WBA Ordered Jorge Linares-Luke Campbell to Start Negotiation

WBA has ordered champion Jorge Linares and Luke Campbell to start negotiations for the mandatory title defense of Linares’ WBA world lightweight Title.

Jorge Linares (42-3,27) of Venezuela and fighting under Teiken Promotions captured the WBA Lightweight world title with 12 round unanimous decision over Anthony Crolla on September 2016 in Manchester UK. He successfully defended the title again against Crolla on their rematch on March 25 ,2017 where he also captured the Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Lightweight Titles.

Luke Campbell (17-1,14) of Yorkshire United Kingdom got the title shot after stopping former contender Darleys Perez in ninth round last April 2017. He is also the WBC Silver lightweight champion he won the title when he defeated Argenis Mendez by decision in 2016.

Both teams have 30 days starting July 21 to reach an agreement or otherwise the WBA will order purse bids.
