NIGHT OF THE CHAMPIONS III: LOPEZ STOPS PENA IN A BRUTAL WAR!

Boxing fans in Music Hall in Mall of Asia witnessed hard fought  action packed battle between Silvester Lopez and Danilo Pena who traded knockdowns for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight title.

The opening round started fast when Danilo Pena landed with wild hooks in the head to Lopez. Silvester Lopez was down twice but both ruled as a slipped by referee Vergilio Silvano, though the second down is a highly debatable decision. Lopez was forced to take serious bombs with head shots and body shots from 1st to 3rd round. Pena entered the fourth round ahead of all three judges scorecards.
The fourth round Lopez adjusted with the wild style of Pena and forcing the round with intelligent pressure that allowed him to hurt Pena and land crunching shots to head. Lopez continued to break down Pena by landing punches to both head and body knowing Pena is still dangerous he hesitated to go toe to toe with the Pitbull however he did good job to counter Pena.
Potentially the candidate for round of the year, In round 6 Pena surprised Lopez with a looping left hook that landed right to the jaw and caused Lopez dropped to his knees. Knowing Lopez was hurt, Pena chased Lopez and looked forward to end the fight convincingly but Lopez was able to withstand  the agressiveness of Pena and countered Pena with monster hook that dropped Pena for the first time in the fight. Lopez had turned the bout around scoring another knockdown. Pena was saved by the bell but Lopez began to smell the 7th round stoppage win.

Pena entered the 7th round exhausted while Lopez continued to press a stoppage win. Pena was now forced to fight back and tried his best to get through the good counter and footwork of Lopez but Lopez took his time, and continued to break down the Pitbull, who was dropped again after a vicious assault. Silvester Lopez unleashed a flurry of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight at the mark of :56 seconds in the 7th round
Silvester Lopez survived early scare and gets off the canvass to beat the veteran and very tough Danilo Pena to claim the WBC Asian Boxing Council Featherweight title
