ALA Promotions maybe the most successful Boxing Promotions Today, What is their big secret?

ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer and his team are definitely doing a great job!

The Promotion is probably the most successful in the Philippines nowadays having the most consistent events with the most publicly recognized fighters today. What is the big secret?

While there are a lot of boxing promoters in the Philippines like Elorde Boxing, MP Boxing, Al Jaroe, Penalosa, Wakee Salud and many more,  none of them can really compete against what ALA has accomplished recently.

I have seen different local boxing events and they are not short of excitement and good boxers. Some of the boxers can even match up to international competitions but why is it that most of these events stay under the radar of casual Filipino fans? Why can’t they sell tickets?

Yes, boxing is a major sport in the Philippines and there are a lot more fans today than it has ever been in the past, thank you to Manny Pacquiao.  But with his impending exit, we will be left with a big void that none of the current fighters may be able to fill yet without the help of the Promoters and the Managers.

ALA fighters and Michael Aldeguer is in the forefront of that opportunity to fill in the gap and aside from the obvious advantage of being heavily backed up by ABS-CBN. They are certainly focused on helping fighters be successful, not that other promoters and managers are not spending a lot of money supporting their events and their fighters. The real issue here is that most of the boxing events are very traditional and even with the help of a TV partner they still end up doing  the same old thing. Which will not work in this day and age.

True that any boxing promoter with money and  partnered with the likes ABS-CBN would get a big boost but that is not the real sauce for ALA’s success.  What can you do without a huge TV partner?

The real ingredients are:

1. Having great international connections and strategic partnerships, thinking outside the box!
2. Ability to cross promote to casual fans or other sports and lifestyle events
3. Ability to tap the international markets, focus on marketing events and fighters consistently
4. Having a dedicated focused sales, business development and marketing team
5. They are utilizing social media more than any other promotions
6. They are open to changes
7. Lastly, they promote their fighters more than anyone and consistently

When people watch fight events they don’t really look at the name of the promotions,  however, knowing who is behind it will serve as a basis of how good the fighters and the event would be.

If I say Top Rank, Golden Boy and/or UFC, ther would be a public interest, right? Owing to the fact that they are the ones who has the most popular fighters but not necesarily the best fighters. I have seen a lot of great fighters and fans don’t even know their names.

Powcast.net Sports is dedicated to helping fighters and promotions make that leap into the big scene by helping them elevate their marketing efforts. We want to contribute some more and grow the boxing industry in the Philippines.

Talk to us, we like to work with you and your fighters. inquiry@powcast.net

Young Mark Magsayo potential two fights in 3 months? Cebu then Quezon City!

Young Mark Magsayo potential two fights in 3 months? Cebu then Quezon City!

The young boxer they call Magnifico will be given a chance to further his career and prove how magnificent he really is. With the record of 12-0 with 10 knockouts, all eyes are focused on the up and coming boxer from ALA’s stable. Coming in from a 1st round domination against Yardley Suarez at the Stub Hub Center in California, USA, this boxer is out to establish his name in boxing.

Magsayo was recently announced as one of the undercards of the Nonito Donaire bout that will be happening at the Araneta Coliseum this April 23, but just before he could step into that fight he got a prerequisite assignment in Eduardo Montoya of  Mexico (17-4-1). ALA promotion is holding an event on February 27 at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu and for some reasons the promotion is confident enough that Mark can fight a couple months after.Montoya a native of Mexico will come in February and try to derail the big stage appearance of Magsayo.

If Mark surpassed the test February he is surely up for a big money fight next, he will be faced with the toughest challenge yet of his boxing career.  An American who have fought 30 bouts total, this more than enough half of his total fights.  Chris Avalos Will visit the Philippines for the first time to ruin Magsayo’s rise to the boxing podium.

Albert "The Prince" Pagara Shines in US debut in amazing fashion, KO’s Gonzalez in round 6! (FULL FIGHT INSIDE)

The Prince – Pagara

I believe that with the right training, conditioning and discipline this guy is the next deal! Pagara has been tested in this fight and i know that he has a lot to work on to be the the next dominant champion .

Round 1 – Both fighters were trying to test the waters first and trying to feel each other first, Pagara fought wisely as Gonzalez tried to engage early, It was a bit lack luster in round 1, Pagara 10-9.

Round 2 – Pagara showed the eagerness to win the fight early, he smiled at times as well, bought fighters trying to exchange blows but at within 2 minutes left Pagara connected a beautiful left counter punch to the jaw but Gonzalez kept pressing forward and tried to taunt Pagara to bring it on, Pagara was calm enough to just keep boxing and even with the ref threatening Pagara at times to fight clean (although I don’t think he was hitting way below), Pagara delivered a knockdown within 20 seconds remaining in round 2, however it was waived because Pagara delivered a punch with Gonzalez down on his knees, The referee stepped in and warned to disqualify Pagara if he would do that again. The knockdown has been waived because of the illegal punch. Pagara 10-9 could have been a 1-8 easily.

Round 3 – Gonzalez started the round as if he was looking for a knockout pressing Pagara at times but that didnt really matter at all as Pagara counter punched his way into round 4. Pagara 10-9

Round 4: Gonzalez kept pressing forward and got Pagara on the ropes a number of times but often his punches didnt really bother Pagara, Pagara showed that he can take a punch at the same time box wisely, I am really impressed how he handled the pressure that is given to him by Gonzalez, Pagara still dictated the fight and delivered the more telling blows. Pagara 10-9.

Round 5: The situation didn’t really change but at this point the punches thrown by Gonzalez is telegraph well by Pagara. In the last 2 mins of the fight Pagara connected a 1-2 combination that staggered Gonzalez but Pagara was being cautious knowing that his opponent is a power puncher. Pagara won the round 10-9

Round 6: Gonzalez really wanted to KO Pagara and delivered a series of combination trying to head hunt Pagara. Pagara was cornered on the ropes as Gonzalez tried to unleash punches but Pagara was able to get out of it by pushing Gonzalez away and within the last min Pagara connected a 1-2 combination that floored Gonzalez to the ground and didnt get up as the referee counted him out.

With the win Pagara improved to 25 wins 18 KO’s no defeats.

Filipino boxer Donnie "Ahas" Nietes defeated Mexico’s Moises Fuentes during their rematch

Filipino boxer Donnie “Ahas” Nietes won against his Mexican foe, Moises Fuentes during their rematch in the main event of “Pinoy Pride XXV” on Saturday, May 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines.
Nietes scored a TKO win in the 9th round to retain is WBO light flyweight title and added the RING junior flyweight lineal championship, This Pinoy boxer has been undefeated since September of 20017. He now improved his record to 33 wins, 1 loss, and 4 draws.

Ramon Garcia Hirales Victim of Home cooking!

What else would it be! Ramon Garcia Hirales  vs Donnie Nietes was a close bout and it truly is, unless you failed to watch it and was just reading it from the news then you would think that Donnie really won the fight. Its evident that Ramon Garcia Hirales was the aggressor and was more active compare to Donnie Nietes. the fight was really close. Well at least this is what I think but majority of the judges score it the other way around.
Judges scored the bout 115-113, 118-110 and 117-111 and the winner by unanimous home cooking and the new champ Donnie Nietes. What a shame, unanimous decision? who are you kidding! maybe a split decision for Nietes could have been justified but unfortunately it did not happen! but who am I, I am not an expert so lets just forget about what I think.

Why don’t you tell me what you think?
