Prince Rahim Babar: The “Cager Prince” of LPU Basketball

The Philippines is a country known for world-class sports figures like boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, Olympian weightlifter Haidelyn Diaz, kegler Paeng Nepomuceno, runner Lydia De Vega, the magician Efren “Bata” Reyes, and Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire. These athletes are products of hard work and training that they developed when they were still young. Such is the case of this upcoming basketball star from Lyceum of the Philippines University.
Born Prince Rahim C. Babar on October 24, 1996 in Manila to Mr. Sohail Babar and Ms Jenelyn Babar. The 5-foot-10 head turner  is currently playing as point guard for LPU Coecsa MBT and LPU EE MBT in LPU Cavite taking up electrical engineering.
His idol in the NBA is triple double machine Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder. “I like him because he never gives up, and he is always going hard on and off the court”, quipped Rahim. Asked about how he balances his sports and studies, he emphasized time management. “Though it’s really hard to focus in studies when your heart is into playing basketball, this is really my passion. Ball is life all the way”, added Rahim.
“I really don’t remember my career high because I played a lot of games but I think worth sharing is the first time I played basketball. I scored 40 plus points in a single game and was awarded mythical five of that tournament. It was Villaggio Ignatius League”, said Rahim.
Rahim’s favorite shot is pull up jumper and penetration. “I’m a one-on-one player so I love going to the rim all the way and pull up jumper is effective”, said Rahim.
His ambition in life is to become rich so he can help people in need and wants to finish his studies. With unceasing faith in God and perseverance, this young lad’s dream in and out of the hard court is not far-fetched in the near future.
