“Basically, when you have one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world, you’re never going to run out of potential opponents,” GBP’s CEO Richard Schaefer said in a report by Ring.tv.
Donaire, the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion, wants to face another 118-pound titlist in an effort to become Asia’s first undisputed champion.
GBP already offered to promote World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Anselmo Moreno of Panama to arrange a fight with Donaire.
However, no agreement has been reached yet.
‘Donaire won’t have a fight’
Arum already filed a complaint with the arbiter in charge of handling their dispute over Donaire.
“The arbitrator will schedule the proceedings as quickly as possible so we can get a determination,” he said.
Arum expressed confidence that they will get a favorable ruling from retired judge Daniel Weinstein, who also heard the GBP-Top Rank dispute over Manny Pacquiao
“Now, we will determine judicially, and we’re confident with the results,” said the veteran promoter.
Arum said Donaire will not fight with anyone else as his promoter.
“Unless he comes back to us,” the promoter was quoted as saying, “he won’t have a fight. The only fight he is going to have is with his wife, Rachel.”
