Silvester Lopez, 28yrs. old is still Bebot Elorde’s top fighter as of today. The local Sibugay was brought to Manila by former champion, Celso Danggod. He has been with Bebot Elorde’s stable for almost 11years now. He is currently the most experienced one listed among the boxers of Bebot. He was crowned WBC Int’l Super Flyweight Champion when he was 21 years old after defeating Jong-Nam Park when he was still undefeated. He also defended his crown against Wandee Singwancha who had an impressiverecord of (63-11-1) at that time. After this, he continued going up the ratings after becoming the WBC Silver Super Flyweight Champion after beating Mexican hotshot, Oscar Ibarra. He also held the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental Superbantamweight Title and the WBC International Bantamweighttitle. Despite all the belts he has been crowned with, he still has that one goal in mind, to become aworld champion. And he still has that chance to get his break if he wins this July for the WBC ABCOFeatherweight title against the Pitbull, Danilo Pena whom he had battled against before in Casino Pilipino and ended only in a Unanimous Decision. This will be a tough fight but Lopez, will not back down.
Silvester Lopez is one of those that can be considered blessed with education finishing high school but decided to enter the boxing industry and become a professional. He said that his father’s brothers andhis mom’s brother and even his brother Percival Lopez were professional boxers. So the passion and the drive to become a boxer was in his blood, Lopez said. After criticizing that he is already done, he saysthat “mayroon pa ako, may dalawang taon pa ako. Lalo lang ako nageensayo at natututo”. Even if he is already a veteran, Lopez never stops learning the technique to win and continues to improve. He aims to become a world champion within the next years to come.He currently serves as the “kuya” and the leader of the stable and wants to continue inspiring young ones after he retires.
With so much experience anddrive, there is still a big chance for the silver to win gold. He will prove that hard work and dedication will lead you somewhere
