Bradley Skeete wants Jeff Horn!

Earlier this month Aussie Jeff  Horn pulled off a massive upset against Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane while high rank WBO contender Bradley “Super” Skeete won a 12 round decision win over Dale Evans where he defended his British Title.
Skeete , 29 of London UK is confident that he will soon get a shot at Jeff Horn’s WBO Title. Here he explains to Glynn Evans why the current WBO champ Jeff Horn should expect a short reign.

“Jeff done good but I thought Pac Man still deserved to win by two rounds. Not Horn’s fault, mind. He ain’t the judge. Either way, terrific fight,”
“I predicted Manny’s demise in an interview beforehand – stating I believed I could beat him, at this stage – and I received a huge amount of stick for it. Now the detractors can all shut their mouths. Pacquiao was a true legend and Horn’s upset win means my route to the WBO title just got a whole lot easier!”
“This should open the door for me. Even if there’s a rematch clause, I’m not sure it’ll happen anytime soon. Manny suffered bad cuts and does he really need this? He’s got all his religious and political stuff to pre-occupy him. Clearly he’s in decline. He shouldn’t be losing to your Jeff Horns. A couple of years ago, Jeff Horn couldn’t have laced Manny’s boots.
“Considering that Horn was an Olympic quarter-finalist (London 2012), he’s not the best technically- he always seems to be rushing his work – but sometimes you don’t need to be. He looked game as they come, physically strong and tough. He endured a terrible round nine, yet stormed back, a new man, in round ten. That showed he can bite on the gum shield and ‘have it’.
“Physically, it’d be very gruelling. I’d need to use my feet a lot, keep him off balance. I’d use that gameness against him. He marches in square on, flat footed begging to be picked off.
“His style is tailor-made for mine. Pacquiao caught him plenty and I’ve got major physical advantages – height and reach – that Manny didn’t enjoy. However, facing Horn the attribute you most need is a head guard. He’s very careless with his suede!
“Horn’s become such big thing in Australia now that it might be difficult to drag him away. He’s never fought outside Oceania as a pro but that’s okay. It’d be a dream come true if Frank (Warren) could entice him to the UK but, as champion, Jeff has the right to expect his challengers to travel. Besides, it looked a wicked stadium. I’d go over early, give myself plenty of time to acclimatize, catch some rays.
“I don’t imagine it’d be overly hostile. Jeff seems a nice guy. Obviously, as a qualified teacher, he’s got more brains than me! He worked his way up and took his shot. Respect.
“But I’ve got good form against the Aussies. Twice I boxed for Young England against Young Australia and won ‘em both on points!
“The plan would be to crack him with long shots; my stiff jab and a spiteful right hand. He’d not get past the jab and I’d gradually bust him up. He’s been down a few times recently and has a history for cutting up. It’d be a routine night at the office for me!” -Bradley Skeete

Ex GGG Foe Monroe Jr Thinks Canelo will Stop Golovkin

Former opponent of Gennady “GGG” Golovkin Willie Monroe Jr thinks Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will stop Golovkin ahead of their showdown on September 16 in Las Vegas.
“It’s funny, Right after I fought Golovkin, 15 minutes after I got out of the ring, they said, ‘Who do you think will win out of Canelo and Golovkin?’ I said, ‘I think Canelo would win.’ Everybody said, ‘Aw, you’re being a sore loser.’ I said, ‘How could I be a sore loser? I just got out of the ring 15 minutes ago. I’m still getting my faculties together.’ said Monroe Jr to Box Nation.
Despite of suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Golovkin. Monroe noticed flaws that might be the key for Canelo to get the win.
“When I fought Golovkin, in rounds three, four and five, where I got my best work done at, was on the inside,” Monroe explained. “And I found out that Golovkin is a mid-range fighter. If you’re too far away from him, he’s just gonna walk you down and try to cut off the ring. If you’re too close to him, he can’t get off. When you’re right in his wheelhouse, right in his power, that’s where he can be really dangerous. That’s where he is dangerous”
“And with Canelo, I think the only style that beats Canelo is legs. You have to have legs. Canelo has great upper-body movement, awesome inside work, very good counter-puncher, but his feet aren’t fast. So the things that give Canelo problems are fighters with good feet. Nothing else really gives Canelo problems. And when I say good feet, I’m not just talking about cutting off the ring like Golovkin does, because Canelo’s not gonna be moving. Canelo wants you to come to him, so he can counter. And Canelo’s faster than Golovkin. So personally, I think Canelo stops him in nine or 10.”
Willie Monroe Jr fought Golovkin on 2015 in Inglewood California where he was stopped in sixth round.Willie “Mongoose” Monroe (21-2,6) is scheduled to challenge WBO World Middleweight champ Billy Joe “Beffy” Saunders (24-0,12) on September 16 in Copper Box Arena UK.

