Mickey Garcia Makes Statement Defeats Adrien Broner in 140-pound debut!

Mickey Garcia impressed boxing fans by beating 4-weight boxing champion Adrien Broner at Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York. Three judges Eric Marlinski (117-111), Don Ackerman (116-112) and Steve Weisfeld (116-112) all scored the fight for Mickey Garcia by wide margins. with the win Garcia captured the WBC Diamond belt and would get bigger names in the division.

The early rounds was tactical, Garcia was the busier fighter while Broner was on the move and throw some counter punches occasionally. Garcia attacked Broner and connected hard shots while Broner continued to move around and pick some counter punches. Broner knowing that Garcia is ahead in the scorecards he tried to do action in ninth round where he exchanged punches and  landed body shots that slow down Garcia. Broner landed left hook that knocked Garcia off balance in the 10th but Garcia regained the control in last two rounds.

In the co feature bout Jermell Charlo was successful on his WBC Middleweight title eliminator fight against Argentinean Jorge Sebastian Heiland. Charlo dropped Heiland in second round en route to fourth round knock out win over Argentinean.
