runners began. Creators Jay Em and Justine Cordero had a goal, and that was to have ten thousand runners for the event. An approximation of nine thousand attended. They fell short of a thousand runners, but it was still a lot for the streets of Filinvest.

Since so much people signed up for the 10k, Color Manila had to divide the 10k runners into three batches, with each batch having a 5 minute interval. Soon, all the batches had started their run, as did the 5k and 3k runners. And the festivities commenced.

The streets of Filinvest were dark, illuminated only by the blue-light headlamps given by Color Manila. For the first few minutes, everyone ran. Unfortunately, that only lasted for the first kilometer. Most of the “runners” walked, talking selfies with their friends along the way. Nine thousand runners are a lot for the streets of Filinvest. Finding openings to run were difficult, as many participants opted to walk. Essentially, it was a walk-fest. In one’s line of sight, a few hundred were visibly running. Nonetheless, it was a wild event as the race had surprises along the way.

Runners were drenched by water spouts, courtesy of firetrucks. After that, swaths of color powder were thrown onto incoming runners. Many portions of the streets were blanketed in neon colors, particles of color powder littered the air.  It was an annoyance for some of the serious runners, but many people had fun. And for the Color Manila organizers, that was their goal. And that goal, they met.

Color Manila ’16: Party Ensues

Nine-thousand runners were a lot to accommodate. On the space Color Manila alloted (which president-elect Rodrigo Duterte had his rally), numerous foodtrucks greeted the hungry runners. Finishers immediately took their freebies: medals, stringbags, and towels. Vita Coco provided the hydration, during and after the run. Runners flocked to the photoboooths provided by GMA and Hygienix. To tune up the fun after the run, Color Manila held a party, complete with neon colors, blacklights, and remixed music brought by a local DJ.

The Color Manila: Blacklight Edition 2016 definitely brought out a lot of runners, accomplishing its goal of bringing the fun in running events.