In his sixteen years in professional boxing he held IBF World titles at Featherweight and Super featherweight division and also held the WBA and WBC interim world lightweight titles but after he suffered defeats on his 5 out of 7 fights and his age. He decided to hang up the gloves and retire.

ROBERT “THE GHOST” GUERRERO:
“First, I want to thank God for allowing me to have a wonderful career. I’m a kid from a small town in Gilroy, California, who made it to the mountain top of the boxing world. When I was a young kid growing up, I always believed in myself, but never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined a small-town kid like myself, would be fighting in front of millions of fans.”

“I was blessed to win multiple world titles in four-divisions. A boxer’s career is a long and tough road. Many tears were shed, lots of blood, and tons of sweat. Many miles were traveled, thousands of rounds sparred, none were easy and nothing was ever given to me. I earned everything I got the old fashion way. I never ducked anyone and fought the best fighters in the world. I fought my way through every obstacle to make sure my fans enjoyed every second, of every round, of my fights.”
“I competed at super-bantamweight (122 lbs.) and won world titles across multiple weight classes, closing my career at welterweight (147 lbs.), fighting the big guys 25 pounds heavier. A good friend always told me I was God’s warrior, born to fight. I enjoyed every minute of every war. I represented my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the bible verse Acts 2:38 on my trunks. If I reached one person and brought that person closer to Christ, then it was all worth it.”

“I want to thank some very important people in my career starting with the most important person, my wife Casey, who has been with me every step of the way, my soul mate, my sweetheart, the one and only love of my life. My father/trainer Ruben Guerrero Sr. He’s the one who started it all and made me the man I am today, and the champion I was in the ring. He’s one of the best trainers in the world and I hope to be working side by side with him in the future. My mother Marcy Guerrero for being a great mother and supporter. My co-manager Bob Santos for all the sacrifices he made to get me to the top…I will always remember the early days when we made the most with very liitle. He always had my back and looked out for me like I was his brother. His wife Diane Santos who did a lot of secretarial work for me during my whole career. Both my grandparents on Martinez and Guerrero sides for believing in me. My brother’s Sammy, Ruben Jr., Victor, Randy and especially Eric, who has been with me my whole career, my shadow every step of the way, my right-hand man. My mother and father in-law, Shelly and Cary O’neal. My cutman Ruben Gomez. My good friends, Pastor Mark Wilson, Dave Castro, Pastor Chris Avila, John Mersho, and Albert Guarado. My uncle Russel Sr., Russel Jr., Uncle Ricky, Hector Catano and Greg Amundson. I want to thank my co-manager Luis Decubas Jr. for taking my career to the next level. Santos and Decubas Jr. are more than managers, they are family to me. My publicist Mario Serrano, who has also been with me the whole ride, he is also family to me. All the fans and the community who stuck by my side when my wife was battling cancer…I will never forget the love you showed. There are so many people who have helped me, if I leave anyone off, thank you for everything.”

“In closing, I want to thank the most special man I’ve ever met in my boxing career, and possibly lifetime, a man who always does what’s best for the fighter, a man who has changed the sport of boxing, a man who has helped bless me and my family with a great life, and that person is my advisor Al Haymon. Not only is Al Haymon a spectacular advisor, he is a wonderful human being as well, a great man, and someone who cares. In a sport where most managers, promoters, and trainers turn their back on a fighter, when they no longer can perform, or are no longer beneficial to their interest, Haymon stands tall. Love and loyalty is tough to find in the boxing game, but for any boxer looking for it, you don’t have to look far, reach out to Al Haymon. I want to thank everyone, the fans included. I hope you guys appreciated the guts and glory I left in the ring. God bless you all.”
