Champions League Review: Leicester City,Real Madrid,Dortmund and Juventus registered wins

UEFA Champions once again commenced last night in Europe. It is the most prestigious continental club competition in the world where only the best teams in Europe during their domestic leagues last season will be able to compete. It has a very rich history, great match ups and rivalries being created throughout it’s history.  

Leicester City 1-0 Copenhagen

Leicester City who made a miraculous title winning run last season in the Premier League to participate in the Champions League this season. Despite struggling right now in their title defense in the Premier League. It’s been however a dream start for them in the Champions League as they won now 3 of their first 3 group stages matches scoring 5 goals in the process and without conceding a goal. Riyad Mahrez goal in the 40th minute was the only that separate the two teams. Mahrez goal also means that he has now scored 3 goals in 3 games. 

Real Madrid 5-1 Legia Warsaw

 Real Madrid who just won a convincing win a couple of days ago in the Spanish League, once again displayed their might when they dismantled the reigning Polish Champions Legia Warsaw in the Champions League group stages. Gareth Bale opened the scoring in the 16th minute, this is also Bale’s 1st champions league goal for the Los Blancos in almost two years. Tomasz Jodlwiec put his side further behind as he scored an own goal  in the 19th minute to make it 2-0. However just 3 mins later Miroslav Radovic scored for Warsaw. Marco Asensio restored Real Madrid’s 2 goal lead when he scored in the 37th minute, Lucas Vasquez scored in the 68th minute and Alvaro Morata round up the goal fest when he scored in the 84th minute

Sporting CP 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund bounced back from the frustrating draw a couple of days ago in the German Bundesliga as they won against the Sporting CP. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now scored 9 goals in 9 matches for Dortmund when he scored a goal in the 9th minute. Julian Weigl scored a fantastic goal to double the lead Dortmund 2 mins before halftime. In the 67th minute Bruno Cesar scored a goal for the home team to ensure an intense last 23 minutes in Lisbon, however Sporting couldn’t find another to tie the match as Dortmund held for the win.
Lyon 0-1 Juventus

The reigning Italian champions wins a tight match against Lyon in the Group H of the Champions League. There were no goals in the game until with only 14 minutes left when Juan Cuadrado scored the winner for the Italian side. Juventus is only one of the 4 remaining sides in this season of Champions League that are yet to concede a goal.
