Barangay Ginebra San Miguel ended the 8 years of title-drought after sending Meralco home in game 6 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals. It has been a tight series and it is an unpredictable match every game between this top two teams who faced each other for a title bet.
LA Tenorio started the run of Ginebra after being down by more than 10 points and continued being in deficit entering the second half of the game 6.
The presence of the Ginebra Legend and the man who patented “Never Say Die” battle cry of the franchise fired the ballclub up which made the team going as they came back after being down in most part of the game.
In the second half the Ginebra squad continued to play catch up and inched their way back in the driver’s seat though Meralco did not make it easy for the Ginebra stars to get this game.
After a missed lay up of Allen Durham in the final seconds of the game that could have gave them the lead after being tied at 88 a piece, Ginebra called a time out with 5.5 seconds left on the clock, Sol Mercado dished his inbound pass to Brownlee who tried to create space and took a three point shot right before the clock expires and hits it from downtown which causes the win and be crowned as the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup Champion after a long wait, ups and downs and a lot of bashing, the Ginebra is now back on top and proved everyone that they are not the “kangkong” team no more.
